Microsoft makes money from selling XP. How does Mozilla makes money if Firefox is free?

Firefox is a collaborative effort from individuals around the globe, anyone can contribute to the product (provided that you can think of a cool feature that can be added into the browser as an add-on) and you will appear as the author for that particular add-on  imagine all MTC members contributing for a common project like let say "MTC Media Player" that plays nothing but porn movies  and sharing it as a free download here in the forum. Anyone who wants to use the name "MTC Media Player" into whatever marketing ads they want have to obtain a license from us (MTC) and we can charge them for that.. B)

im afraid we won't get as rich as Micro$oft's Bill Gates though..

if you like the product of Mozilla and wanted to support them, you can always shop on their website or something.. buy ur girlfriend a bag or whatever.. hehe

As of Internet Explorer 7, IE now has tabbed browsing. and it looks cleaner. its ability to hide its menu give users a bit more screenspace for viewing sites. But I still prefer firefox or Opera.

Yup I have encountered severe problems with IE even if its genuine OS of Microsoft (WinXP). The units are used on an internet cafe. That time I was using bitdefender as my anti-virus. I have set IE as the default browser and guess what happened. Java scripts flooded the IE cache with worms and viruses along with it. Bitdefender then was not able to block the attack.

The processor usage and hard disk activity goes up leaving you with an unresponsive unit.

The unit hangs up during start up. Why? Bitdefender tries to block it but it causes the system to stop up or worse hang up.

I removed the harddrive then and have it virus-scanned in an another unit.

During the scan the anti-virus finds lots of it in the IE cache and the Windows/system32 folder as well.

That was such a headache for me so I decided to return to Mozilla Firefox.

I didn't encountered anymore problems and I replaced my anti-virus as well with AVG(FREE).

Firefox browser is still the best.

still firefox but i'm falling in love with ie7. only because i'm a web designer and i'm concerned with how my website will look. on ie7 my website looks way better than firefox.

the downside however is sometimes, i have to 'alter' my css in a way that it would fit ie7, firefox and older version of ie.

i just downloaded opera and i kinda like it.

but basically firefox is still the best. hope they can give me better display in the future though.

According to web designer officemate, the compliance of Internet Explorer 7 is a big improvement over IE6 but still not there. Both Mozilla Firefox 2.0 and Opera 9.10 has maintained to a high degree of compliance with the current w3c standards. I wonder whats keeping Microsoft from doing just that. besides they have a lot of resources for it.
