bods1000
The numbers don't shock as much as the frequency. What was that - a race against time? A numbers game? A lottery? What number defines promiscuity? Or does it matter? Maybe even a low number would do, sometimes even one would suffice. What is the exact number that leaves a bad taste in the mouth? What is the number that switches off the part ofthe heart that cares and turns on the part that says the hell with it? Quote Link to comment

bods1000
It is now convenient to divide life into two categories: things you can control, and things you cannot. The key to enjoying life is the ability to distinguish the two. Take traffic. You can control the time you wake up, the time you leave but once you're stuck in traffic, there's nothing you can do. You move when the traffic moves. You stop when the traffic stops. You crawl when the traffic crawls. You can stew, rant, rave all you want; gnash your teeth, implore the gods, swear in all the languages known to man but traffic will not move the way you want it to move. Traffic has its own life and will move of its own volition. Failure to recognize this leads to spikes in blood pressure, chest pains, headaches - all very disagreeable. Same with people. Practically without exception, all people will not change by your say-so, advice, admonishments, sermons, homilies. Lecture them everyday for 24 hours until you're blue in the face but most likely nothing will happen. Recognize that they are beyond your control. You can't control a gambler. You can't control a gossip. You can't control a drinking man. You can't control anyone who screws everyone listed in the telephone directory. You just won't be able to pin down anything loose. To paraphrase S.J. Perelman, appealing to people's morality is like whistling an aria to the deaf. And Nessun Dorma is such a difficult tune..... Quote Link to comment

Queen Darkeinjel
When a door closes, another one opens. You just have to learn how to look at it closely because sometimes doors don't open as wide as you want them to. Quote Link to comment
