Palakol
pinoy ako pero my money will be on couture. either matakedown sya all 3 rounds ni couture or puro clinch sila. mahina clinch ni vera compared to couture.di mo rin masabi. wrestler din si Vera bago siya nag Muay Thai. nagtraining siya sa wrestling team ng US Air Force. para lang iyang iyong nagsabi na walang ground game si Vitor Belfort (kahit 4-time world champion siya sa brazilian jiu jitsu). Olympus
Very good examples at the top of my head Maia vs Marquardt: everyone predicted na Maia would easily submit Nate.. what happened... Maia got KTFOd in just a few seconds Henderson vs Bisping: Bisping had the better striking skills but he got KOd by Hendo Lindland Vs Lutter: Lindland submitted a BJJ black belt Quote Link to comment

SevenZeroFive
You got me thinking there, Olympus. Some of the fights off the top of my head: Nick Diaz vs. Takanori Gomi, PRIDE.33- Everybody expected Gomi to steamroll Diaz, but Diaz battered Gomi enough to catch him in a rare gogoplata. Blew my mind away when I saw that fight. Randy Couture vs. Tim "TIMMAH!!!" Sylvia, UFC 68- Coming off a year in retirement, most (if not all) were realistically writing Randy off. But, after Randy threw - and connected - with the first punch that removed Tim from his senses the entire fight, we got the upset and the fairytale ending we all wanted. Seth Petruzelli vs. Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson, EliteXC Heat- Everybody wasn't expecting anything at all from Seth, since he was a literal last-minute replacement for Ken Shamrock. But, after the jab that shocked the world, Seth earned the nickname "Kimbo Slayer" - and sent EliteXC to its deathbed after the whole Strikegate fiasco. Roger Huerta vs. Clay Guida, TUF 6 Finale- After Clay rocked Roger with a wicked right hook at the tail end of round 2, everybody thought the SI cover boy is done. But, as Smokin' Joe Rogan said, Roger had that look that says "I'm gonna k*ll you, even if it kills me", and in the end, he caught Clay in a RNC. That was my Fight Of The Year. Anderson Silva vs. Ryo Chonan, PRIDE Shockwave! 2003- Anderson was demolishing Chonan throughout the fight, and Chonan had no answer at all. Then, from out of nowhere, Chonan caught Anderson with a flying leg scissors takedown and shifted right away into a heel hook. Until now, that is the most amazing submission win that I've seen ever (even better than Jason Day's Twister win @ RITC 35). Nino "Elvis" Schembri vs. Kazushi Sakuraba, PRIDE.25- Saku was riding a wave of popularity back then, even after losses to Wanderlei Silva & Mirko Cro Cop prior to the Elvis fight. Everybody was expecting another Brazilian to fall to Saku, but after one knee right to the nose, Elvis shocked Japan and scored the TKO. Shinya Aoki vs. Hayato "MACH" Sakurai, DREAM.8- Everybody was writing off Sakurai, and some even went as far as saying that MACH was washed up and had no place in the Welterweight GP DREAM was holding. But, Aoki's Magic Submission Pants were no effect to MACH's knees. Quote Link to comment

Randy is Randy man, but i'd say he'd get picked apart by a more decent striker than Big Nog but as what coach Olympus said, its MMA, anything can happen Quote Link to comment

SevenZeroFive
Why talk about the couture-vera thing... its too early for it, but of course Vera here!!!!! TUF 10 is jut in the corner... prior to MMA career kimbo (pala) is a pro boxer. correct me if Im wrong but that's what i saw in a youtube video... He was actually a street fighter, as in literal na street fighter. At the same time he was moonlighting as a bodyguard for Reality Kings, the people responsible for porn websites like MILF Hunter, Street B***jobs, Cumfiesta, etc., websites almost all of us are familiar with (be honest, y'all). That's where he made his name, and his fight with police officer Sean Gannon made him more famous. Both of them, actually. Kimbo became the face of EliteXC, and Gannon fought once in the UFC, losing to Branden Lee Hinkle via TKO. Quote Link to comment
