  1. YEARS LATER, HBK NEEDS ANSWERS

Shawn Michaels is “the showstopper.” His cocky and flamboyant style has made him one of the most recognized Superstars in WWE history. He has even referred to himself as an “icon” of sports-entertainment. And who could argue? He’s held nearly every major championship there is to hold. And at one point, he figuratively carried the company on his aching back.

But in this business, every Superstar is measured against the legendary specter of one man – the immortal Hulk Hogan. Could HBK measure up to Hogan? That’s the question that has been haunting Michaels since Hogan left WWE in the mid 1990s. It was a question Michaels never got a chance to answer, until now.

When Michaels stunned the world by nailing the Hulkster with Sweet Chin Music on RAW a few weeks back, it appeared on the surface to have been a split-second decision. The reality is Michaels resentment for Hogan had been brewing for decades.

When Shawn first arrived in WWE back in the late 1980s, Hulk Hogan was on top of the sports-entertainment mountain. The movement known as Hulkamania had become a pop-culture phenomenon, making Hogan one of the most recognizable names in the world. As a result of his enormous success, the Hulkster enjoyed all the perks often associated with being the top dog. Not only did Hogan fly first-class, get driven around in stretch limousines and stay in posh hotel rooms, but he was also the first Superstar to be given his own dressing room in every arena across the country.

Just a youngster at the time trying to make it big, Michaels watched Hogan as he gained all the accolades. With eyes wide open, Shawn was committed to become everything Hogan was, and more. Michaels knew he had the ability to be the best in the world, he just needed the platform to showcase his talents. Unfortunately, however, there was no room for Michaels on the top of the card. The 302-pound WWE Champion never saw Michaels, a mere 225 pounds, as a suitable opponent. As a result, Michaels was relegated to mid-card status while Hogan continued to tour the country in first-class style.

Despite being told he was not the same caliber of Hogan, Michaels continued to persevere. Eventually, Shawn used his athletic talents to literally force his way into the Intercontinental Championship picture. During this time, Michaels competed in some of the most exciting matches ever to be seen on WWE television. According to Michaels, this was the beginning of his rise to the top. According to Hogan, however, Michaels was still not big enough to main event a card with him.

Never one to take no for an answer, HBK continued to amaze audiences. Eventually, WWE officials were forced to take notice and give Michaels the chance he always wanted. Coincidentally, HBK’s shot at greatness came just after Hulk Hogan left WWE for WCW.

With Hogan out of the picture, Michaels did what he always set out to do – represent WWE as its top star. As WWE Champion, Michaels was finally afforded all the perks Hogan once had – he had the seat in first-class, the limo driver, the fancy hotel room, his own locker room… He even began to help those close to him make a name for themselves, just as Hogan did years earlier.

Shawn Michaels had it all. Or did he?

On the surface, HBK appeared to be happier than ever. He was finally the top star. He finally jumped all the hurdles to become the biggest name in the industry. But despite all his success, Michaels still had one demon lingering in the back of his mind. Even with the WWE Championship strapped securely around his waist, HBK often wondered if he would have been able to reach the same level of success if Hogan was still a member of WWE. Ultimately, Shawn Michaels questioned whether he could beat the legend of Hulk Hogan.

On July 4, 2005, HBK took the first step in answering the question he needs answered. When Michaels delivered Sweet Chin Music to Hulk Hogan, he was extending a challenge he knew the Hulkster could not refuse, a challenge 20 years in the making. While many have questioned the route Michaels has taken to make this dream match a reality, one thing is for certain, Shawn Michaels will have all his questions answered.

Can Shawn Michaels beat Hulk Hogan? HBK will finally find out at SummerSlam.

TAMA KA DUN CACTUS JACK, WHEN WWE RATINGS WERE FALTERING DURING THE MONDAY NIGHT WARS WITH WCW, IT WAS SHAWN MICHEALS THAT CARRIED THE COMPANY ON HIS ACHING BACK, THOUGH BERT HART, IN MY OPINION WAS THE BETTER WRESTLER. MICHEALS HAD MORE CHARISMA, THE BETTER ENTERTAINER, IKA NGA. YOU WOULD REALLY LOVE HIM AS A FACE AND HATE HIM AS A HEEL. KAYANG KAYA NI MICHEALS GAWIN IYON. WHEN BRET TURNED HEEL BEFORE LEAVING FOR THE WCW, PARANG DI NIYA MAGAWA ANG GINAGAWA NI MICHEALS AS A HEEL, HE'S NOT THAT ARROGANT AND OPINIONATED. THATS THE REASON WHY HART LEFT FOR THE WCW, HE REALLY DIDNT FIT IN THE WWE'S CHANGE OF PROGRAM UNLIKE MICHEALS WHO COULD, TOGETHER WITH THE ROCK, HHH AND OF COURSE AUSTIN.

GIVE THE GUY CREDIT, HE LED THE WAY FOR OTHERS IN TERMS OF SPORTS ENTERTAINMENT EVEN WHEN BEFORE HIS COMPANY STARTED NOT TO DO GOOD, WITH HIS LADDER MATCHES, AND STEEL CAGE MATCHES. THOUGHT, IN MY OPINION, I STILL DONT CONSIDER HIM AN ICON. FLAIR IS VERY MUCH ONE. HHH COULD BE THE NEXT, HBK...I DONT KNOW. MASYADONG MATAGAL DIN SYA NAWALA SA EKSENA. DAMI NG PUMALIT SA KANYA SINCE THEN. GUESS THATS THE DIFFERENCE NAMAN NILA NI HOGAN...KAHIT NA ANONG GENERATION, THE FANS COULD EASILY RELATED TO HOGAN. KAYA GANUN NA LANG ANG GALIT(?) NIYA SA KANYA...at least thats what the wwe wants us to think, hehehe...

I GUESS ITS JUST A MATTER OF PREFERENCE. IF YOU WANT TALAGANG BAKBAKAN, AS IN THE "REAL THING", BY ALL MEANS, WATCH THE UFC. BUT IF YOU LIKE TO BE ENTERTAINED, PARANG TELESERYE BA, THEN WATCH PRO WRESTLING. I PERSONALLY LIKE PRO WRESTLING, TIPONG GOOD PREVAILING OVER EVIL...AT KUWELA KASI EH.

  3. notnot,

bulgari chrono....if am not mistaken my dad has one too....nice watch tho for a chrono i find the circumference of the face quite small. was about to wear it actually, kaso lang my wrist is small, pag binawasan ko yung link di maganda yung porma sa wrist ko....don't know why.

right now, favorite watch am using, rolex solid gold yacht master men's size....para masulit yung binayad ko sa service....langya it was quite expensive. hopefully it will take another few years before i have it serviced.

    mild seven,

actually, the 1st time i saw that BVLGARI CHRONO was in the movie of val kilmer "the saint", i got curious and liked to own one ever since. im saving for it now, mas mura on ebay, its $3,000 but i saw another chrono version sa seoul, sk which cost around $5,000, dont know if it was the same model. for the meantime im enjoying my tag heuer pro f1.

  4. The agreed original plan between Bret and Vince was for Bret not to lose the title to Shawn (Bret really HATED Shawn and don't want to lose the title to him).  And Bret will give up the title the next night on RAW and leave for WCW. But of course, we all know what happened.. Vince defense was it was a "time honored tradition" that if a wrestler is leaving, he should lose the title first before leaving. Fearing that Bret will trash the title when he goes to WCW (same as what Alundra Blayze did by putting the WWE women's title in the trash on WCW Nitro), Vince did what he thought he had to do to protect his title.

kakamiss talaga when there was competition... kaya nga sana maging major competitor ang TNA para exciting uli ang wrestling.  :P

ive to agree too, miss ko na rin ang wwe/wcw competition nun. kahit na nagkakalabuan na kami ng ex gf ko nun, basta raw/nitro was on that night, ive to be home to watch it, hehehe. pero syempre, wwe fan ako all the way. but ive to admit , the competition was great for the fans. with the oldies going to wcw, like hogan, savage, hart, nash, etc, napilitan tuloy ang wwe i-push sila austin, the rock, hhh, mankind. thank goodness they did. dont get me wrong, im a big fan of hogan, im an old school wrestling fan pero AUSTIN AND ROCK KICKS ASS, LITERALLY! tna has a long way to go to be like wcw before, simply because wwe is still all over the place.

  5. parang unholy alliance ah... signing a deal with the devil...

...tsk, tsk, tsk, money, money, money...

cant really blame the guy. wwe is still the premier sports entertainment outfit. no offense sa tna fans, pero one has to admit, wwe is the standard bearer of pro wrestling since the wcw downfall. plus, down si bret hart nakilala, no other pro wrestling outfit could say that.

  6. ^ Yeh

Actually, the 2 have been talking for quite some time now. Now that Hart & McMahon have reconciled, there are talks for a Bret Hart return to the ring.

WWE is also producing a DVD aout Hart. They also plan to induct him into the WWE Hall Of Fame next year, making him the centerpiece of the ceremonylike Hogan was this year.

pero, correct me if im wrong, didnt bret hart suffered a stroke awhile back?

  7. REALITY BITES SOUNDTRACK..

    ALL I WANT IS YOU - U2

    You say you want

Diamonds on a ring of gold

    You say you want

    Your story to remain untold

But all the promises we make

From the cradle to the grave

When all I want is you

    You say you’ll give me

A highway with no one on it

Treasure just to look upon it

All the riches in the night

    You say you’ll give me

Eyes in a moon of blindness

A river in a time of dryness

    A harbour in the tempest

But all the promises we make

From the cradle to the grave

When all I want is you

    You say you want

Your love to work out right

To last with me through the night

    You say you want

Diamonds on a ring of gold

    Your story to remain untold

Your love not to grow cold

    All the promises we break

From the cradle to the grave

When all I want is you

    You...all I want is...

    You...all I want is...

    You...all I want is...

    You...

pinabibilib mo talaga ako scent, pareho tayo ng taste sa songs...bukod sa ALL I WANT IS YOU ng U2,

IN YOUR EYES ng the late peter gabriel is also on the top of my list.

  8. THE MUSIC OF THE EIGHTIES OPENED MY EYES TO THIS JOURNEY THAT WE CALL LIFE...

the first half of the decade, i listen to a freakasoid named micheal jackson, phil collins, air supply? and old school rap na pang breakdancing...give me a break...i was young. but the last half was better...tears for fears, depeche mode, INXS, and a little known band from ireland...U2. Ahhh, yes...those were the days of new wave.

  9. not to point fingers...BUT THEIR EGOS GOT THE BEST OF THEM. i WAS a fan before when they were starting pa lang but foe me , they lost their luster after their 1st album, naging novelty act na lang sila.

  10. there's a western style steak house in the city of orange in orange county. i forgot the exact name but it has lone star something yata. they have this 21oz. steak na super juicy and tender. i like it medium. nakakabusog kahit yun lang kainin mo ... 21oz. ba naman. presyo nya nga lang $30 hehehe. i know, feeling left out ako kasi hindi nyo naman alam ang pinagsasabi ko. just sharing my thoughts though.

its lone star steakhouse and saloon, and its in tustin, just beside orange. sarap talaga ang kanilang steaks, their dinner rolls and salads are very gud too.

I remember also, Hocksaw JIm chuva! British BUlldog, Jake d Snake roberts, Rubbishing rick rude -si savage ba sya? Andre the giant. Syempre si HUlk hogan halos awayin ko na lahat ng tao para sa kanya. Si macho man na bwisit! Sino nga ba ung nanginginig lagi? :)

At pinaka da-best pag asa cage sila at royal rumble. :)

Haaayyy miss my childhood days :)

its seldom...in fact never, have i encountered a member of the opposite sex whose interested in wrestling and diving. your a rare breed, scent. anyway, miz the good old days of wrestling din pero a lot of things have changed na rin, wish that magkaroon ulit ng rivalry ang mga promotions tulad ng wwe vs wcw dati, pero siyempre, wwe all the way pa rin.

  12. GOLDBERG is now a host sa isang tv show sa discovery channel d2 sa states. forgot the title but its an automotive show that tackles hot rods and cool motorcycles. bagay na bagay sa kanya since hobby niya talaga ito even before pa sya mag wrestling. dont know if he plans to go back to wwe, since i think, correst me if im wrong, my clause siya sa contract niya with wwe that he couldnt wrestle anywhere else.

i got to watch GOLDBERG na naman sa show nya kanina d2, correction pala, its AUTO MANIAC sa HISTORY CHANNEL. he's like a regular guy lang hosting a show on fast cars and bikes, may comedy every now and then.
