2nd Round Summary:

The Predators went on to beat the Blues, the Ducks beat the Oilers (albeit a bit controversially), the Penguins beating the Capitals yet again, and the Senators beating the Rangers!

Conference Finals Summary:

The Predators beat the Ducks down, while the Penguins grinder really hard (all the way to OT in Game 7) to beat the Senators!

Stanley Cup Finals Summary:

The Penguins eliminated the challenger Predators in six games to earn their 2nd consecutive Stanley Cup (and their 5th overall since they were founded in 1967)! Although Game 6 of the Stanley Cup Finals attracted a bit of controversy due to a disallowed goal by the Predators! Had that goal been allowed, the game (and maybe even the series) may have looked very different!

Anyway congrats to the Pittsburgh Penguins on being the top of the NHL again! Can't wait for October to roll around again! Hopefully this time the Minnesota Wild have better luck going the distance this time! :)

vegas golden knights! any opinions? me, i like the idea and i think they're for real.

I think they are pretty good for a starting team - I am not sure when was the last time a first year expansion team made the playoffs (maybe the Blues during the 1967-68 season, perhaps?)! Their scouts during the expansion draft really studied their options! I think they have a very strong chance to make the playoffs in spring! Though I don't think they have enough experience playing together to get a top seeding though. However, I can see them bagging a Wild Card spot.

On the other hand, seems like a lot of teams have backtracked from last year's postseason through some rather slow starts like the Wild (my team), Oilers, Blackhawks, Senators, Capitals, Rangers, and Ducks. And teams that struggled last year are showing some promise this season, like the Jets, Devils, Kings, and Flames... But then again, I find the start of Dec still a bit premature to really guesstimate what the postseason picture will be like. After All-Star Break will be a far better time to gauge!

Now that the 1st Round of the NHL's Stanley Cup Playoffs is done, below are the results in their respective best-of-seven series:

East:

Tampa Bay 4-1 New Jersey

Boston 4-3 Toronto

Washington 4-2 Columbus

Pittsburgh 4-2 Philadelphia

West:

Nashville 4-2 Colorado

Winnipeg 4-1 Minnesota

Vegas 4-0 Los Angeles

Anaheim 0-4 San Jose

[Personal Note: This lackluster result by the Wild against their northern rivals Winnipeg - not helped by injuries to two core members of the team - have cost their GM Chuck Fletcher his job! Just hoping the new GM can upgrade the management of the team to ensure better playoff success in the coming years. I guess the Coach Bruce Boudreau may be next on the chopping block if the result stays the same or worse next season...]

---------------------------------------------------------

Here are the 2nd Round match-ups:

East:

Tampa Bay vs Boston

Washington vs Pittsburgh

West:

Nashville vs Winnipeg

Vegas vs San Jose

Let's see who graduates to the Conference Finals next month! :D

The 2018 Conference Finals:

East:

Tampa Bay vs Washington

West:

Winnipeg vs Vegas

Let's see who moves on to the Stanley Cup Finals! I personally hope it would be a Winnipeg vs Washington series! At least in that case, two-long suffering fanbases will get a chance to see their teams hoist The Stanley Cup for the FIRST TIME EVER! :D

And the Conference Finals is officially over, with the following results:

Tampa 3-4 Washington

Winnipeg 1-4 Vegas

The 2018 Stanley Cup Finals is guaranteed to yield a NEW champion! The question is will it be the upstart Vegas Golden Knights OR the long-suffering Washington Capitals? I personally hope Washington WINS, cuz the Vegas peeps gotta learn to wait in line like everyone else! Plus Alexander Ovechkin will finally get to lift the Stanley Cup for the first time ever, and have his name etched into it in that scenario! :D

Do you also give tips and analysis prior to game event?

I sadly don't have enough time to do so. :( I just watch when I can, and check the scores. Every now and then, I check out HFBoards, and FB/Twitter/IG hockey-related pages to see what the hockey fans online are saying about things. Too bad not enough peeps here to talk about the sport to in Manila Tonight... :(

And the Washington Capitals defeat the Vegas Golden Knights 4-1 to become the 2018 STANLEY CUP CHAMPIONS! It has been a long time coming for Alexander Ovechkin (who is also the Conn Smythe winner this year) and company! This is the FIRST TIME they won the Stanley Cup since the team was started in 1974!
