  1. It again boils down to the "long toms"...the lack of shooting like yung kinatakot natin sa previous postings. Dont know what happened. Is it the system sa PBA? Na ini idolo ng ating amateur players. Sayang. Those countries that are in the upper level of FIBA-ASIA have accurate shooters from the outside.

by the way, aren't tickets for the pacquiao-marquez bout sold out already? hhhmmmmm

    Miss Gayweather     Yes, sold out na tickets sa Pacman-Marquez fight. Scalpers ka na lang makakabili ng upuan. Its confirmed by Bob Arum. Too late na raw sinabihan si Bernadette Sembrano when she told on air that we should buy tickets sa fight na. Sabi ni Bob Arum....too late, my darling, its already been sold out.

if we beat chinese taipei, we need only 1 more win to qualify for the FIBA olympic qualifier

or win it all to automatically be in the olympics...

whoever said that Philippine basketball is dead and Football will overshadow basketball??? ano na nga pala ginagawa ng azkals ngayon???

Lets not drag the Azkals dito. They are of different discipline. Football cannot overshadow basketball kasi there's not really a tournament para sa kanila around here like basketball. Both the Smart and Azkals dinadala ang ating watawat. Lets just cheer for them.

  4. i couldn't agree more with you sir!

i really can't understand why there are some people who keep on saying negative things about these players despite of their sacrifices for the philippine flag. they could choose to take a vacation since its off season but instead they chose to play on.

Eh, yung full grown talents nga sina Ildefonso, Marlou, etc. tinatawag for duty kung ano anong dahilan. I understand the stand of Hontiveros kasi (maski nakakainis) kalabang ng MVP group yung SMB group. Sayang.

  5. Bakit tinawag na monay ang monay?

Masarap ang monay with sorbetes or with ube and leche flan. Masarap din ang monay with menudo.

"I had this funny experience a few years back when I was in Aklan. I bought a homemade peanut butter and I was craving to eat it so I immediately ran to a nearby bakery with a friend to buy some bread.

I was hoping to buy pandesal but I saw this large "monay" and I said to the tindera "Miss magkano ang hot monay mo?" My friend suddenly laughed and so did the tindera. I repeated it saying "Yan monay mo nga miss kung magkano and bibilhin ko." They again laughed and I was left wondering why. Then on our way back with my "hot monay" I asked my friend why did they laughed at the bakery. Then my friend said that "monay" also means the female's organ in their dialect. "

  6. Why do stupid promoters continue to give this Gayman big purse sa kanyang mga laban? Its about time that promoters stop giving this Chicken big time money sa kanyang mga laban. Tingnan nyo, sa dami ng i se settle niya sa court and off-court, mapipilitang labanan niyang Nigger na yan si Pacman. Ticket sales sa mga laban ni Bading hindi na so sold out. Arum and the rest of the promoters should sit down and make agreements not to offer Gayee big purses.

  8. you could also see watching fiba europe why macedonia made it to the top 4 for the first time even beating the much bigger lithuania. during our glory days di ba ala din taung malalaki instead we have a lot of good shooters.. un kulang sa tin outside shooting. we can compsensate for our lack of height with great hustles but we can not score a basket because our game is solely based on pick and roles and slashing inside. kung may outside shooting yan magopen up ng maraming opportunities. maganda interior defense natin sa china. kaso ala naman taung opensa balewala din. kaya dapat hanapin natin mga kalahi nila caidic co at adornado..

This was and is the very reason why South Korean beat China. They have lots and lots of great outside shooters. Unlike style ng Pinas na puro "buhat" or undergoal stab. Di puwede ang ganun sa international plays. South Korea just plays simple basketball, play, pasa pasa then shoot fromt the outside WITH ACCURACY!

Pacquiao blasts Mayweather for 'poor sportsmanship'

By Abac Cordero, The Philippine Star Posted at 09/19/2011 8:50 AM | Updated as of 09/19/2011 2:27 PM MANILA, Philippines - Manny Pacquiao made sure he’d catch the fight on TV. He didn’t like what he saw.

“Very poor sportsmanship,” said the Filipino pound-for-pound champion in the aftermath of Floyd Mayweather’s controversial knockout of Victor Ortiz in Las Vegas yesterday.

Pacquiao said he didn’t’ see anything illegal with what Mayweather did because he thought that the referee, Joe Cortez, had already ordered the fight to continue.

“It was not illegal,” he said.

Still, Pacquiao, a clean fighter, felt it was unsportsmanlike.

Freddie Roach talked to The STAR right after the fight, and felt it was a “cheap shot” from Mayweather.

“Yeah,” he said over the phone.

“The referee was still talking to someone at ringside. And I didn’t see him said ‘box’ like they always do. I think he lost control,” said Roach.

Pacquiao’s adviser, Mike Koncz, felt the same way, too.

“Poor sportsmanship,” said Koncz who watched the fight with Pacquiao.

“I feel the same way. Floyd just took advantage of the inexperience of the young fighter like Ortiz. I agree that it was a cheap shot,” he said.

Koncz was asked if Pacquiao ever talked about the possibility of fighting Mayweather as they watched the fight on TV.

“No. We’re not concerned with Floyd right now. We’re working on the (Juan Manuel) Marquez fight (on Nov. 12),” said Koncz.

“Ortiz was too trusting. It was his fault. But Floyd showed he is not a sportsman in its true sense,” said Pacquiao’s legal adviser, Franklin Gacal.

“It was very clear Cortez was still talking to somebody when Floyd threw the cheap shot at Ortiz. That punch hurt not Ortiz but the sport of boxing,” Gacal added.

Mayweather stretched his unbeaten record to 42 and became the new WBC welterweight champion when he caught Ortiz with two solid punches with just a second left in the fourth round.

It was a clear knockout except that Ortiz wasn’t protecting himself because Cortez appeared to be talking to someone at ringside, maybe the commissioner or one of the judges.

The referee’s eyes were not on the boxers.

That’s why when Mayweather landed the first blow, Cortez looked stunned, his eyes and mouth wide open. Yet, when Ortiz fell to the canvas he was so quick to give him the count.

    Cortez defended his actions.

“Time was in. The fighter needed to keep his guard up. Mayweather did nothing illegal,” Cortez firmly said after the fight.

Prior to the knockout, Ortiz pinned Mayweather on the ropes, and banged away at the undefeated American. Then he must have been carried away, and lunged at Mayweather – with his head.

Ortiz was deducted a point for the intentional headbutt that opened a cut on Mayweather’s chin.

“I got hit with a dirty shot,” Mayweather told HBO analyst Larry Merchant inside the ring.

Mayweather insisted that Ortiz should have protected himself at all times.

“Meaning even though it appeared that he wasn’t protecting himself.... That you unfairly took advantage of it,” Merchant continued.

But Mayweather evaded the question, and instead thanked everybody who bought the fight on pay-per-view and those who came out to Las Vegas to watch.

“We’re not (here) to talk about what he did dirty or what I did dirty. I was victorious. If he wants a rematch he can get a rematch,” Mayweather said.

Merchant got into Mayweather’s nerves, and soon after the flamboyant and cocky American was right in the face of the 80-year-old boxing expert.

“You don’t ever give me a fair shake. So I’m gonna let you talk to Victor Ortiz, alright? I’m through. Put somebody else up here to give me an interview. HBO needs to fire you because you don’t know (expletive) about boxing. You ain’t (expletive),” Mayweather ranted.

“If I was 50 years younger, I would kick your ass,” was Merchant’s reply.

Then he turned his back on Mayweather.

  10. moro moro yung laban kahapon! why the heck ortiz kept on smiling the whole time after the fight? he just lost his title! parang ok lang sa kanya eh

Ganyan talaga si Ortiz. Lahat ng laban niya, no care siya. Yun ang gusto niyang image sa mundo, the good guy. Lahat ng interview sa kanya after ng mga laban niya, good guyy parati.

Me, too, I saw it as a legal punch. But there's BIG DIFFERENCE about a legal punch and a SUCKER punch. Unsportsmanlike. Pacman will NOT do that (that is during this maturity time of his career kasi ginagawa rin ni Pacman nuong kabataan niya, bagsak na kalaban, binabanatan pa ng pabaon, pero super bata pa siya nuon. Gigil)

  13. hahaha i still remember atoy co's crispa days

langya wala pang three point line nuon

    ang lalayo ng binibitawan

of course who will not know bogs adornado, the first pba mvp

ikaw ba hahayaan mo na malibre sina guidaben, fernandez, patrimonio and even paras sa late years nya

I think kung maagang nagkaron ng three points nuon, Atoy Co would be up there sa scoring leaders (all-time). There was this player, Arthur Herrera nuon, bigyan mo lang ng screen (which was usually done by the late Tembong Melencio), shoot kaagad. There was time na naka score siya ng 42 points na halow 90% ang accuracy. And there was Renato Reyes, Jaime Mariano, and the young Francis Arnaiz. Not counting the exploits of the young Robert Jaworski.

  14. Sir add mo na din siguro si Allan Caidic who stands about 6'3, he is a marked man sa bawat tournament na kasali ang Pinas noon.

Yes, you're right si Allan. But Allan stands only at 6'1" not 6'3" but he's a demon kapag sa shooting. Imagine that! They are not that tall but they can pick screens and knows how to fight their way para malibre. Just like what Michael Jordan's been doing. Dribble but not so many dribbles na kagaya ni Mark Caguioa, daming dribbles.

  15. http://www.mmafighting.com/2011/09/18/floyd-mayweather-larry-merchant-go-toe-to-toe/

    hehehe..............

"I don't really think I could have kicked his ass 50 years ago, but I would have tried it," Merchant said.

Merchant added that he believed the real reason Mayweather cut the interview short is that he didn't want to face questions about why he has refused to fight Manny Pacquiao, who is widely regarded as the opponent with the best chance to hand Mayweather his first career loss.

"What happened? I think Floyd Mayweather knew that the next question was going to be about, Why don't you fight Pacquiao? That's still the question that will linger long after this fight," Merchant said.

If nothing else, the exchange between Merchant and Mayweather will bolster Merchant's reputation as a journalist who's not afraid to ask any question -- and bolster Mayweather's reputation as boxing's greatest villain.

i've watched the 4 th round again

    http://www.youtube.c...h?v=35tM3bRxpo8

cortez calls for a time out

he deducts 1 point from ortiz and claps his hands for fight to resume

but he forgot to call time in

he only called time in when pbf was already hitting ortiz

    ============================

Ah, thanks, I stand corrected. So Cortez was in error at that time when he counted out Ortiz. Dapat binigyan niya ng extra time for Ortiz to recuperate. Dapat may rematch but I doubt that.

basic na tinuturo yan sa any world history class...

The accuracy of Atoy Co, Bogs Adornado, Danilo Florencio. You might now know these guys, kung bata pa kayo but they have 80% accruracy ng kanilang shots and that includes Abbarientos of old (uncle ni Abbarientos of today), Papa, Mariano, Marquez, Miego, Castelo, and Botchok delos Santos. And they do it under intense guarding, double teaming and triple teaming. The problem kasi nowadays, mostly are Patrimonio-style players, puro sa looban. Patrimonio was a devil sa PBA and his no. of MVPs will show it. pero sa international play, sisiw siya kasi hindi siya maka operate sa painted area. I know he will have hard time sa international play na run and shoot!

  18. Lugi talaga tayo pagdating sa height and heft ng ibang countries (Iran, Lebanon, China, Korea, Japan) kaya nga may naturalized player ang Pinas in Douhit though I really don't like their chances with him, mas maganda pa sana kung si CJ Giles (na tinoyo naman) o si Chris Alexander (former Ginebra import) ang naging naturalized player nila. Also, my uncle in the U.S. is wondering why are those middle east countries are bunch with real Asian countries? Can anyone explain this?

    ==================================================================================================

Bro, tell your uncle that Middle Eastern countries like Israel, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Iraq, Yemen, Jordan, Lebanon are still part of Asia. They are real Asian countries.

    post-5237-0-97247300-1316327454.jpg

  19. Both boxers are stupid! 50% stupidity on Ortiz side, two ways: deliberate headbutting and 'ALWAYS KEEP YOUR HANDS UP'. Take a peek at some fights, even when there's break, fighters always have that defensive stance. 100% stupidity of Mayweather..........isa lang.......TRAYDOR! Pacman was never like that during his boxing maturity years. Gayweather will NOT fight Manny, he knows that and sa nakita kong laban ni Gayweather kanina, nawawala na defense niya. No way he can beat Manny. Lastly, Ortiz and Gayweather, parehong bading hahaha. Now.......Gayweather has 7 titles. Manny 8!

    Uichico eyed to coach Archers

By JONAS TERRADOSeptember 16, 2011, 10:06pm MANILA, Philippines — Veteran PBA coach Jong Uichico is being tapped to take over as coach of the underachieving La Salle Green Archers in the UAAP, sources say.

If true, Uichico, the most successful coach in the PBA the last 12 years with eight titles under his name, will take over the post left by Dindo Pumaren, who submitted his resignation the other day after the Green Archers capped their UAAP campaign with a 5-9 win-loss card and, for the second time in three years, missed the league’s Final 4.

La Salle is not only revamping its bench, officials said in a statement that former board member and Vice Chancellor for Lasallian Mission and Alumni Relations Br. Bernie Oca, FSC, will chair the basketball program review committee as they move forward to improve on the coming seasons.

Reports, however, say that Uichico, who won his PBA championships with San Miguel Beer and Barangay Ginebra, is not keen on accepting the job although he had called the shots for the Archers in the past.

Uichico recently lost his head coaching job in the PBA after being replaced at Barangay Ginebra.

Uichico was La Salle’s head coach in the first half of the 1990s when University of Santo Tomas reigned supreme. Uichico was on the bench when the Archers suffered back-to-back championship defeats to the Tigers.

In the event Uichico declines the offer, La Salle may tap Petron Blaze assistant Gee Abanilla, who was assistant coach of Franz Pumaren during the Archers’ heyday.

Abanilla also called the shots for St. Benilde (a La Salle sister team) in the NCAA in 2008 and Hapee Toothpaste in the now-defunct PBL.
