  1. i am disheartened by rampage's decision to leave the UFC. hopefully he's just making tampo and things will be resolved within the next few weeks. i really want to see a rashad/rampage fight. and who knows maybe if/when he returns he'll have another crack at shogun :)

it's ludicrous how he thinks he has a career in acting...geeeez

  2. PACMAN being able to withstand punches specially against BIGGER opponents still has to be proven ... he was never " fully tested" in his battle against Diaz, Dela Hoya and Hatton. These guys hardly landed a solid blow.

Not too quick on this one ... YES Floyd and Pacman both had their individual battle with Oscar but under different circumstances. When Floyed faced Dela Joya @ 154 the former have to go up in weight. This Dela Joya then was at his comfort zone in terms of weight so to speak. Floyd who is not really known to be a great knockout artist had difficulty knocking Oscar out and settled for a decision. On the other hand Oscar need to go down to 147 vs Pacman. As we probably all know it is easier to gain weight than to loose weight. As such, this really took its toll on Oscar when he fought Manny. He was just too weak during fight night.

My view here is that at 147 lbs Floyed will be stronger that Pacman but at the same time he could match up with Manny's speed therefore Floyd will have an advantage. There is also the reach advantage making it more difficult for MAnny to come close and hit the target.

Against Juan Marquez the fight was supposed to be at 144 lbs but Floyd weight in at 146 then came in at around 160 ... we saw the results.

i agree 100%. couldn't have said it any better :)

  3. PBF was OVERWEIGHT even at welterweight. Had to pay 600K USD as a fine. Marquez shouldn't have fought him with that kind of disadvantage. He hit PBF a couple of times, but had no effect. The guy was just too big. But MAN that DEFENSE was masterful. Boring, perhaps, but I kept thinking, how can PACMAN get through that defense? PBF protects his jaw with his shoulder. And was too fast on his feet.

i was thinking the same thing. from a mainstream fan point of view floyd is rather boring...but boring or not you have to admire his skills. really makes me wonder what would happen if they were to face each other in the ring...i honestly can't see puckyaw winning by any other way except KO/TKO. and if floyd was to win, it would probably be a unanimous decision

  4. Manny has developed lateral movements (side to side) which he didn't have when he fought Marquez twice. As Roach said, if Manny duked it out with Marquez now, Marquez would get knocked out. As I said, Marquez was a sitting duck and was easy to hit. Roach again was on the money when he picked Gayweather to win on points. Gayweather would have to deal with MP's lateral movements which would make Pacman difficult to hit. No offense taken dude. That's your take. You're entitled to it.

that was some pretty good insight, im looking forward to seeing this lateral movement when puckyaw faces cotto, he's really going to need it to avoid the power of cotto.

  5. Oh no...

“Maybe the ones who have said that I’m done are right. Obviously, I can’t break my mental block in the Octagon. Besides, I’ve been training like a spartan for 20 years now — my body is worn out. The years caught up to me, I’ve been worn out…. [Junior dos Santos] won that fight and would have won it by decision. Simply put, he is younger, more hungry, more aggressive. He wanted to win a lot more…. The mat was slippery like glass. I almost fell down trying to do the left high kick. But I’m not looking for an alibi. This was not the performance the public would pay for. I don’t feel the hunger anymore. I started playing it safe, I’m not ready to take risks. I would like to thank everybody that supported me and stood by me and everyone who helped me to prepare for this fight. I’ve been living a military life for 20 years now. Getting up at 6 a.m. and having physically challenging task up to 8 p.m. I want a normal life. I’m entering a cage and thinking about fishing in Privlaka. You can’t win that way. Maybe I should’ve quit after I won the open weight grand prix.

    - Mirko "Cro Cop" Filipovic

i am somewhat relieved that he decided to step down...sure changing his training methods could work in his favor, but over his previous fights in the ufc it has become obvious that his will to win has diminished each time. he really looks like a fighter that has NOT evolved since his pride days IMO. regardless, whether he decides to step down as fighter or not, he will always be regarded as a legend in MMA :)

  6. I don't think Mayweather could handle Pacman. Marquez was a sitting duck to Mayweather's jabs. Pacman has lateral movements which Marquez lacks and kung ganun yung paglaban ni Marquez at si Pacman kalaban nya, malamang knockout si Marquez kay Manny. In a Pacman vs Gayweather match, I pick Pacman to win by TKO.

no offense but i disagree. puckyaw had a pretty tough time against marquez both times they fought. now i know pacman has improved a lot since they last fought, i also know that comparing marquez/mayweather to marquez/puckyaw has little basis...but with the superior speed floyd displayed against marquez, makes me wonder if puckyaw can handle the speed, power and defensive prowess of pretty boy floyd. now i really want puckyaw to beat cotto so we can see a mayweather/puckyaw duel

  7. Holy Sh*t!! A bloody match to start season 10 of TUF..

That dude's head was spilt open much like the Vitor Belfort vs. Marvin Eastman match..

if you live in the philippines, how were you able to watch the season opener??

stream ba o may channel sa tv??

  8. it will definitely be a huge test for brandon to face someone like captain america. the truth has the advantage standing up for sure, but i am however more interested if he can keep the fight standing against a world class wrestler like couture. you would think couture has the advantage in the wrestling game simply because he is the naturally bigger fighter. if vera can stop the takedowns, i expect a unanimous victory or stoppage via TKO

  9. just a question for guys knowledgeable on the topic

assuming i eat correctly, workout 3/4 times a week and have proper rest days, would doing sets off pullups, dips and dumbbell shoulder press exercises be enough to stimulate growth??

i forgot to mention i had surgery on my knee and im still in the process of rehabilitation. so with that said i do lower body exercises (although only on my bad knee) like one legged squats, reverse lunges/lunges, calf raises, leg raises, and hamstring curls. i know my bad knee isn't strong enough to do exercises like dead lifts/squats etc but i do intend to incorporate those into my workout once my knee allows me to.

again my question is. if these are the exercises i do, would they be enough to stimulate muscle growth??

typical exercise sched in a week would be:

    day 1 upper body

    day 2 lower body

    day 3 rest

    day 4 upper body

    day 5 rest

    day 6 lower body

    day 7 rest

any insight would be greatly appreciated :thumbsupsmiley:

  10. walang gradual na pag quit. it's either you quit or you don't. ^^

    exacto mundo

if you really want to quit, believe me you can do it. obviously the longer you've been smoking the harder it is...but i truly believe that if you really want something you have to sacrifice to reach that goal. so quitting is definitely possible kung gugustuhin mo talaga.

  11. did he started his training already?.. last time i heard is that he's still on a promotional tour for the fight.

    he hasn't started yet

and to think cotto has already been training for about 3 weeks if i remember correctly...i could be wrong though

  12. what the eff?! gee bob arum just ruined my beautiful sun morning...what an effing racist. boxing is great, its just sad that people like arum take away from the sport by saying crap like this. the boxing industry is all about money now. top competition has very little if not nothing to do with it now

  13. you should always look beyond statistics to judge who the great players are.

i think MJ is the best player of all time because of:

    1. He was competetive and will do everything to win. The best performance I've seen so far by any athlete was that game in, i think, game 5 of '97 finals against the Utah Jazz. MJ had a stomach flu and was physically weak. His teammates had to physically carry him to the bench during timeouts. Against all physical odds, he carried his team to victory and actually made that crucial 3 pointer that won them the game. It was just sheer determination to win.

    2. He demands excellence. I've seen MJ in Rodman's face or whoever his teammates were that were not trying hard. As he said, he could not accept not trying.

    3. He respected the game. He did not do anything that will harm the image of the nba.

    4. He made his teammates look better. Remember the pass to Steve Kerr in game 6 of '97 finals. Steve Kerr's basket sealed them the title.

    5. He made game winning shots not only in regular season but most importantly in playoffs and finals. He made shots that changed the tempo of the game. That beautiful lay-up in game 2 of '91 finals against the Lakers. That running jumper against Phoenix in '93 finals. That winning jumper on top of the key in game 1 of '97 finals against the Jazz.

    6. He is a complete player. Most people forget that MJ is also a good defensive player. At one time he led the nba in scoring and steals (although AI did that also). MJ was named to nba all defensive team I think 7 or 8 times.

i'd like to add he was also defensive player of the year in 1988 i think :thumbsupsmiley:

  14. oh yeah that's right. i forgot that swick was teammates w/ those guys at AKA my bad. but yeah i agree w/ your point about matt hughes

i actually like the carwin-lesnar matchup. i mean yeah apart from gonzaga, carwin hasn't had a fight against a decent-caliber heavyweight but the fact that he's just as big and maybe just as athletic as brock makes not just for a great draw but also for a great fight. and by putting carwin against lesnar, that also keeps cain in title contention where he'll face the winner of carwin/brock assuming he wins his next fight.

brock actually had it the same way when he faced couture for the HW belt. and we all know brock didn't deserve such an early title shot. but business is business.

  15. so what kng mlaki si cotto?! ibig b sbihin nun, pnalo n xa???

si manny nkakaalam ng condition ng body nya!!!

so kng hnggang 8 weeks lng ang kya ng body, hnggang dun lng limit nya!!!

brod mga pinoy kayo, ialis nyo n ung "crab mentality!"

wla nman msama mgmayabang eh, kng mei ipagmamayabang k nman!!!!

    supportahan nyo nlang!!!!

i didn't say cotto was big, i said he was a big challenge. i agree with you that only manny knows his body better than anyone, but he's starting to be a big head. the moment you start doing things your own way that's when trouble starts imo. if he was doing more than 8 weeks before and he as winning, why should he change that now against his toughest opponent yet??

don't get me wrong, im a huge pacquiao fan. i want nothing more than for him to knock out cotto. but cotto is an extremely dangerous fighter and it bothers me manny hasn't gone down the same route he did when he defeated the likes of diaz, dela hoya, hatton and the like. i wouldn't be worried if pacquiao would only train 8 weeks against a lesser opponent but that is clearly not the case.
