    Are You Good At Small Talk?

    Large groups stress me out so it's sometimes challenging to make small talk during large occasions - where it's probably needed or used the most. Ultimately, I think, it depends on the company you have at the time. Some people just don't have the same interests as you and some discussion points are just too mundane or irrelevant to you personally.

    Fortunate enough to have overheard a discussion on this on the radio with details....

     

    1) Probable cause. The apprehending officer needs to show probable cause to have stopped you over or ask you to take a sobriety test. They need to be explicit on why they feel you to are actually drunk (smell, speech slurry, bad driving)

    2) Field Sobriety Test. You need to fail a set of standard tests before breath analysis is used. Walking in straight line, balancing on one leg, etc Only if you fail is when the breathalyzer is administered.

    3) breathalyzer. You MUST ask for this before you can be charged with a DUI. NO breathalyzer means that the enforcing officer cannot do an arrest or enforce the fine as there needs to be irrefutable proof and the burden rests with the apprehending officer.

    4) if you fail, officers have the option of impounding you vehicle and hauling you ass to the precinct to sleep it off plus a fairly heavy fine. Up to 80k If no injuries or accidents.

    5) if you have a professional drivers license then your screwed as the law mandates zero blood alcohol level when operating a vehicle.

     

    The law Stipulates a level below 0.05 percent for non professional drivers. But it's hard for most of us to actually gauge this. It's a function of the rate of alcohol ingestion vs total volume of consumption. Having two beers over three to four hours should be ok but having three beers in 15 mins as "one for the road" is pushing it. You also have to factor in the alcoholic content of your choice of poison... Just be responsible folks....
