UFC 119: Mirko 'Cro Cop' vs Frank Mir booked for Sept. 25 with 'Minotauro' Nogueira hurt

Looks like it wasn't meant to be.

The upcoming rematch between Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Frank Mir, originally scheduled for UFC 119 in Indianapolis, Indiana, has reportedly been called off after "Minotauro" was forced to withdraw from the Sept. 25 fight card due to an undisclosed injury.

Fighters Only brought word of the change in plans earlier today, and also reports that famed Croatian striker Mirko Filipovic is being tagged as "Big Nog's" replacement.

damn straight! very exciting Silva fight even if he lost that one

check out what i quoted you on man, you said you find Silva's "fights" boring, so as much as the fights are boring the common denominator in those fights are Anderson Silva being involved, so please don't tell me i'm putting words in your mouth by me saying you don't find Silva an exciting fighter, because that's what comes to mind man.

but, hey, to each his own chief... you don't have to worry about some other dude saying your wrong or your right because everyone is entitled to their own opinion yeah? if you misunderstood what i posted a couple of days back, then what i meant was, the dude's got a lot of exciting fights man.

BTW mr corpsegrinder, yeah you can't use a can opener as a choke because it's not really chocking your opponent but more of "cranking" them and i believe that in no-gi or even in gi submission grappling cranking is a no-no

http://www.ocmma.net/mma-images/mma-mounts/guard-position/submissions-from-guard/can-opener-from-top_lg.jpg

can opener yep a neck crank alright, legal in MMA illegal in submission grappling

i think this is similar to the move that Abbott used on Steve Jennum way back 1995

hey, read my post again. i clearly said i find his fights boring. i never said he's not an exciting fighter. thats two different issues. its totally different.

if youre saying that silva is the common denominator because he is the fighter involved then you got it all wrong. and you dont understand what i posted.

is it just because i never mentioned that hes a great fighter means hes not great fighter?

eto isa pang example. randy couture is a great fighter but his fights are boring. lagi lang siya tumutulak sa cage at dirty boxing at take down. all of his fights ganon lang. nothing new. he even got away with a controversial decision win over brandon vera. na eenjoy mo ba pag lumalaban siya?

si anderson silva lagi lang pasayaw sayaw sisimple ng suntok nakaka excite ba panoorin? hindi ba sumasagi sa isip mo na no match na mga kalaban niya sa division niya kaya boring na siyang panoorin?

and yeah to each his own. you say what you want and put words in my mouth. thats pretty fine. i still find his fights boring.

hey you might wanna read prior to his fight with sonnen, dana white isnt amused with his "exciting fights" especially ufc 112 (silva vs maia)

i'm amazed at someone saying Anderson Silva isn't an exciting fighter... check out his fights before he fought for the UFC, one good example is the Tony Fryklund elbow upercut finish in cagerage man and of course that flying knee VS Carlos Newton in PRIDE

maybe you mean he hasn't been exciting as of late? i'm not Anderson silva's biggest fan bro, but he does have exciting fights man

i'm sorry i just have watched his fights prior to him going UFC and those fukken fights ain't boring

honestly, i'm wayyy fukked in alcohol right now and my pride right now is in it's career high, i didn't watch Silva just fight in the UFC, and his fights prior to that ain't boring, period.

booya kid, id you still find it offensive and if you still think i'm still putting words in your mouth then read what i posted and ponder

This is a forum. Everyone has a right to speak their mind let me just say this though.

What's boring to someone maybe exciting to someone else. In a spectator sport like MMA usually to a 'casual' fan, somebody who is not familiar with the intricacies of the game something such as range fighting (as what anderson silva does) or engaging in the clinch and dirty boxing (as what randy couture does) may seem boring. But to some people who actually practice and actively engage in training and competing in MMA it seems just as exciting.

People who haven't been there don't know just how much of a chess game the clinch is or just how much detail goes into counter striking and all that stuff that a general fan deems to be boring. Guys you have to understand that this is a forum and each of us who are here come from different backgrounds and thus view the sport of MMA in different ways. There are casual fans and then there are those who are really into it. There are those who are fans but have such a deep admiration of the game that they go out of their way to really analyze it and those who actually train in it. And mind you I am not talking about those posers who just drop by the MMA gym every once in a while to claim they're such badasses I mean those who really train in it, explore all the little details of the game and have even gone in the ring or the cage and know what it's like being in there.

So chill out guys. To each his own. and with that let me just say that I do not find Anderson Silva's fights boring... he may have played it safe a couple of times but heck 'flying knees', 'spinning elbows', that switch out he hit on marquardt before he pounded him out (when all the while marquardt was supposed to be the better wrestler), and how he finished Sonnen (though I was rooting for Sonnen) I would not call that stuff boring at all. You can gather a bunch of seasoned muay thai practitioners and ask them if they've ever even landed a flying knee in a fight and some would even say they've been lucky if they've ever landed a single one ever... while Anderson seems to be doing it all the time.

Perhaps people are just so tired of him being this dominant that's why they say he has gotten boring. Tell you what I would love to see Jon Fitch go up to 185 and take a shot at him... After what Sonnen just did to him I think Fitch has a legitimate shot at beating him.

love the mma facts bro CG!

Randy Couture has 19 UFC fights, 15 of them title fights. Since December 1997, only one of his UFC fights has not been for a title.

this really makes me wonder.

15 title fights?

while some fighters need streak of wins before they get 1?

if they were in a class i'd say he's the teacher's pet!

don't get me wrong, i love randy, but Toney's got a point when he said

"Man, what kind of [expletive] sport is this if y’all call a guy barely over .500 a legend?"

Hehe. well there have been instances where Randy had been given a title shot without getting in line or was only required to fight a couple of fights before being given a title shot. But mind you in these fights remember he wasn't expected to win, he was supposed to be the underdog.

Case in point after dropping to the light heavyweight division after losing the heavyweight title to Rico Rodriguez he was asked to fight Chuck Lidell (who was on a tear that time and nobody wanted to fight) and then Tito Ortiz. Nobody expected him to win either one of those fights but he did so and in exceptional fashion.

When he came back to heavyweight on the other hand, he was immediately granted a title shot by Dana against Tim Sylvia and again he wasn't expected to win but he did in a 5 round domination of the former champion. Yeah he might have been given somewhat of a pass at the title a couple of times during his illustrious career but I think it is due to the respect that he has earned over the years for always seeming to come out on top despite all types of adversity.

James Toney the way he keeps running his mouth I hope he gets schooled by the Natural come the next UFC.
