  1. “I can’t make 147, so don’t ask” said Bernard Hopkins, who was holding down the Golden Boy fort while De La Hoya, accompanied by GBP CEO Richard Schaefer, was at the hospital getting checked out.

“Pacquiao can make 170,” shot back Pac Man’s promoter, Bob Arum, almost giddy over the victory.

While the absurdity of a Hopkins-Pacquiao match raised laughter, it was hard to forget that the first mention of Pacquiao-De La Hoya was greeted the same way

    hmmmm

  2. I agree. Cotto actually outboxed Margarito in their championship encounter. Cotto connected MORE punches... good punches to the chin! But Margarito simply walked through it all. This guy has granite for jaws. But I have to give it to Cotto for not ducking this guy. Margarito is the most ducked contender (now champion) of all time!

The irony was Margarito was the one ducking Cotto, kayang kaya nya pala

Margarito 5'11 is also ducking the 6'1 Paul Williams. He was offered $4M to fight Williams but is accepting $2M to fight Mosley.

Back to Manny Pacquiao, if he could avoid getting KO in the early rounds, he has a good chance to win the fight

  3. let's not get things out of hand here

    Margarito would tear Pacman apart.

think of a younger, bigger, stronger ODLH

I agree wag na si Margarito, hindi yun tatablan ng suntok ni Pacman

  4. anyway, another thing going for manny is that DLH has been below the required weight of 147lbs. already. it has been said that ideally, the boxer should cut his weight down 2 days before the weigh in so he will not tire easily. as it is, DLH has long been underweight for this fight so his condition come fight time would be shaky given his drastic weight reduction.

There has been reports that Oscar is not 145 at the moment but 155lbs. Masyado yatang maramin laro na nilalaro dito

    from : Fightnews

Sensing Oscar De La Hoya has been starving himself in training camp to make weight, even admitting that he would have to forego Thanksgiving dinner, Team Pacquiao has decided to make it a little harder for the Golden Boy. They have arranged for an 11.25-pound, 12-inch chocolate cheesecake from the world-famous Carnegie Deli in New York City to be delivered to Oscar today at Summit Camp in Big Bear Lake, Calif., where he is training. The following message is included: "Oscar -- Looking forward to serving you your just desserts on December 6. Happy Thanksgiving. From Team Pacquiao." De La Hoya has been claiming he's been walking around at 145 pounds (curiously the recent segment of "24/7" showed him weighing 155 pounds), as he prepares for his welterweight super fight against the Pacman.

  5. Bro, it seems like tatakbo nga si Pacquiao sa 2010 sabi sa HBO 24/7... :thumbsdownsmiley:

  7. Mukhang may sama ng loob si Freddie Roach kay Oscar kaya pinush itong labang ng husto

    Roach: Manny will KO Oscar!

Trainer Freddie Roach has boldly predicted that his star pupil, WBC lightweight champion and boxing’s No. 1 pound-for-pound fighter Manny Pacquiao will knock out Oscar De La Hoya when they meet on December 6, in a 12-round welterweight super fight. "I’m so confident in Pacquiao in this fight...we’re going to knock him out in nine rounds.," said Roach to FOX Sports. "He [Oscar] gets quite tired at normal paces. Pacquiao doesn’t fight at normal paces. We’re going to push the old man…I love this fight!" Other highlights of the interview include: "[Mexican fight fans] like fighters, not boxers. When the bell rings, the Mexican fans in the audience are going to be on Pacquiao’s side...The true Mexican fans love his [Pacquiao’s] style.....Oscar can’t really stand the pace of a Manny Pacquiao, fighting three minutes of every round, attacking him, putting the pressure on this guy, taking away his height and reach advantage by getting close and fighting on the inside and work that body where Oscar has been weak his whole career. And at this stage of Oscar’s career, he’s busted up. He’s starting to break up. His face in the Forbes fight, he was all banged up after that fight. He had a broken cheekbone…and this guy [Forbes] can’t even punch..... I found out through the media that I was no longer the trainer and that he brought Floyd Sr. back and it was a little disappointing because Oscar had told me, one time, he said, ‘I’ll never fight without you in my corner again.’ It bothered me that he couldn’t tell me face to face."

An aging big guy vs a smaller guy in the peak of his career.

  10. Freddie Roach found a toy gun and he can't pull it's trigger. Who's gun is it?

Ginagalit niya ng husto si Golden Boy.

Kailangan wag nya galitin si Golden Boy para pa petik petik lang hehehe Pag nag train kasi yan ng husto may tulog si Pacman.

  11. Buhain admitted Thursday that he had asked the WBC to cancel the fight because he believed Pacquiao stood no chance against De La Hoya, who is four inches taller and has a five-inch reach edge over the Filipino.

Hmmm kaya siguro hinubaran ng belt si Pac ng WBC

Salud: GAB, Rodriguez can’t stop Pacquiao

    September 26, 2008 06:14:00

    Recah Trinidad

    Philippine Daily Inquirer

MANILA, Philippines—Lawyer-sportsman Rudy Salud Thursday said he understands the concern of certain people over the perceived mismatch between Manny Pacquiao and Oscar De La Hoya but there’s no way any local agency, including the Games and Amusements Board, could stop the event.

Salud said the contract for the fight has already been signed and only one body, the Nevada State Athletic Commission, has control and jurisdiction over the fight slated Dec. 6 in Las Vegas.

His reaction came after Cagayan de Oro Rep. Rufus Rodriguez urged GAB chair Eric Buhain to temporarily freeze Pacquiao’s boxing license to prevent the Filipino ring icon from fighting De La Hoya.

Salud said the suggestion is grossly misinformed and useless.

Salud, founding secretary general of the World Boxing Council, said that even if the WBC wanted to meddle into the event, as suggested by Buhain, the world sanctioning body has no jurisdiction over the event.

Buhain admitted Thursday that he had asked the WBC to cancel the fight because he believed Pacquiao stood no chance against De La Hoya, who is four inches taller and has a five-inch reach edge over the Filipino.

Downplaying Pacquiao’s chances, Rodriguez said: “This bout is just about money. Pacquiao has no chance. We have to protect him. He is a national treasure.”

Salud said critics must also bear in mind that despite the disparities, Pacquiao and his trainer Freddie Roach would not venture into the fight if they feel they are incapable of facing up to the challenge.

According to Salud, critics of the bout should also look back to the fight between the giant Primo Carnera and Joe Louis in 1935. Louis knocked out Carnera.

“I personally feel that Pacquiao will be able to score an upset despite the odds and the unfounded fear of several people,” said Salud. With a report from Agence France-Presse

  13. GAB cannot do anything once the fight is done outside the country period. They can only rebuke the license if needed but that not stop a fighter to fight in other country who will give him a license.

True, even if the GAB rebuke his license it won't affect Pac because he fight mostly in the United States.

When was the last time Pac fought here in the Phils? Oscar Larios pa yata yun?

  14. Pareng Robbie,

I caught Eric Buhain in the news last night. He was saying that he does not approve of the fight but can not do anything about it. Naghugas kamay. Para que pa ang GAB if they can not enforce rules on our fighters? Pacman, as long as he remains a Filipino professional athlete should be GOVERNED under Philippine rules and regulations. I don't think Pacman will die in this fight. But a LOT of other Pinoy fighters do get hurt and sometimes die in the ring. Inutil naman pala ang GAB (because of it's chairman?), so what the fcuk are they here for?

The fight is in Las Vegas and not in the Philippines. They have different licensing over there, and thats all Pac needs to fight over there.

Eric Buhain can't really do anything about it, if he goes to Las Vegas to stop the fight, some high boxing people there might just shoot him or worst baka si Pacquiao mismo ang sumuntok sa kanya for cancelling his $15M to $20M payday

Hayaan nyo na si Pac :)

  15. Santi Bovine, Cattle Capsule, and Happy King, dubbed as Love Drugs or Chinese Viagra here in the Philippines were featured last night on GMA Network's Imbestigador.

The pills, which are sold even in shopping malls are not registered with the Bureau of Food and Drugs (BFAD). The people of Imbestigador brought some samples of the said pills to CHEMPRO Analytical Services Laboratories, Inc., to test it for heavy metals. Chemist Donie Ray Aragoza reported that the pills contain lead and cadmium. Lead is a poisonous metal that can damage nervous connections and cause blood and brain disorders. Long term exposure to lead can cause nephropathy, and colic-like abdominal pains. So think twice before using those pills.

Bottomline : Be careful with drugs not registered with BFAD
