PITTSBURGH -- Goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy made 25 saves after replacing an injured Ben Bishop to help the Tampa Bay Lightning defeat the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-1 in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final at Consol Energy Center on Friday.

Vasilevskiy, who had not won since Feb. 29 against the Toronto Maple Leafs, entered the game after Bishop sustained an injury with 7:35 remaining in the first period and was removed on a stretcher.

Bishop, who made nine saves, left after his stick became tangled with Penguins forward Patric Hornqvist, who was attempting to drive behind the net. Bishop tried to follow the puck by twisting back to his left and appeared to injure his leg

The Lightning lead the best-of-7 series, 1-0. Game 2 is at Consol Energy Center on Monday (8 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, TVA Sports).

ST. LOUIS -- Jori Lehtera scored the go-ahead goal in the second period, and Brian Elliott made 31 saves to help the St. Louis Blues to a 2-1 win against the San Jose Sharks in Game 1 of the Western Conference Final at Scottrade Center on Sunday.

Game 2 is in St. Louis on Tuesday (8 p.m. ET; NBCSN, CBC, TVA Sports).

David Backes scored a power-play goal for St. Louis, which is 4-4 at home in the 2016 Stanley Cup Playoffs.

"We haven't played a team like this," Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said. "The other two series [against the Chicago Blackhawks and Dallas Stars] were similar. This series, and this team that we're playing against, is completely different. This is no different than playing Los Angeles. They're a heavy, hard team, strong on the puck, a lot of wall battles. We haven't had a series like this.

"It took us two periods just to get close to the emotional level on the compete side to get going. We'll be a lot better in Game 2."

PITTSBURGH -- Sidney Crosby picked a really good time to end his eight-game goal drought.

The Pittsburgh Penguins captain scored 40 seconds into overtime for a 3-2 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 2 of the Eastern Conference Final at Consol Energy Center on Monday, tying the best-of-7 series 1-1.

Bryan Rust carried the puck into the Tampa Bay zone before dropping a pass to Crosby. While going down on one knee, Crosby shot by goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy's blocker for the first Stanley Cup Playoff goal of his career.

" was just happy," said Crosby, who has played 113 postseason games since the Penguins selected him with the No. 1 pick in the 2005 NHL Draft. "Whether I've scored in the last seven games or haven't scored in the last whatever, it feels good to get rewarded. I think we deserved that one tonight."

Crosby said he shouted at Rust to draw his attention because he didn't think Rust saw him.

"I just tried to let him know I was there," Crosby said. "I didn't know exactly what he was going to do. … He made a perfect pass and put in an area where I could get a good shot away."
