  1. Thank you for raising very interesting points. For clarity, please forgive me if I respond with a sense of brevity, while attempting to capture the gist of your concerns.

I respect your opinion about the interest rates and penalties the GSIS is imposing. However, I think you know well enough that these are dictated by the GSIS Law (RA 8291), which Congress enacted.

    In fact, the law says...

“SEC. 7. Interests on Delayed Remittances. Agencies which delay the remittance of any and all monies due the GSIS shall be charged interests as may be prescribed by the Board but not less than two percent (2%) simple interest per month...”

Point is, this is a matter best brought up with our lawmakers. The GSIS is merely complying with the law.

Also, the GSIS is very much open to reconciliation of member accounts. In fact, one only needs to present remittance lists with official receipts to trigger corrections in records. I don’t think asking of receipts is unfair, because in almost all transactions—whether private or in the public sectors—receipts serve as primary proof of payment.

  2. patulong naman kase yung mother ng gf ko nakaassign sa counsilor then after 9yrs nung matapos na yung term niya yung parang separation pay niya nakuha niya lang is 1k bakit naman gnun wala naman utang yung tao.....patulong naman

Ok, nine years in service, pero 1K lang nakuha nya. Ikaklaro ko lang ha? Separation pays are given by her employer, meaning the LGU she worked for, not the GSIS. Ang separation package kasi ng GSIS for her case (less than 15 years service and below 60 years of age) is cash payment equivalent to 100% of the Average Monthly Compensation for every year of service payable upon reaching age 60.

But if you're talking about cash surrender value for her life insurance policy--where she's supposed to get higher than P1K--I suspect she incurred underpayments. Meaning, kahit na kinakaltasan sya ng contributions for her premium payments, malamang hindi nireremit ng agency nya.

I suggest you ask her to ask her agency it already updated all its obligations with the GSIS. She can ask for a copy of the remittance list showing her premiums (with official receipt). If everything is in order, meaning napatunayan na niremit yung prima nya sa GSIS, please PM me her particulars (name, agency, period of service, birthdate, and policy number). I'll see what can be done.

    Thanks.

  3. Ask ko lang, kung pwede pa me magpolicy loan after na nakuha ko yung maturity value ng aking policy?

Explain ko lang to sandali, please bear with me...

Yung policy mo na nagmature is called the life endowment policy (LEP), which is the old life insurance policy provided to regular members na pumasok sa service prior to August 1, 2003. Since nag-mature na yung LEP mo, nakapagclaim ka na ng cash surrender value (CSV)

This means (I assume you're still in the service) you now have a new life insurance policy. And this policy is called the Enhanced Life Policy (ELP). ELP effectively replaces LEP. With ELP, you now start accumulating a sort of a seed money, called the ination value of the policy. Usually, once you convert from LEP to ELP, may startup seed money na yun, pero dahil kinuha mo na yung (CSV), medyo hindi pa sya ganoon kalaki.

So to answer your question, pwede kang magpolicy loan. Up to 90% of your accumulated termination value, with interest rate of 8% per annum compounded monthly. Kaso, baka medyo maliit pa lang iyon kasi kaka-claim mo pa lang ng CSV.

Better check with your liaison officer kung magkano na termination value ng policy mo.

Sana nakatulong ako. Sorry for the late reply. Akala ko kasi wala nang nagpopost dito eh.

  4. All night I waited for you, putting up a happy face before your relatives, who kept asking what time you would come home. They must have noticed how lousily I grappled for explanations that they readily excused me for the night.

When you called, I feigned a sleepy voice, if only to prevent you from knowing I had been crying. Still, I hoped you had fun with your night-out.

I looked forward to some amount of piece when you got home. Then you came again breaking your little news. I’m sorry if I offended you, but you see it has been very difficult for me recently to put on a brave front. What you say and do have its way of gobbling up every bit of self-dignity. More often now, I mumble a little prayer before reacting to every word you say.

You don't have the slightest inkling how easily you break me.

  5. There is absolutely no chance that you will read this, that’s why I am emboldened to write this.

I guess this letter tells the story of our past five months; this habit of learning and meeting your needs. I have no qualms rediscovering you, what worries me is that I might not like the person I am reacquainting with.

It is evident to you now that I do not really know you. Sometimes, I suspect you take pleasure with this, because there were many times when you shove this fact right in my face just to score in this never ending power play.

Ok, I admit neglecting you to a great extent, so what now? When do we get a move on?

And one last thing: When will you start trying to know who I am?

  6. Pare, I was waiting for your call last week. I already got a hold of your dad's records, but I left it in the house. Anyway, based on what I gathered, Comelec has yet to report to GSIS that your dad already passed away. In fact, our record shows he remains in active duty, but is no longer remitting premiums. I'm still in consultation with one of the claims guys here on how much his beneficiaries stand to receive, but I was informed that it is important that Comelec's admin send the necessary papers to GSIS showing he ceased to be in duty as of 2000.

I'll feed you more info as they come.

Pare, any new info on what we discussed last week over the phone? Hope to hear from you soon.

  7. I try harder, you know I do. But sometimes, this whole endeavor of reaching out and drawing back and the monotonous litany that drives this have a way of piercing my heart.

Last week, while you were sleeping in the sand, I caught a snapshot of the ocean’s wave. I cried. I felt for the seawater, like we are of kin, in its almost desperate task of continuously reclaiming land. I am water and I want to reclaim you. I want you in my drenched arms, not to drown you, but to wash away your loneliness.

Still, you opt to be there, sad and all, and everyday I die seeing you that way. I die knowing that my surf only reaches that limited part of your beach. I die knowing that the expansive ocean of love cannot get to you enough.

I heard that there are certain parts of the year when the sea is calm, free from any gust of wind and waves. I look forward to that. Maybe soon, I would have to stop, and you need not be fearful anymore.

Separated or otherwise, may be, if we pray for good weather, there will be peace.

  8. My take...

At this point, the guy is haveing his needs met from all sides. He is getting his "space", which is basically his freedom from you. Once his "need" of being with you arises, all he has to do is just call you and you're there.

I think you have pretty proved how much you love him so I give you this advice.

I suggest to tell him how much you love him and how you only wanted to work things out with him. Tell him you are willing to give this commitment a go, but you can no longer bear the pain of this arrangement he wants to have.

Then gently tell him that you no longer want to speak to him. Cut off all communication with him.

This solution deprives him of the need he so easily gets from you. This will also allow him to really weigh what he really wants--his freedom or your love.

Until such he proves to himself and to you what he wants for his life, resist communicating with him, even if he is the one who initiates (unless, of course, he tells you he wants to resume your relationship again).

If he doesn't come back, then you'll know for sure that your relationship is over. You can start with your process of grief and eventually acceptance.

  9. hi...

i was just wondering why is it that every year we are giving our support services the application form for GSIS but still we dont get our Policy Number??? bawat taon ganun gawa namin... san ba kami pwede magpunta??? i mean dumiretso??? wat are the needed papers... i may be needing some money kasi this year and i was thingkin of getting a loan but i know to have a loan i have to have a policy number... so un ang prob ko and some of my officemates here... hope youo can extend some hand to us...

Hi bugoy, I am not so sure why you guys don't have your policy numbers. If you have a liaison officer with the GSIS, I suggest you ask that person why year in year out you need to submit membership application forms. Do you get GSIS deductions? If so, i think you may already have your policy number (it usually starts with LP-### or CM-###) Try calling the head office, so that you'll know for sure if you already have a policy number. OUr trunkline is 8916161. Have the operator connect you to the membership department.

If you find out you still don't have a policy number, although you are getting deductions, better confront your admin or HR about it. There is a possibity that your agency may not be remitting your premiums.

If our membership department is unable to help you out in checking if you have a policy number, you may try PMing me your full name and agency. I'll see what I can do. Thanks.

  10. GSIS opens satellite office in Northern Samar

The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) has recently opened a satellite office in Catarman in the province of Northern Samar to cater to the needs of some 8,500 members from 25 municipalities in the province.

The satellite office is an extension of the GSIS Catbalogan Field Office, and is outfitted to grant and pay salary loans, policy loans, emergency loans, pension loans, funeral benefit claims, regular and optional life insurance claims, retirement claims and pre-need claims.

It will also receive and forward to the Catbalogan Field Office housing loans, general insurance underwriting and claims, Employees Compensation claims, as well as requests for resumption of pension and survivorship pension.

“Before we decided to open the Catarman satellite office, our members from Northern Samar had to travel long hours just to reach our field office in Catbalogan,” said GSIS president and general manager Winston Garcia.

“Now that we have brought the GSIS nearer them, they can begin enjoying responsive, timely and fast delivery of services without spending much for transportation,” he added.

The Catarman satellite office is currently manned by five GSIS personnel, and is located in the provincial capitol grounds of Northern Samar.

  11. My question is... why the posting system of gsis is not updated???? We had hard time in the application of e-card because of their posting system, where in fact our office is remitting on time. Also, there were unposted payments in my account and i already personally submitted the documents and yet until now, di pa rin posted..Bakit naman ganun?????????

Thank you tall guy. The GSIS' system, believe it or not, had only implemented a systematic and digitized posting system in 2003. At present, we are putting in a central database all the transactions of 1.3 million members since 1997 and this is, by no means an easy task. At present, we are nearly 90 percent complete with the backlog posting. What is taking so long is the actual reconciliation of GSIS visavis the agency records. Both sides have to prove how much an agency actually remitted. Action here cuts both ways as the GSIS can only proceed with reconciling the records based on the cooperation of the agency. Truth is, we are meeting resistance from some agencies because some do not want the tedious process of putting an efficient records system from their members (I think you have an idea why).

It would help if you could tell me the agency you are working for, so I could get its status, if it is really remiiting on time (meaning every 10th of the month).

I understand your frustration with the need for a members to have his.her record checked before getting an eCard. But this is a necessary procedure. For one, we have to be sure of the identity of the applicant. I'm sure you would appreciate the SOP here that only aims to prevent unscrupulous people to get your eCard, right? Also, we want to be sure that the applicant is still in service. Remember, the eCard has a built in P5,000 loan and we want to be sure that that applicant is still in active service before he can avail of the loan.

YOu mentioned you have already submitted you're documents and still it has yet to be posted. What are these documents? When did you submit these? And what was the GSIS personnel's explanation for the delay?

    Thanks.

  12. Hi! My grandfather, who is a Retired MTC (Municipal Trial Court)  :P  Judge passed away 3 years ago. Any benefits that the immediate family can claim from GSIS?

Pareng xcalibur, salamat sa tanong mo.

Members of the judiciary, according to the GSIS charter, are what we consider special members. Since they already have their JDF to cover for their retirement and death benefits, the GSIS only provides them with life insurance coverage. That means the GSIS do not provide member pension, survivorship pension, and the likes to members of the judiciary. This also means the judiciary remits less premiums to the GSIS.

However, the GSIS returns the contributions of a judiciary member once he/she retires or corresponding life insurance benefits are given if the member dies while in service. If your father died while in service or if he retired and has yet to get the contributions he made with the GSIS, you may coordinate with the GSIS main office in Pasay. The Costumer Relations Monitoring Department (CRMD) Desk at the lobby with assist you on what you should do.

    Thanks man. :)

  13. hi im a govt employee... ask lang sana ako kasi meron daw sa DepEd ARMM hindi daw nagreremit ng pera... pwede ko ba ask kung meron remittance ang city govt of makati... specifically from casual employees of the city hall... by now siguro alam mo na na ako'y worker from this institution...

and also my officemates because they say casuals dont get the same benefits as those who are regulars... i quoted to them the new GSIS Act am i right that even thought you are a casual or contractual as long as you are a member and you give contributions you will receive the same benefits???

    thanks...

    :mtc:  :mtc:  :mtc:

    Hi pareng bugoy,

Pasensya na hindi ko nakita agad yung post ko. Akala ko kasi namatay na tong thread na to. Anyway to answer your questions...

    1. We have an ongoing reconciliation arrangement with the City of Makati and so far, we are in the thick of reconciling 84 remittance lists from your agency. Your vice-mayor, i think, is taking the lead in this reconciliation project. Hopefully, masesettle na yung account ninyo, again, depende sa cooperation ng agency ninyo. The good thing about this is that both GSIS and Makati gov't is doing something about it.

    2. Casuals and permanent gov't employees both get benefits from GSIS. Both are entitled to loans (such as salary and housing) and other programs, such as the eCard (and the P5,000 cash advance that go along with it). May mga konti lang difference. For example, sa housing loan, temporary, co-terminus, contractual, and casual employees must have had at least five years of continuous service. Pag permanent ka, aotumatic, pwede kang mag housing loan. Sa salary loan naman, pareho lang. Both casual and permanent employees must have 20 monthly contributions para makaloan. All others, like dividends, insurance coverage, pareho lang ang benefits.

I hope I was of help. For more information, check out http://www.gsis.gov.ph/index.html

  14. I first encountered this poem way back in college. Up to now, Neruda's words still affect me.

    I'm Explaining a Few Things

You are going to ask: and where are the lilacs?

    and the poppy-petalled metaphysics?

    and the rain repeatedly spattering

its words and drilling them full

    of apertures and birds?

I'll tell you all the news.

    I lived in a suburb,

a suburb of Madrid, with bells,

    and clocks, and trees.

From there you could look out

    over Castille's dry face:

    a leather ocean.

    My house was called

the house of flowers, because in every cranny

    geraniums burst: it was

    a good-looking house

    with its dogs and children.

    Remember, Raul?

Eh, Rafel? Federico, do you remember

    from under the ground

    my balconies on which

the light of June drowned flowers in your mouth?

    Brother, my brother!

    Everything

loud with big voices, the salt of merchandises,

    pile-ups of palpitating bread,

the stalls of my suburb of Arguelles with its statue

like a drained inkwell in a swirl of hake:

    oil flowed into spoons,

    a deep baying

of feet and hands swelled in the streets,

    metres, litres, the sharp

    measure of life,

    stacked-up fish,

the texture of roofs with a cold sun in which

    the weather vane falters,

the fine, frenzied ivory of potatoes,

wave on wave of tomatoes rolling down the sea.

And one morning all that was burning,

    one morning the bonfires

    leapt out of the earth

    devouring human beings --

    and from then on fire,

    gunpowder from then on,

    and from then on blood.

    Bandits with planes and Moors,

    bandits with finger-rings and duchesses,

bandits with black friars spattering blessings

came through the sky to k*ll children

and the blood of children ran through the streets

    without fuss, like children's blood.

Jackals that the jackals would despise,

stones that the dry thistle would bite on and spit out,

vipers that the vipers would abominate!

Face to face with you I have seen the blood

of Spain tower like a tide

to drown you in one wave

    of pride and knives!

    Treacherous

    generals:

    see my dead house,

    look at broken Spain :

from every house burning metal flows

    instead of flowers,

    from every socket of Spain

    Spain emerges

and from every dead child a rifle with eyes,

and from every crime bullets are born

    which will one day find

the bull's eye of your hearts.

And you'll ask: why doesn't his poetry

    speak of dreams and leaves

and the great volcanoes of his native land?

Come and see the blood in the streets.

    Come and see

    The blood in the streets.

    Come and see the blood

    In the streets!

  15. heheh.... pisceans are really intelligent beings.... they even tend to browse back or back-read through posts or history just to prove their theories' or thoughts' validities... ;) and that includes me.. :D

hey sunflower, how bout my haiku? what do you think of it? what sort of scenario or object comes to your mind when you read them?

georgie, i did think of us, pisceans when i read your haiku.. ;) cheers!

Sali na din ako, do.ob, ha?

I cannot say exactly what your verses meant, but I can tell you how I felt.

    "a spec of dust

    in a vast medium

    sliding smoothly

    piercing through atoms"

----> I got feeling of epiphany with your words. A coming of age, as indicated in the imagery of a spec of dust realizing its greater self, its capacity to piece through. I love it.

Now, my two cents: I'm, looking at your verses from a literary critics eye. I like the music that is embedded in every word, such as "spec of dust" and "sliding smoothly." You do know music, man, it comes out naturally.

If we are going to treat these verses as a poem, I suggest you balance the use of metaphors with prosy lines. I mean, I thougt your words "showed" a bit excessively and I suggest you need to "tell" the readers what you are talking about. Poetry is tension between reality and imagination and you have to let readers traipse between these two worlds for them to appreciate and relate to the experience of words.

Best of luck, man. You have the gift.

  16. yw, George Estregan Lives. see? i have other meaning other than what u want to point out. 'am a reader. the meaning of ur haiku to your reader varies. u are an artist in ur own right. i know, u love to observe whereever you are. make use of that. gather words u use to describe ur environment. write them in a paper and make use of it. good luck.

Oh god, technique! Love 'em. Puts sanity to the written word. Thanks again SunflowR for taking the time and provide me useful virtues in writing haikus. Hopefully I could come up with some more in the coming days, along them notable improvements.

You're a real Piscean, sis, not just with your mastery of haiku, but also with your selfless nature in helping others.

BTW, I noticed you put up your posts on really wakeful hours. Insomnia, is that a Piscean trait too?
