  1. I bought an (ACER) EMachines D725 a year ago.

    Intel Dual-Core T4200 @ 2GHz

    Intel GMA 4500MHD video adapter

    4GB dual-channel DDR2-800 (upgraded from 2GB single-channel)

    320GB HDD (upgraded from 160GB)

Battery life: 4+ hours (Multiple instances of MSOffice programs with wifi receiver turned-off)

I urgently needed a utilitarian and no-frills laptop for my presentations, word-processing, and web-browsing needs that time. I didnt want anything expensive or fancy (since these become obsolete anyway in a mere 3-4 years and i have no use for the added ports). Something that's low-profile and doesn't scream "Hey mister mugger i have a very expensive and shiny laptop you can steal!". I was actually considering a lenovo netbook because of portability issues but i was turned-off by the fact that they dont come with built-in optical drives. At first i was skeptical since i knew EMachine's reputation in the US before being bought by Gateway and then ACER. So far it has been serving me well. No problems encountered. It's fast enough for what i use it for and has good battery life. Great bang for the buck!

  2. Anyone here remember the comics "Psi-Force"?

I like the power's of Wayne Tucker to "Push" people (telepathically control the thoughts and actions of multiple targets simultaneously).

...now, when i tell someone to kiss their own a**, they will.

  3. I prefer reading books then watching the movie version. There are more details of events written in books (it's also quite difficult to convey thoughts in movies).

Still...i also watch the movie version, just to put faces on the characters.

  4. Used to love eating at BM near our campus when i was still a college stude at UPLB. Where else can you get a burger at 2am in the morning in Laguna? lol

Mas masarap pa burger nila kaysa Jollibee (i really hate that pink sauce)...di ko lang alam ngayon, it's been years since i last ate at any BM stall.

  5. I'm sorry to bother you with this but I don't know anyone else whom I can ask for advice. I want to buy my brother a laptop and he wants a quad core one. I searched for it's price on net and it's around 80-100K and my budget is only around 50K. My sister suggested to buy a dual core instead of the quad core. What's the difference between these two (except of course dual is 2 and quad is 4). And is it really a necessity to buy this quad-core thing for a computer engineering student as my brother implied to me?

    Dagdag lang....

You mentioned that your brother is an engineering student right? Go for the Quad Core. I'm assuming they will be taught to use AutoCAD. This program can really bring a CPU to it's knees. AutoCAD is designed for multi-core processors, the more cores the better the performance. If you can't find a good Quad-Core laptop at your 50K range, get the best Core 2 Duo or Core i3 based laptop you can get. Don't look at the price of the laptop to determine the power of the cpu. I've seen cheap laptops with more powerful cpu's than their expensive counterparts.

  6. san makakabili ng mother board with two processor slot nid ko kc para mabilis ang editing ko at pagwa ng mga ids

Ang alam ko lang (correct me if i'm wrong) na mga motherboard na may slot para sa dalawang physical CPU ay yung pang server (i.e. Intel Xeon)...it's not easy finding them on mainstream computer shops. And you don't need those, prohibitively expensive kasi. Just go for boards that can support Core i5's or i7's (if you're an intel guy) or boards that support AMD phenom II's. Kung editing lang at paggawa ng layout ng id gagawin mo overkill na ang Quad-Core CPU.

  7. Wala bang kaso kung DDR2 lang ang RAM mo, tapos DDR3 ang videocard???

Nope. No problems with differing RAM types. The memory on your GPU is accessed exclusively by the GPU only.

Anyway, i used to have two Geforce 8800 GTS's in SLI config, recently upgraded it to two Geforce 250 GT's (also in SLI config).
