I've used (and continue using) the vacuum method. Simple enough to use (specially designed stopper and a hand-pump to vacuum the air out once the stopper is in place) and quite effective in my opinion. I've had wine stay quite drinkable upwards of a week. YMMV of course depending on the initial quality of the wine.

Those gizmos have gotten better. I had one some years back and found that I couldn't keep a really good seal for more than a day at the most. Then I discovered that I would finish off a bottle typically the next day anyway, and that if i wanted to go an extra day or two I could stick the bottle in the fridge and be just fine. So I tossed the damned thing and just use the cork/fridge method and have had absolutely no problems.

Likely case is that the newer stoppers are more flexible and maintain a better grip on the bottle. Been very satisfied with them so far (have had the current set for about two years now).

Then again, you might also have just gotten a "bad" batch. This is what I use:

Whats the best wine P500 can buy? 2004 Merlot?

It really depends on what is "best" for you.

If you like Merlot, you can go over the Australian or Chilean selections. I like tempranillo more than merlot, but that's because I prefer the slight bitter flavors of tempranillo. My parents would rather have shiraz and Cab sauv. Again, it's all about what you like.

Bods, Masi and Eagleyes would be more knowledgeable here.

Hi guys!

Speaking of Tempranillo, I was flying happy from the EU to Manila - the airline we took apparently stocked tempranillo as their wine! Requesting for wine as a drink, they'll give you a small bottle which has double the liquid content than if you asked for soda. :thumbsupsmiley:

Do you guys know where I can get a 48-bottle wine fridge?

I saw one displayed at Wine Depot Ortigas and another one at Terry's Podium .... they're priced ok but would just want to see other options.

Thanks.

You may want to go to Santis in Yakal also.

GE Signature Series has a 20 bottle version available in most appliance stores and S&R.

I love your answer to preserving left over wine, its just like my brother's solution. Drink more! Don't leave anything, so why bother preserving. :thumbsupsmiley:
