  1. speaking of walk-around lenses, i got myself a sigma 18-200mm 3.5-6.3 for my nikon D70. i'm sure the Nikon 18-200mm VR is much better, but given that it's almost 3 times the price, i opted for the sigma and i absolutely love it.

  2. you mean like this?

i don't think you'll find anything thats 150 cc with the same looks, sound, 'porma' and reliability. Still, i'd go for a 250.

yes, underbone racing is very popular and very intense nowadays. Serious racers spend unbelievable amounts of money to set up their bikes. Some serious teams even compete in other countries in South East Asia.

  3. may questions lang ako..

    1) kelangan ba ng separate license to drive a bike?

you need to add restriction code 1 (motorcycles) to your existing drivers license. shouldn't take too long or be much of a hassle.

    2) ano tawag sa mga bikes like hondas n suzukis? yung pinang kakarera?

i dunno what you mean. but the most popular races are for sportbikes (CBR, R1, GSXR, Ducati, etc.) and underbones (XRM, Wave, Raider, etc.).

    3) ano ba good fuel consumption ng bike? kungyari sa kotse ay mga 8-12Km/L depends pa sa makina.. eh sa bike ba how much?

pinaka magastos in my experience was around 15 km/L pero super laki and uhaw na yung bike na yun.

may nakita kasi akong ad.. motortrade ang name ng company or make ng bike?.. d ko sure.. pero cougar ang model ng bike.. 62K ito specs...

    cylinder: single cylinder

    engine type: 4 stroke

    displacement: 150cc

    boke x stroke 61 x 49.5,,

    max horse power: 11.8kw/ 9500 r/min

    max torque: 10.2Nm / 7800 / 8500 r/min

    ignition system: CDI magneto

    starting system: kick/ electric

    fuel tank capacity: 13L

wat do u guys think? pang drive around lang naman e.. ndi pang karera.. THANX!

i'm not familiar with that bike or brand so can't really comment. but as much as possible, stay away from china/korean bikes. Their prices are enticing but quality control is not as stringent. I'm sure there are a lot of reliable chinese/korean bikes on the road now, but it's hit and miss as far as i've heard. You may well be buying into a lot of maintenance expenses.

  4. lucky? maybe. unless you consider the fact that i inherited the running expenses along with the bike. But what a beautiful bike it is! if only i can really use it... It even uses different spark plugs! :(

i've long suspected that that was you, but i never knew you were a 2-stroke guy so i couldn't be sure hehe ;)

brotnik: you can buy pocket bikes almost anywhere now. pati tiyangge, meron na. expect to pay more or less around 35k for it.

  5. i have nothing against 2 strokers. i actually recently bought a '92 honda HRC RS250 that i was going to use for racing. USD forks, everything fully adjustable, no starter, no keys, no lights, dry clutch, total loss wiring, super light and everything HRC! Unfortunately, only street-spec bikes are allowed at the local BRC races. non-production race bikes are illegal. Besides that, the piston rings have to be replaced every 300kms, the pistons every 500kms, the connecting rods every 1000kms, and the crank at around every 1500kms just to keep it running in top form to race it seriously. Even the cylinders and heads are consumable. And with the rebuild kit costing over $1500 USD, i'd much rather race my Duc. Instead, i got myself a Honda RVF to race the 400 series. But what i would give to race the RS... with 80+ bhp at the rear wheel, it's power to weight ratio is phenomenal. i'd bet it would put a few 600's to shame.

hey stroker, i'm starting to think maybe i know who you are... lol

Don, 2nd hand is fine. search the forums at www.motorcycleasia.com or www.motorcyclephilippines.com for tips on buying a 2nd hand bike. expect to spend anywhere between 80 to 100++ grand for a 250. But i'm sure you could find one for as low as 60k if your lucky. be patient and look around. good luck!

  6. can't go wrong with hondas. best bet is a nc23 CBR400RR tri-arm or a nc24/30 VFR400. looks good, lots of parts, pretty quick, not that expensive, and it holds its resale value fairly well.

you could also go the 250cc route which is even cheaper but a little harder to find second hand. They're also technically not highway-legal, but who really checks anymore? good 4-stroke 250 choices include the honda CBR250 and kawasaki ZXR250, which are fairly common.

another reccomendable bike is the honda NSR250 2-stroke, which also looks good and is often cheaper and much lighter to handle. unfortunately, 2-strokes cost a little more in terms of consumption and maintenance. they also smoke a lot and sound like lawnmowers compared to their 4-stroke bretheren, which is why spending a little more for a 4-stroke is a better idea.

  7. aba! 3 bikers on the same page!

Dauntless: yes please! HRC velocity stacks and CDI na rin! hehe. love na kita! PM me on MCA! :D

Valentino: Nice bike bro. see you both on MCA! :thumbsupsmiley:

    Cheers!

  8. fastest i've ever driven:

220 kph on a ducati 748R on star tollway. The bike didn't even break a sweat. Apparently, it was i who was doing all the sweating.

160 kph / 100 mph on a harley davidson sportster 883 on coastal road. solid mounted V-twin harley engines vibrate like nothing in the world and by no means are harleys meant to go fast. The vibration generated by squeezing 160 kph out of the smallest-engined harley in production was enough to break the glass off of the oil temp gauge. Needless to say, i'm not trying that again.
