Clock Tower:

Senator Entertainment is set to produce “Clock Tower,” based on Capcom’s bestselling survival horror video game series, for the Weinstein Co. Senator’s Marco Weber will produce with Martin Weisz (“The Hills Have Eyes 2”) directing from a script by Eric Poppen (“Borderland”). The pic will employ elements of all of the “Clock Tower” games, although the story will be based mainly on “Clock Tower 2: The Struggle Within,” in which the heroine finds herself locked up in a psychiatric hospital as she tries to escape the curse that has haunted her family for generations.

The Pet:

David Silverman, who most recently helmed "The Simpsons Movie," has signed on to develop and direct "The Pet," a live-action sci-fi family comedy for Disney. Scott Rudin and Craig Perry are producing. The project, written by Matt Lieberman, centers on an everyday guy who becomes the pet of a group of aliens. Silverman, a longtime director-producer of Fox's "The Simpsons," directed DreamWorks' "El Dorado" in 2000 and co-directed Pixar's "Monsters, Inc." in 2001.

Descent 2:

U.K. indie shingle Celador Films is reuniting with French-owned and U.K.-based Pathe on a sequel to low-budget boxoffice hit "The Descent." The Neil Marshall horror flick claimed $57 million at the boxoffice, a sizable return on the original investment on a movie budgeted at less than $10 million. Produced by Marshall and Christian Colson, "Descent 2" marks the directorial debut for its predecessor's editor, Jon Harris. Based on a script by James Watkins ("My Little Eye"), the $10 million sequel will shoot more than eight weeks on location in Scotland and at London's Ealing Studios. The stars of the original film, Shauna MacDonald and Natalie Mendoza, will reprise their roles, alongside Gavan O'Herlihy, Joshua Dallas, Anna Skellern, Douglas Hodge and Krysten Cummings. The script sees the survivor forced back into the system of caves she battled her way out of in the first film, in a bid to locate the rest of her group.

Indiana Jones & The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull:

The studio has sent over a new and revised synopsis for the upcoming Indiana Jones & The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. The newest Indiana Jones adventure begins in the desert Southwest in 1957 – the height of the Cold War. Indy and his sidekick Mac (Ray Winstone) have barely escaped a close scrape with nefarious Soviet agents on a remote airfield.

Now, Professor Jones has returned home to Marshall College – only to find things have gone from bad to worse. His close friend and dean of the college (Jim Broadbent) explains that Indy’s recent activities have made him the object of suspicion, and that the government has put pressure on the university to fire him. On his way out of town, Indiana meets rebellious young Mutt (Shia LaBeouf), who carries both a grudge and a proposition for the adventurous archaeologist: If he’ll help Mutt on a mission with deeply personal stakes, Indy could very well make one of the most spectacular archaeological finds in history – the Crystal Skull of Akator, a legendary object of fascination, superstition and fear.

Ninja Assassin:

Rick Yune (FAST AND THE FURIOUS) has been cast as the antagonist in NINJA ASSASSIN, which is shaping up to be one of next year's cooler films. Naomi Harris (MIAMI VICE) is also onboard the film, which is produced by the Wachowskis. The martial arts extravaganza stars Korean actor-singer Rain (SPEED RACER) as a man brought up in an orphanage functioning as a ninja farm. The man turns his back on his tradition to make his way in the modern world, which brings him into conflict with a ninja (Yune) from the clan.

Obsessed:

Christine Lahti, Bruce McGill (Vantage Point) and Scout Taylor-Compton (Halloween, April Fool's Day) will join the previously announced Beyonce Knowles, Ali Larter and Idris Elba in Sony Screen Gems' Obsessed, which begins lensing May 5 in Los Angeles, CA. In the film directed by Steven Shill, Elba will play an asset manager who has a knockout wife (Knowles) and thriving career until a temp office worker (Larter) begins stalking him. The screenplay was written by David Loughery.

Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li

Moon Bloodgood, who recently snagged the lead role in TERMINATOR SALVATION is currently out in Bangkok shooting STREET FIGHTER: THE LEGEND OF CHUN LI. Bloodgood plays Detective Maya Sunee, a Thai cop. The character probably won’t sound familiar to you die-hard SF fans out there. And it shouldn’t. Maya’s new to the Street Fighter universe. She’s Bangkok Gangland Homicide. A no-nonsense, fast-talking, half-Thai cop who rocks a Ducati and a set of gold cuffs.

Hellraiser (remake):

Director Darren Lynn Bousman has officially been asked to direct the remake to Hellraiser, filling the shoes of the French filmmakers Alexandre Bustillo and Julien Maury (who left the project a few weeks ago). When we were initially told the news (probably the same night as other websites reporting this), we checked in with Bousman who still denies that he will have anything to do with the return of Pinhead.

Antibodies (remake):

Based on the original script by Kevin Waehner, ANTIBODIES is about a serial killing pederast who is caught after a violent shoot out with police. The First Avenger: Captain America

Matthew McConaughey is rumored to be the front runner for Marvel's early 2011 superhero project "The First Avenger: Captain America". The character's real name is Steve Rogers, a sickly young man who was enhanced to the peak of human perfection by an experimental serum in order to aid the United States war effort during the Second World War. The solution seems to be repositioning the character and placing the emphasis on his role as the leader of 'The Avengers'. The character will team up with Iron Man, Hulk and Thor in that film opening a few weeks later in July 2011.

Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins

Common has signed on to co-star in Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins. The movie stars Christian Bale as John Connor, now in his 30s, who leads what is left of the human race in a battle against the machines. Common will play a freedom fighter and member of Connor's inner circle. Sam Worthington, Anton Yelchin and Moon Bloodgood also star. McG will direct from a script by John D. Brancato & Michael Ferris and Paul Haggis. The movie is scheduled for a May 2009 release.

The Knights Templar:

Universal Pictures has picked up Adam Torchia and Justin Stanley's spec script "The Knights Templar". The Middle Ages-set horror film follows the famed Knightly order who, returning from the Crusades, are forced to fend off an invading vampire army set on destroying the Holy Grail. "Wanted" and "Night Watch" director Timur Bekmambetov will produce along with Marc Platt.

Iron Sky:

Towards the end of World War II the staff of SS officer Hans Kammler made a significant breakthrough in anti-gravity. From a secret base built in the Antarctic, the first Nazi spaceships were launched in late ‘45 to found the military base Schwarze Sonne (Black Sun) on the dark side of the Moon. This base was to build a powerful invasion fleet and return to take over the Earth once the time was right.

The year is 2018. Things are looking good for Renate on the Nazi moon base. For all her life, she has worked hard to be a productive member of the Fourth Reich, and now, her dreams are coming true. Renate is to travel to Earth on a secret mission with her fiancé, the handsome and high-ranking Klaus, a true Nazi down to his jackboots.

Their mission: to assassinate the president of the United States, Jenna Bush. Renate finds Earth not to be the pit of depravity Klaus had described. Suddenly, bombing this world back to the stone age doesn’t seem like a good idea at all. But the Nazi invasion is on its way, and the world is goose-stepping towards its doom.

rumors....

First up, apparently, in Gotham, for the third BATMAN film, The Joker is out. Like completely out. No re-casting. Instead we'll get a film that continues with Two Face, and possibly... sees the introduction of Robin? Also: Nolan is doing a Guillermo del Toro, and getting out after 3.

Second, apparently one of the plot lines being pushed for the IRON MAN sequel has Jackson’s Nick Fury enlisting the help of Tony Stark in going after a terrorist called The Mandarin. And the best bit is that The Mandarin will have at his disposal, an inter-galactic dragon called Fing Fang Foom.

First came news reports that Aussie actress Teresa Palmer had been cast in the upcoming "Transformers" sequel - talk that director Michael Bay summarily squashed in his blog.

Another casting rumor involving "Superbad" star Jonah Hill cropped up last week, and again was dismissed by Bay. One has to give kudos to Bay for not only keeping abreast of these rumors but shooting them down quickly.

Now, reports says that another Aussie actress - 23-year-old "Home and Away" star Isabel Lucas - has been cast in the role of Alice in the sequel.

Full casting announcements are expected in the next few weeks. Filming remains scheduled to begin shooting in early June, depending upon the pending actors strike.

Into the Blue 2

Audrina Patridge ("The Hills") has joined the cast of MGM's "Into the Blue 2". The film revolves around Sebastion (Chris Carmack, "The O.C.") and Dani (Laura Vandervoort, "Smallville"), a married couple hired as professional divers to search for Columbus' hidden treasure. To their horror, they learn that their wealthy employers have a much more terrifying agenda. Patridge will play a no-nonsense, beautiful beach babe whose boyfriend caters to her every command.

Wolfman (remake):

Inspired by the classic Universal film that launched a legacy of horror, The Wolfman brings the myth of a cursed man back to its iconic origins. Oscar® winner Benicio Del Toro stars as Lawrence Talbot, a haunted nobleman lured back to his family estate after his brother vanishes. Reunited with his estranged father (Oscar® winner Anthony Hopkins), Talbot sets out to find his brother...and discovers a horrifying destiny for himself.

Lawrence Talbot’s childhood ended the night his mother died. After he left the sleepy Victorian hamlet of Blackmoor, he spent decades recovering and trying to forget. But when his brother’s fiancée, Gwen Conliffe (Emily Blunt), tracks him down to help find her missing love, Talbot returns home to join the search. He learns that something with brute strength and insatiable bloodlust has been killing the villagers, and that a suspicious Scotland Yard inspector named Aberline (Hugo Weaving) has come to investigate.

As he pieces together the gory puzzle, he hears of an ancient curse that turns the afflicted into werewolves when the moon is full. Now, if he has any chance at ending the slaughter and protecting the woman he has grown to love, Talbot must destroy the vicious creature in the woods surrounding Blackmoor. But as he hunts for the nightmarish beast, a simple man with a tortured past will uncover a primal side to himself…one he never imagined existed.

Although Ice Cube had once been mentioned for the role, rumors began to spread online a few months ago that Transformers co-star Tyrese Gibson might play B.A. Baracus in the feature film version of The A-Team. Now it sounds like those rumors may soon become fact.

Stine's "Goosebumps HorrorLand" books -- a new 12-book series that feature characters from the original series such as Slappy the Dummy, the Haunted Mask and the Mummy -- hit shelves last month. In the fall, Scholastic Interactive will launch a "Goosebumps" videogame. The series also spawned a live-action TV show that aired on the Fox Kids Network in the 1990s. Episodes of that series returned to the small screen last year on Cartoon Network.
