hotcoldman
Today's mainstream music scene is garbage, to me at least. The pop stuff just got too "poppy" Quote Link to comment
smart-ass
the music of yesteryears were memorable... today's music are forgettable.. or disposable.. too many lyrics in such a short melody/music.. the whites sing with a monotone drawl.. the blacks.. well.. they sing just to impress other of how good they are.. they don't sing for the love of it.. plain arrogance.. Gone are the likes of big arena rock bands.. the last of which is GREEN DAY.. of Marvin Gaye.. Michael jackson.. etc.. Even the soundtracks of today's movies are dismally unmemorable.. LET IT GO??? the Frozen theme.. ??? seriously.. compare that to previous Disney themes.. or better compare than to last year Oscar winner... SKYFALL by Adele.. a Bond classic.. hopefully the downward spiral trend in music will change.. Quote Link to comment
damian50
Kung buhay pa ang barkada kong ma-opinyon, gaito sasabihn nya: "Wala yang 80s at 90s sa 60s at 70s!" So mahaba-habang debate...dapat to pag-usapan sa kanto at may toma ;-) Quote Link to comment
emery
Music is subjective. You just have to widen your music selection to discover some real good stuff when it comes to music. Also, must be willing to listen to genres outside your chosen ones. 1 Quote Link to comment
Kikko23
Well, the music that we listened to growing up was actually considered garbage by adults as well. In fact, a lot of that music hasn't aged gracefully. I cringe at a lot of the stuff I used to listen to. 1 Quote Link to comment

jasperchua
Today's music is made (or should I say, marketed?) for today's generation - as is the case for every generation. There's music that is universally relatable and there's music that is marketed for a specific audience.Fact is, most of the music aired on the radio are marketed for the young generation because the youth are the largest demographic (at least in most socieities). My two centavos. Quote Link to comment

spick
I believe in the saying that beauty is in the eye of the beholder. In the case of music, it's in the ear of the listener. What is garbage for you may be music to someone else's ears. What makes one appreciate one kind of music and detest another is based on our upbringing and by the society we live in. There are many possible combinations of this. That is why we have many different kinds/genre of music. And for each genre of music, there is a group of people who appreciate and listen to it. Otherwise it will not flourish and cease to exist. Edited July 29, 2014 by spick Quote Link to comment
POKEMON_PEEKATYOU
Today's music is great but has no appeal to me at least its good for the moment but at least in my view will never make as big an impact as the music of the 90's maybe it's just that I'm in a different part of my life where music plays a very different role. In any case It's not garbage its just not that special, It doesn't stop me from enjoying it, and yes even JB tunes can be enjoyable. Quote Link to comment
ADAM
Non garbage lyrics is lyrics that have deeper impact on the listener, i know there are some good music ,but compared to 80's or 90's it has no match, but its just my opinion and each has their own taste And in todays music is like a fad, uso lang ngayun, pero wla n nakininig pag di na uso You just need to look harder, as another poster said. You'll be surprised. Take the first step by quitting on mainstream music. There are many unheralded musicians, bands, out there who are there for nothing more than making awesome music founded on deep lyrics. 2nd step: widen your horizon by not confining your listening to a specific genre.music can be fast, slow, loud, soft, and easy. chill. Enjoy. Quote Link to comment
