Bro, hindi ako nagfocus sa Hack/Slash pero update kita next week pag dumaan ako sa DK. Kukunin ko kasi yung Power Girl poster ni Adam Hughes (variant to JSA Classified #1) na nakalimutan ko na. Nabasa ko nga na magkakamovie ito at ewan ko kung into cartoons ka din eh recommend ko yung Igor from IDW at yung prequel ata nung Transformers 2 na Reign Of Starscream both from IDW. Hindi lang ako sigurado kung lumabas na yung Igor pero yung ROS eh lumabas na.

 

Nag CCG ka din ba bro? Gusto kong mangolekta ng ganyan pero hanggang dun lang ako sa regular version. Masyadong mahal yung Signature Series eh pero wala pa akong balak bilhin sa ngayon kse balak kong ipa-CGC yung mga key issues ko.

 

On a side note, parang may similarities nga ang approach ni Silvestri at Turner but I prefer Silvestri's art. Btw, during the 90s ako naging active sa comics, dito naglabasan yung andaming variants at dito nga din lumabasa yung trend na art ang susubaybayan pero hindi ang istorya. I was young and didn't know what's going on w/the comic industry at paminsan minsan lang ang bili ko ng comics, di ko alam na turning point pala ito ng hobby natin at may mga nagsasabi na ito ang simula ng Modern Age.

 

I'm getting FC: Rogue's Revenge pero ign ka na magrely bro kasi di ko pa makukuha agad sa CO.

I only got MICE TEMPLAR #1, yun lang. di na ko makahabol. kasi marami nasa list ko; tsaka may upcoming pa na dadating titles. What's in Action Comics #866? Because I was thinking that I'll start it like what I did in the Batman title. What do you guys think?

 

Just got the SECRET INVASION #4 yesterday. Astig ng bata. I'm gonna get siguro yung planung series ng NICK FURY, SPIDER-WOMAN, DEADPOOL, DARK TOWER: TREACHERY, tsaka may isa pa eh. i forgot. (kaya di ko kaya ang MICE TEMPLAR eh).

 

Dun nagsimula yung current arc kaya pde ka pang humabol. I'm getting Deadpool kasi tie-in siya ng SI tas yung Dark Tower: Treachery eh nagdadalawang isip ako.

( spoilers : tawag ni rip kay boost " dad " sa huli at nabuhay uli yun kapatid nyan babae ) and mukhang very promising pa mga upcoming arc may preview na dyan si batgirl, elongated man, legion of superheroes, etc. kaya di ko muna drop to.....hehehehe :upside:

 

alam nyo ang daming kong character na di kilala sa Marvel........kc yun SI#4 di ko kilala mga kasama ni nick furry........san ba nanggaling mga yun? pero ok yun story. collect ko lang sa MARVEL yun HULK , INVICIBLE IRON MAN , THOR and Captain America # 25 onwards......so halos new ako rito ....ang mga kilala ko lang yung mga before CIVIL WAR . Kasi sabi nga ni revi eh baka masira yung character dahil comic after comic ang lumalabas pagkatapos ng unang series ng Dark Tower. Ok pa naman siya base sa mga review pero baka kasi magasgas na pagdating sa DT: Treachery pero at least panalo ka pa din sa art.

Talaga? Kasi alam ko nung nirenovate yung Greenhills eh lumipat sila ng pwesto sa 2nd flr ata pero sabi mo nga eh nagsara na din. I'm glad natapos na yung arc sa last issue pero kahit hindi ko pa nababasa eh mukhang hindi pa din tapos kasi nga dahil sa "dad" issue and I'm still contemplating.

 

Hindi ko pa din nababasa yung SI#4 pero ang kung ang tinutukoy mo eh yung grupo ni Nick Fury sa last page ng SI#3 eh mga bagong characters pa lang sila. Hindi ko alam kung bago nga lahat pero sigurado ako na halos lahat sila eh bago at yung unang appearance nila eh majority sa Mighty Avengers #13.

 

I'm more a Marvel person at 2005 lang ako nagsimula sa DC and I'm following Justice League Of America, Justice Society Of America, Green Lantern & Green Lantern Corps sa regular series para sa DC.

Hay naku! Para ngang mapapabili ako ng Rogue's Revenge eh.. Still having 2nd thoughts because of its price and the notion that it might not really something that is necessary to have.. Balak ko kasi kunin yung mga Morrison tie-ins ng FC but they are also kinda expensive.. Well, ign will be the one to convince me.. haha..

 

BTW, I did not get Detective Comics last week.. The Hush storyline was kinda "pilit.." I browsed the comic and I hated the art.. Might get the Robin-RIP-tie-in though, kasi Chuck Dixon ito at two part storyline lang..

 

Not really a fan of cartoon-based books bro.. Di ako interesado dun sa mga Transformers na lumalabas ngayon.. Gusto ko yung mga luma na comics ng Transformers from Marvel.. Tingnan ko yung Igor.. Thanks, bro..

 

The 1990's had its good run of indie comics, bro.. But it fizzled out because of marketing ploys.. Masyadong nagasgas ang mga characters and to make matters worse, overprinted ang karamihan ng comics noon.. Look at Spiderman #1 at XMen #1.. Pati na din Spawn #1.. Although, they are all nice to have but they are definitely not rare.. Pati tuloy Valiant naapektuhan.. Magaganda pa naman ang storylines nung umpisa nito (yun ang sabi nila)..

 

RE: CGCs..

 

As I have said before, I am not too keen on putting my issues in hard plastic kasi from time to time, gusto ko pa din tingnan sila eh.. Maganda if you would collect CGC signed books, coz hindi mo nman talaga babasahin ang mga ito eh, kundi for display purposes.. I don't have any CGC signed books but I have two signed stuff - authenticated - already.. Start pa lang ako sa ganito - naimplwensyahan ako nung mga barkada ko sa NBA Cards, coz one of them collects signed comicbooks.. Kaso di naman binabasa mga comics, hahaha..

Now with Dark Tower: Treachery.. I've decided na kukunin ko ito dahil ayaw kong mabungi yung collection ko.. I really just hope that Marvel won't overexpose Robert Deschain and won't compromise a good storyline over dollars (bilis kasi nila nilabas ang 3rd part eh!).. I will get both the Stand and this series.. Might even get the variant of the Stand.. Gamble pareho ang mga series na ito dahil nga sobrang bilis nilabas ang Treachery at hindi pa ganun ka-proven si Sacasa (who will write the Stand)..

Yun nga nag mga nabasa ko, overprinted yung mga comics nung 90s pero sayang at wala pa akong trabaho nun. Hehehe. Naalala ko tuloy yung Black Lotus na revised sa Greenhills nung college ako. PHP 3500 lang eh ngayon eh sobrang mahal na, nga pala I play Magic CCG once in a while kahit thru online gaming lang.

 

Pilit ba yung appearance ni Hush? Tingnan ko na lang pag nakuha ko yung mga backlog ko this Friday, bukod sa Igor eh may nabasa pa ako eh. Update kita next Sunday or Monday.

 

Magandang magkaroon nung Signature Series ng CCG kaso ang mahal lang talaga, siguro pag asa conevntion ako dun lang ako magpapagawa ng ganun pero malabong bumili ako ng ganun.

 

Pareho tayo ng feeling sa 3rd isntallment ng Dark Tower at sobrang bilis lumabas.

Isipin mo naman na during the 90's, ang daming nagsulputan na comicbook companies dito sa atin.. CATS, Comic Quest, Comic Express, and Total REC to name a few.. Meron pang mga ilang maliliit na shops that eventually closed down after a few months/years, dahil hindi nila kayang isustain.. Grabe ang demand sa mga comics noon at dun din nauso ang mga hologram, foil, chromium, embossed covers.. At tama ka, art was given too much emphasis rather than the story.. And that is the reason why the comicsboom at that time was not able to sustain its "boom.." As I have said, the stupidity of the stories just made everybody bored and eventually, a lot of collectors/readers just stopped buying comics..

 

Hanggang sa lumabas ang Ultimate Spiderman.. At ayun! Boom ulit.. But at the very least, comics now rely more on superb storylines rather than just art.. Stories that mean something hindi yung dadaan lang at walang mangyayaring repurcussions sa mga universe kung saan sila gumagalaw..

 

Naglalaro ka pala ng Magic, bro.. haha.. Black Lotus? I've heard of that card.. At nakahawak na ako nun nung mahal na siya.. Well, talagang ganyan, tsambahan ang pag-invest sa mga ganyan na collectibles.. We, as collectors, take gambles on what to buy and what to sell.. Mas madalas, malaki ang lugi.. Mapa-NBA cards, Magic, toys or comics, all of these things are gambles.. Its for us to enjoy our respective hobbies and to make investing in them, secondary..

 

BTW, if my memory serves me right, Magic the Gathering was introduced here in the PI by Total REC.. A group of young entrepreneurs, and one of their members was Des (wife of the owner of Neutral Grounds today).. They sold comics then, but on the side may mga comic based cards at ito ngang Magic.. Eventually, the rights to the sole distribution of Magic was taken over by Neutral when Total REC closed shop.. Nakausap ko pa si Des nung nasa Total REC siya, kaso sa tingin ko hindi na ako maalala nito dahil sobrang tagal na nun.. College days ko pa.. Kaya matagal na yun.. nyahahaha..

Dami palang nagsulputan na comic shop nun. Yung Comic Express at Total REC eh hindi ko alam at tama ka nga na may mangilan ngilang Magic shop na may comics. Dun sa Recto sa Mr. Quickie eh exclusive yun for Magic pero may mga 10-20 comics na nakadisplay at take note na naa-update iyun kahit papaano. Ang natatandaan kong hologarm comic na binili ko eh yung Amazing Spider-Man #365 na recently mo lang nabili, pinareserve ko pa yun bago lumabas at hindi ko na nga alam kung san napunta. Sayang nga lang at hindi ko inabot ang Ultimate Spider-Man for collectability pero ok lang.

 

Naglalaro ako ng Magic, yun nga lang thru internet na lang. Hindi kko na maisingit yung pagbili ng cards eh saka hindi ako makapagdecide ng gusto kong gamiting deck pero pinipilit ko pa ding mabuo ang deck ko. Yun bang Total REC eh sa UP or UST? Kasi base sa mga ninuno ng Magic dito sa Pinas eh sa UP/UST ata nagsimula ito. Langya, bigatin na yung nahawakan mong Black Lotus kasi kahit yung pinakamahal na version nung college eh alam ko na hindi siya lalagapas ng 10k at ngayon eh malamang x10-20 na yung price kung ngayon lang nangyari yun eh kukuha talaga ako kahit dalawa.

collector ako sa mga early 80's kaso kulang funds ko ( still studying elementary) ...ang lakas ko nga kay Phil ( boss ng Filbars ) nirereserved pa nya talaga sakin mga magaganda like CRISIS on INFINITE EARTHS, SECRET WARS :thumbsupsmiley: kaso nag burn out din ako sa comics at when inanay( di pa uso mga carton at plastic pero linalagyan ko sa sarili kong plastic ) mga comics ko one time i gave up totally..... during the 90's inactive na ako sa comics almost mag 20 yrs ako nag stop ( 1989 to 2007 ) mag collect ng comics but i collect SOUL OF CHOGOKIN toys ( mga japanese robot like mazinger z, voltesv , etc ) .....bumalik lang ako when i was in sydney vacationing and lagi tumatambay lang sa mga bookstore...basa basa lang mga tpb....dyan bumalik interest ko....kaso i'm so out of date na ...buti nalang i have a friend na so addict sa comics at mga action figures ...pinahiram nya ang mga collection nya sakin kaya humabol pa...napakarami nyang comics dc and marvel pati na rin mga ibang company....hiram ko lang DC. then one day sa FULLYBOOKED i saw a complete set of JUSTICE and INFINITE CRISIS....so binili ko..............that 2 set of comics brought back the fire in me to a big comeback.......after that mga tpb ang mga tinira ko like mga HUSH, JUSTICE LEAGUE of AMERICA, GL:rebirth, Superman: doomsday, etc..........then one day i said to myslef i need a hobby again since people are reading FHM, MAXIM, etc...why not comics ..so dyan na umpisa .....kaya tama nga sabi nila " 1st love ( comics ) never dies " ...hahahahaha :upside:
