jedimaster
GRIZZLIES notch up another W against Stephen Jackson and the rest of the Warriors. Record now is 2-2. This team now has solid player in every position. It's no longer just the 3 (Mayo, Gay and Conley). Now it has Gasol and Arthur. -------------- Grizzlies roll past Warriors Memphis Commercial Appeal "Marc Gasol doesn't mind being compared to his big brother, Pau. But the younger 7-footer isn't exactly suffering through an identity crisis. Gasol, the Grizzlies' rookie from Spain, gave the Griz production they used to get from their former franchise player. This Gasol, though, did it in a different way. Controlling the paint with brawn and grit, Gasol tallied career highs of 27 points and 16 rebounds Monday night and led the Griz past the Golden State Warriors, 90-79, in FedExForum. The name may be the same, but unlike his brother, the 23-year-old Gasol isn't making finesse his game. Quote Link to comment
jedimaster
Bring out the champagne ! Grizzlies on a rampaging 4 game streak, losses that is. It started with 4-pt loss to Nuggets. One of those could have won it game Then 5-pt loss to Suns. Another one of those could have won it game. Then a massacre from the Mike D'Antoni charged Knicks. Grizzlies came back in the next game against the Bucks but lost in overtime. Of the 4 games, 3 could have gone sideways, the team just needs to be more controlled in the closing minutes. They'll get better. GRIZZLIES ! GRIZZLIES ! GRIZZLIES ! GRIZZLIES ! Quote Link to comment

jedimaster
It's a great counter to their earlier loss against same team. Of course, it helped not having Moore and Martin for Kings. PimpDadi
I hate you Memphis Grizzlies because you traded Pau Gasol for Nothing! :thumbsdownsmiley: If you just wanted to save money, you could have gotten the expiring contracts of Brent Barry and Francisco Elson! And thats why Greg Popovich can't believe there is no conspiracy here. He could have thrown in Luis Scola and draft picks to sweeten the deal. Quote Link to comment

jedimaster
So many good things happening for the greatest basketball team . . . They got a first round draft pick next year in a 3team deal that sent Jarvis Crittenton to either Hornets or Wizards. Payback time against Thunder. Grizz had its first back-to-back wins. Conley asserted himself in 4th Quarter by scoring 14 points in win against Thunder. He's so good in that stretch that Mayo never set foot on the court for the entire same quarter. Go Grizz ! While stat says he is ineffective, they just got to give him his comfort zone. I stick to what he did in demolishing the Tigers last March (or was it April). Go Grizz ! jedimaster
Very elusive that 10th win. Past 4 tries are all losses. Welcom development is Steve Francis joining the team. Hope he accepts his role as veteran stabilizer and supplement to core of Gasol-Gay-Mayo-Conley. He should bond with Arthur and drive hard and dish to Arthur to give the guy confidence. Else, Im ok with Arthur for Dorsey exchange. There's just no love for Arthur here in Memphis because of NCAA. In fact that's what is missing in this team. A local player. The closest they got before was veteran Antoine Walker who's no longer with the team. At least NY has Starbury. Sir Pat
Don't worry, we got his brother Marc. Wider body for defense but can also score. In my opinion, getting marc gasol instead of Scola was better for the Griz. Fact is Marc Gasol is younger and second, the Griz would be better off helping LAL than the Spurs - a division rival. Greg Popovich is sour only because he knew RC Buford was working on that trade (all the GMs knew there was a firesale despite Popovich's claim that there was a conspiracy. If there was one, an investigation should be made on that KG deal where two ex-Celtics guys McHale and Ainge worked into building a championship team. Actually, it was the Lakers who were in the best position to land KG even throwing in the contract of Lamar Odom as they were that desperate to hold on to the already vocally disgruntled KB24. The only comprehensible reason is that some franchises would prefer sending their former player to "the other conference" possibly to avoid potential playoff matchups. I say the Griz go for that trade for Travis Outlaw and Conley. Money wise it should be good for them while they hold onto the expiring contract of Antoine Walker Quote Link to comment
