Ang natatandaan kong hologarm comic na binili ko eh yung Amazing Spider-Man #365 na recently mo lang nabili, pinareserve ko pa yun bago lumabas at hindi ko na nga alam kung san napunta. Sayang nga lang at hindi ko inabot ang Ultimate Spider-Man for collectability pero ok lang.

 

Naglalaro ako ng Magic, yun nga lang thru internet na lang. Hindi kko na maisingit yung pagbili ng cards eh saka hindi ako makapagdecide ng gusto kong gamiting deck pero pinipilit ko pa ding mabuo ang deck ko. Yun bang Total REC eh sa UP or UST? Kasi base sa mga ninuno ng Magic dito sa Pinas eh sa UP/UST ata nagsimula ito.

 

I actually have that hologram cover of ASM #365 since it came out.. I recently bought several copies of it kasi mura lang binigay sa akin.. Maganda kasing tingnan yun dahil yung hologram yung cover ng Amazing Fantasy #15.. When Ultimate Spiderman came out, hindi na overprinted yung mga comics dahil nga umunti ang nag-co-collect.. Whoever thought that a Bagley art would be a hit.. haha.. Kidding aside, si Bendis talaga ang nagdala ng title na ito..

 

If ever I was still collecting when USM came out, I would have not gotten the title because its another re-telling of Spiderman's origin.. Nangyari na ito nung mid-90's (Spiderman: Chapter One by John Byrne to be exact) and I was really disappointed with what had happened in the "Clone" storyline.. Ayaw ko na nga yung balak nina Bendis, ayaw ko pa kay Bagley.. Kaya hindi ko din ito kukunin.. And because a lot of Spidey collectors/readers had the same sentiments, USM was (most probably) overlooked.. Kaya siguro ganyan ang presyo ng early issues nito ngayon..

 

Magic originated from UP/UST? Not sure, bro.. But Total REC had their humble beginnings sa isang maliit na lugar sa may Sta. Mesa.. Then they opened a shop near La Salle Taft (University Mall).. After that hindi ko na alam.. Baka naman nagkaroon sila ng shops sa Katipunan kaya siguro nasabi na nag-originate ito sa UP..

 

collector ako sa mga early 80's kaso kulang funds ko ( still studying elementary) ...ang lakas ko nga kay Phil ( boss ng Filbars ) nirereserved pa nya talaga sakin mga magaganda like CRISIS on INFINITE EARTHS, SECRET WARS :thumbsupsmiley: kaso nag burn out din ako sa comics at when inanay( di pa uso mga carton at plastic pero linalagyan ko sa sarili kong plastic ) mga comics ko one time i gave up totally..... during the 90's inactive na ako sa comics almost mag 20 yrs ako nag stop ( 1989 to 2007 ) mag collect ng comics but i collect SOUL OF CHOGOKIN toys ( mga japanese robot like mazinger z, voltesv , etc ) .....bumalik lang ako when i was in sydney vacationing and lagi tumatambay lang sa mga bookstore...basa basa lang mga tpb....dyan bumalik interest ko....kaso i'm so out of date na ...buti nalang i have a friend na so addict sa comics at mga action figures ...pinahiram nya ang mga collection nya sakin kaya humabol pa...napakarami nyang comics dc and marvel pati na rin mga ibang company....hiram ko lang DC. then one day sa FULLYBOOKED i saw a complete set of JUSTICE and INFINITE CRISIS....so binili ko..............that 2 set of comics brought back the fire in me to a big comeback.......after that mga tpb ang mga tinira ko like mga HUSH, JUSTICE LEAGUE of AMERICA, GL:rebirth, Superman: doomsday, etc..........then one day i said to myslef i need a hobby again since people are reading FHM, MAXIM, etc...why not comics ..so dyan na umpisa .....kaya tama nga sabi nila " 1st love ( comics ) never dies " ...hahahahaha :upside:

 

We must have the same age, bro.. Wala din akong funds noong dekada '80 at bumibili ako ng comics noon sa National Bookstore sa Cubao.. Then nagkaroon ng flyers na ang distributor ay ang Filbar's that is based sa New York St., Cubao.. My parents and I went there but because we had only few pesos to spare wala din akong masyadong nabili.. But Fil Barbaza was very nice towards me and my parents.. Kaya nga hindi ako magtataka sa staying power ng Filbar's..

 

During that time, ang gaganda ng mga lumalabas na stories sa Marvel.. Secret Wars, Captain America #300 - Death of Red Skull, the Hobgoblin saga in Spiderman, and several storylines of the Avengers.. DC without Crisis was kinda lame, IMO.. Books like the Watchmen were overlooked by collectors and focused mainly on one-shots delivered in Action, or World's Finest.. Buti na lang lumabas ang Crisis at biglang nabuhayan ang storylines ng DC..

 

Comics are better than FHM. Those are just like giving some erections. that's all. pweh! I can see beautiful girls everywhere. I dont need to read or look at in that magazine. But even though, I like Francine P. and Diiana Z.. hehehehe

 

Hahaha!! True but hindi naman lahat ng readers ng FHM ay bumibili for "erection" purposes.. :thumbsupsmiley: I, for one, also collect and read FHM's.. I am not really interested in the sexy pictorials but I am more into the articles.. Kasi when FHM came out, I was looking for the magazine called eleMents (a men's magazine that my batchmates in DLSU concocted), kaso wala na yata kaya binili ko yung Alicia Silverstone issue ng FHM (its actually FHM #1) and I got hooked..

 

Honestly, FHM is beginning to bore me nowadays.. Noon talaga mas may dating mga articles nila.. But, still I have all the issues from #s 1 to the latest..

 

But we share the same sentiments, coz I would gladly give up my FHM fix for good storylines in comicbooks.. Its like comparing bananas to pajamas, IMO.. hahaha... But one thing is for sure, FHM is now a Pinoy Contemporary phenomenon (as it was the first of its kind - Maxim, Uno just followed what it started) that is why early issues are selling more than the cover price in the secondary market.. So, its also nice to have the first issues of this controversial magazie whether its for collection or sentimental purposes..

Ah, extra copies pala. PM kita tungkol diyan kase interesado ako dun sa poster na kasama ng issue na yan eh. At least hindi na masyadong masama yung Clone Saga kasi nagkaroon ng One More Day. Hehehe. Kung sabagay, kung nangonglekta ako ng comics nung lumabas ang USM eh hindi ko din bibilhin dahil re-telling lang ng origin ang concept kamo. napansin ko lang na madalas ang re-telling ng origins sa Marvel nowadays. May mga one-shot para sa X-Men characters at meron din kay Spider-Man recently. Yung kay Venom eh susunod na.

 

Naalala ko nung naglalaro ako ng Magic at napunta ako dun sa Lopez Canteen sa tabi ng UST. Isa ito sa pinakaunang laruan ng Magic kaya nabanggit ko ang UST, yung sa UP eh hindi ko maalala kung pano nadamay pero baka nga nagkaroon ng branch sa Katipunan yung Total REC kaya na-associate sa UP.

So halos magkabatch pala kayo ni revi? I had plans of collecting Playboy Philippines pero nakalimutan kong makabili nung 2nd issue at back-up issue ng #1 kaya parang hindi ko na itutuloy. 90's ako naging interested pero hindi ganun ka-active kasi nga wala pa akong pera nun. I was following Infinity Gauntlet pero hindi ko rin nakumpleto kasi nga kulang ang allowance tas nung college eh mangilan ngilang Spider-Man pero katulad mo eh hindi ko din naalagaan masyado ang mga comics ko kasi wala pa akong idea nun. Nung nagbalik-comics ako dun pa lang ako bumili ng boxes at mylar. Nga pala, since sa DK ka kumukuha eh nagbebenta nga pala dyan ng mylar sleeve (Yung pinakamakapal na version).

Btw, just watched THE DARK KNIGHT with the kids and all i can say is Heath Ledge was the JOKER . :thumbsupsmiley: 2 hrs ang movie. most of the scene is at night. magaling din ang pagkagawa nila sa mukha ni TWO-FACE ( parang sa comics )........movie was great. vigilante style ang movie. " WHY SO SERIOUS " HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA :upside:

I haven't been watching movies in a while. Tsamba na nga lang yung Iron Man dahil isinama ako ng kakilala ko na lumabas at naisipan lang panoorin. Yung Hulk nga di ko pa napapanood. Hopefully mapanood ko this weekend yang Hulk at Dark Knight. I'm looking forward to Ledger's Joker depiction kasi ang laki ng expectation sa kanya at hindi maiiwasang ikumpara kay Jack Nicholson.

just bought CONAN the Cimmerian #1 today at CO.

 

The art looks weak. its not what expected. The story is okay. Really different from the cover.

I dunno how much is the mylar sleeve and board, I buy ine online and I get the "2" version instead of the "4" (sold at DK) version. The case is PHP 150/piece but I think you can get a discount at CO if you buy a pack (5 pieces).

 

That's ususally the trend nowadays. You have a stunning cover and a different and most of the time a subpar interior art. I had to pass on that series coz I know I'll get hooked.

I'm getting the Thor SI tie-in too. Good find w/Young Avengers # 1!

 

I'm currently getting posters (comc book genre). I buy 2 pieces and give the other copy as agift to my friends during their birthday or anniversary. Dunno what to do w/the remaining copies but they're still unopened. Some will get framed of course but I'm still thiniking if I'm getting a mylar sleeve for some of them.

 

Btw, I got my reservations earlier and I asked you from Nelida and she said you were there twice. Di tayo nag-abot kasi usually 7PM - 8PM ako dumadating.
