  1. true. if not for scottie's energy baka tambak pa din ang pilipinas. di na nakaporma yung mga qataris nung nag-umpisa ang 3rd quarter. scottie should be a shoo-in for the home games against the kazakhs and iranians. pwede kayang scottie-jayson sa backcourt? parehong the blur. can you just imagine ang sigawan ng mga tao pag makakakuha ng rebound si scottie "GI-NE-BRA!!! GI-NE-BRA!!!" :D :D :D

team pilipinas will be in full force by november...junemar, greg, standhardinger. hopefully papasok na din ang mga 3s natin.

(in the voice of magoo marjon)

"Rebounded by Scottie, outlet pass to Greg, lobs it to Japhet for the alley - oop!"

    "YESSS - BASTOS JAM"

and the massive crowd in the Phil. Arena goes:

    "GINEB-RA! GINEB-RA! GINEB-RA! GINEB-RA! GINEB-RA!"

  2. Alex Cabagnot top scored together with Japhet - both of them 16pts.

I would rather have cabagnot again than Terrence Romeo dahil wala naman playmaking skills si Romeo puro tira lang at dribble alam di sya uubra sa sistema ni coach Yeng.

If Cstan will be the naturalized for Kazakhstan, then Scottie, Castro, Lee and Cabagnot are the PG's.

Sanggalang's game is not fit for the international game, change with Troy Rosario.

Asi will give way for Greg and Almazan for Junmar.

Keep Erram, that guy is a good defender.

Keep Lassiter.

With Greg and Junmar healthy, I say we may never need Andray Blatche again. Kailangan lang ay long preparation time.

And then Japhet being the steady prescence.

I hope scottie will be favored again sa next window. Japhet is always a sure ball sa National team, he is very comfortable playing with Team Pilipinas kahit sino pa coach.

  4. Iba talaga ang Scottie natin. Gandang contribution sa ating national team vs. Iran. Buo ang puso.

I felt na kung mas nababad si Scottie kesa kay Cabagnot o Lassiter na malas baka nag iba ang takbo but ganun talaga all of us are waiting for a Lassiter explosion di lang talga nangyari puro open naman ang tira

  5. Well, that is all we get kapag kaunting panahon lang ang practice.

familiarity and chemistry issue again.

Paul Lee bakit ganun laro nun andami laging bad pass at forced shots?

I hope JMF will be available that time

Bawas sa preparation time. Anyways pareho naman sila ng qatar.

  6. for those asking:

    - slaughter still not 100%

    - standhardinger & pringle are considered naturalized players (only 1 of them can be included in the lineup at a time)

    - aguilar & wright suspended 1 game (which is the iran game)

    - lineup can be changed for sept 17 game vs qatar (home game closed door but with TV coverage)

Next window last week nov to 1st week december. Both games ng Gilas at home vs Kaz and Iran

    - JMF and Greg can play together during that nov. window AT HOME

  7. FINALLY! Thank you ASI!

Kahit member ka ng MVP team, you said it well and good.

Its time to change this Thread name too - PAGING MODS, PLEASE CHANGE THIS THREAD TO "TEAM PILIPINAS"

End of Gilas era as Guiao boys declare: 'Call us Team Pilipinas'

    https://www.spin.ph/basketball/fiba/end-of-gilas-era-as-guiao-boys-declare-call-us-team-pilipinas-a2437-20180907

MEMO from Asi Taulava: Don't call this group Gilas Pilipinas.

The 45-year-old slotman issued the clarification on Thursday as he made the distinction between this Yeng Guiao-coached Philippine team to the previous iterations of the national team.

"First of all, I wanna correct that. This is coach Yeng's time. Under coach Yeng's time, we want to be known as Team Pilipinas," he said.

Taulava said that moving on from the "Gilas" brand is integral as Philippine basketball looks ahead to its future, starting in the second round of the 2019 Fiba World Cup Asian qualifiers this September.

"You know Gilas, that's in the past. It's time to change the image of Philippine basketball. We want to go away with those moniker names and things like that," he said.

  8. Nice win!

Clearly fatigue caught them in the 4Q, hindi na mahabol si Pringle.

Playing 3 games in 6 days mula sa mahabang bakasyon took a toll on them plus only 9 players in the rotation right now.

LA showing signs that he should have been included in Gilas pool.

Mahabang pahinga kasunod, time to heal for those injured players.

top of the standings right now. And base sa format this conf, top 4 na lang hahabulin mo kasi 1-4 twice to beat ng 5 to 8 so walang masyadong problema dahil maganda umpisa.

    3-0

  9. Hahaha naka positive or. Good vibes ng thread na to... Dati puro badvibes... Hahaha.. Nagyun ayus na ayus....

    Hehe.

    GOOD NEWS LIST:

    1. Kick out na si Chup at very reliable ang ipinalit in coach yeng

    2. SMC has unload their full support to coach Yeng

in short, only chup reyes is the one causing SMC's hesitations sa pagpapahiram ng players.

  11. 2-0!!

JBL is a monster with 45pts and almost a triple double!

and japhet getting his groove back kahit may slight injury pa.

Ellis Jr is making up for JDV, grabe dami nating injured (Sol, JDV, Sargent, Jervy, Art)

    Next game sa wednesday

  12. If the Kraken cannot really play then its a shoo in for Erram and Almazan for the center position

Here is my "maybe closer to reality" pool of 16 PBA players

    C - Erram, Alamazan, Greg

    PF - Stanhardinger, Belga, Sanggalang

    SF - Norwood, Belo, Santos

    SG - Cabagnot, Lassiter, Thompson

PG - Ahanmisi, Tenorio, Lee, Amer

Cadets: Parks Jr, Kobe, Tratter, Rivero

Take for example ngayong ASEAN games. Kung may JMF sa ilalim baka nanalo pa tayo against China and Korea.

    FYI

For this ASIAN GAMES lineup, SMC loaned Stanhardinger and Paul Lee and they are the main financial backer together with ROS and BW management.

If not for SMC's contribution with other agencies and govt officials, walang mapapadalang token team.

For the FIBA qualifier, lets wait and see kung anong mangyayari.

  14. we won against a depleted Japan side yesterday, and James Yap not playing due to ankle injury.

Next game will be against Syria or Indonesia, pag nanalo sure ball 5th place.

Papano pala na injured si Kraken? Sa practice ba? Sure ball na daw kasi na hindi makakalaro sa next window, so Greg is a must already

  15. This article captured it all

    You're not to blame, Yeng

    https://www.spin.ph/basketball/fiba/there-are-people-to-blame-for-failure-to-win-asiad-medal-but-it-sure-ain-t-guiao-a2380-20180828

A coach taking the blame for a loss is nothing new. That’s in the old sports dictum that, in defeat, a coach takes the blame and, in victory, gives the players all the credit. That’s a dictum that wins respect from players.

But in this case, Guiao doesn’t have to. He is not to blame for the loss. Neither are his players. Nor, more so, him and his players. The team played a hell of a game. The coaching staff he led gave its best. One player actually chipped two teeth diving for the ball, and if that isn’t proof these players put team goals above personal safety — what is?

But if Guiao is looking at where blame really falls, he can focus on the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP), whose indecisiveness created the atmosphere of confusion in the country’s Asian Games basketball campaign.

There it is. The SBP is so obsessed with FIBA that it nearly ignored the Asian Games which, it is now only discovering, is also important to Filipinos. In fact, the country may have had a better chance at bringing in an Asian Games gold than it has at bagging a slot in the FIBA World Cup. All it took was for the SBP to plan ahead and form a more competitive team. In other words, for the SBP to do its job.
