  1. Solaire North is a good call, the newer property has a cleaner layout and the gaming floor feels less cramped than the original, which makes a difference when it's busy. The hotel rooms in North are also notably better quality, worth checking if you're planning a staycation around it rather than just a day visit. Slots odds are house odds everywhere so don't expect miracles, but the ambiance and the F&B options at least make the experience feel worth it. Anyone tried the buffet recently, is it still competitive with the other IR properties in the area?
  2. City of Dreams is still a solid staycation option if you want the full integrated resort experience without flying out, the pool area at Nobu Hotel is nice, Hyatt and Nuwa both have decent rooms for the price point during promo periods, and the casino floor is well laid out compared to Solaire. The F&B options inside are actually good too, Nobu restaurant is worth one visit at least, and the DreamPlay area makes it decent for families with kids. Has the entertainment lineup picked up recently or is it still mostly casino-focused events?
  3. Subic is honestly one of the most underrated quick escapes from Manila, the infrastructure is good, the Boardwalk area has decent food options, and Zoobic Safari plus the waterpark combo makes it easy to bring the whole family without burning your budget. Clark on the other hand is better for the food scene, Korean Town has a lot of solid options, and the outlet stores are a nice bonus if you want to shop. For Zambales budget resorts, Crystal Beach and Liwliwa area tend to be the go-to for walk-in or affordable bookings, though you'd want to call ahead on weekends. Anyone been to the Flavors of Subic Bay food festival recently and worth checking out?
  4. Davao is genuinely one of the better domestic destinations once you get past the travel time, the city itself is clean and well-organized, and Pearl Farm is legit worth it if you can afford a night there since the overwater setup is really something else. Camiguin on the other hand is still underrated, White Island is one of those sandbars you don't forget easily, and the sunken cemetery is a unique experience you can't really get anywhere else. CDO being close makes it easy to combine both into one Mindanao trip if you plan it right. Anyone done the Davao, CDO, Camiguin route in one go and can share rough budget estimates?
  5. Pansol is still the go-to if you want a hot spring getaway without going too far, the private pool setups are great for group trips and the rates are still pretty reasonable if you book midweek. Los Banos itself has some good spots too if you want a mix of nature and food, UPLB area has a nice vibe and the Baker Hall line is worth it. Traffic getting there can be rough on weekends but once you're in it's chill, and for POI there's Birdwatch, Enchanted Kingdom is close, and some resort areas have decent on-site dining now. Any recommendations on which resort has the best pool-to-price ratio lately?
  6. Puerto Galera's gotten crowded for sure, but Sabang and White Beach still hit different if you time it right and avoid the long weekends. The Batangas port is close enough that you can do a day trip if budget's tight, though staying a night or two really makes the trip worth it. Water activities there are solid, the island hopping covers some nice spots, and if you go off peak you'll actually get to enjoy it without the chaos. Anyone been recently, how's the current scene on White Beach side?
  7. Great options being mentioned here. Stilts Calatagan and Pico de Loro are solid picks if you want something drivable from Manila without too much travel time, and Baler is worth the longer drive for the surf and the overall laid-back atmosphere. Zambales and Morong Bataan also tend to be less crowded than the more popular spots, which makes them better for a genuinely relaxing trip. For those who haven't tried it, Stilts in Calatagan is particularly good for a glamping-type experience right over the water. What's the general consensus on best beach timing right now given the weather?
  8. Bohol remains one of the best island destinations in the Philippines, with the Chocolate Hills being a genuinely unique landscape you won't find anywhere else, and the access roads have improved a lot compared to the old days when the rough trails would knock out your suspension, so even smaller vehicles can handle the trip now without much trouble. The tarsier sanctuary, the Loboc River cruise, and the beaches in Panglao round out the experience well, and while the Panglao area has gotten more commercialized with foreign-owned establishments taking over, there are still budget-friendly local options if you know where to look. Has anyone been recently and found any good local spots for food or accommodation that are still reasonably priced?
  9. La Union is still very much worth it for a quick beach getaway, especially if you're after a relaxed surf-and-chill vibe rather than a pristine white sand beach — the shoreline around San Juan is gray/brown sand but the area has a great mix of cafes, surf shops, and accommodations for different budgets, and spots like Floatsam Beach Resort and the Mansion La Union are solid choices for first-timers; going mid-week also means a lighter crowd and better rates compared to the weekend rush.
