What's The Greatest Rock Band For You?

The Jerks - The hardest working pinoi rock band, still standing after more than 20 years and still giving people a bang for their buck. If you've never seen these guys live at 70's Bistro every friday, then you are missing on a lot. Definitely not background music for shobiz chicka and shallow conversations. Their music grabs you by the collar, throws you on the floor and picks you up and hurls you out of the window.

just my two cents' worth... sayang, but the jerks used to grab people by the balls... you should've seen them in the old days of punk. the bistro is a retirement home for aging rock bastards... peace

of course, THE SEX PISTOLS

The most recognisable band name and members in punk rock. The first and the best. This band alone stood in the centre of the maelstrom with their manager Malcolm McClaren conducting before they all lost the plot in a welter of acrimony and chaos. . The music, lyrics & attitude were their own. Sneering vocals, incendiary guitars and a desire to shock and provoke was something not seen before. The swindlers of rock n roll!!!!!

That's the moniker music critics tend to use to describe Radiohead...

Sorry to break the party but we have to go back to the end of the 1970's going into the 1980s. Punk was winding down from its crescendo. The pasty white faces and spiked hairdo's were wearing thin, and so were the stupid names and safety pins. There were simply too many folks trying to cash in and be the next one hit wonder.

HOWEVER, sitting on the shelf at the local record store (OK, this was in America), was an album. And affixed was a sticker saying, "THE ONLY BAND THAT MATTERS"

Unfortuantely, the phrase that came to be associated with one of the greatest rock and roll bands of all time didn't flow from the pen of Greil Marcus, Lester Bangs, or some other music critic. It was nothing more than record company hype. The funny thing is, it stuck. It fit. At the time, it was true. I strongly feel it remains true to this day.

The album was LONDON CALLING. arguably one of the finest rock albums ever made.

With due respect to Thom Yorke, the rest of the band, and its minions of fans, I think the first Radiohead album came came out years after 1980.
