Hitman: The Movie

The first look at Timothy Olyphant as Agent 47. The hunter becomes the hunted when 47 gets caught up in a political takeover. Both Interpol and the Russian military chase the Hitman across Eastern Europe as he tries to find out who set him up and why they're trying to take him out of the game. But the greatest threat to 47's survival may be the stirrings of his conscience and the unfamiliar emotions aroused in him by a beautiful, damaged girl.

Some footage from the first day of shooting on the set of the new Indiana Jones movie is now online. The movie's director Steven Spielberg has put up the footage on the website IndianaJones.com.

RocknRolla:

Gerard Butler, Tom Wilkinson, Thandie Newton, Idris Elba and Chris "Ludacris" Bridges have been cast in Guy Ritchie's caper flick "RocknRolla". Butler plays One Two, a street-smart mobster who has learned to play both sides of the fence, and Wilkinson is the lethal head mobster Lenny Cole, part of London's old mob regime, which is quickly losing ground to the wealthier foreign mob. Newton acts as One Two's love interest, Stella, an accountant with ties to the underworld, and Elba acts as Mumbles, One Two's partner. Bridges is playing Roman, an American trying to break into the music scene in London.

 

 

 

k*ll Bill 3 and 4:

Rumor has it that the plots of k*ll BILL 3 and 4 have been shaped and there is a chance director Quentin Tarantino will return to China to shoot them, an executive producer of the first two films said on Friday. Bennett Walsh said at the Shanghai International Film Festival the third film involves the revenge of two killers whose arms and eyes were hacked by Uma Thurman in the first stories. The fourth instalment of the popular kung fu action films concerns a cycle of reprisals and daughters who avenge their mother's deaths, Hangzhou-based newspaper City Express quoted Bennett as saying.

Iron Man:

Rumor has it that two-time Academy Award winner Hilary Swank will make a cameo appearance in next summer's Iron Man movie. According to the website, director Jon Favreau posted a thank you on his MySpace to "Ceasars (Palace) for their hospitality, generosity, and Swank accomodations."

 

 

 

Indiana Jones 4:

Reports last week said that Indiana Jones 4 would be filming at Yale University. The film has begun getting ready ath the Ivy League school with a whole bunch of storefronts look right out of 1957.

 

The NY Observer talks to one female extra who has lots to babble about while she's on the set. Construction along Chapel Street began late last week, and the production team has also set up shop in Yale's main dining hall. Filming begins on June 28. "It's the opening scene of the movie," Dunn says. "[Harrison Ford] is teaching a class and he hears some noise outside, which turns out to be an anti-Communist rally, and he goes out to investigate and he recognizes one of his old rivals from one of the other movies and he jumps on a motorcycle and ends up being chased by some guys in a car." She added: "I've heard rumors that the archeological artifact that they're looking for is the fountain of youth," Ms. Dunn said. "But I don't know."

 

The article also mentions the possible title of the new flick: Indiana Jones and the City of the Gods.

 

 

 

The Alchemist:

Laurence Fishburne and indie banner A-Mark Entertainment have acquired feature rights to Paulo Coelho's adventure novel "The Alchemist" from Warner Bros. Fishburne has penned the screenplay for the feature and is also set to direct. He'll produce with "The Lord of the Rings" producer Barrie Osborne and Helen Sugland in a reteaming of the producers for "Akeelah and the Bee." Story centers on a young Spaniard who embarks on a quest to find a hidden treasure within the Egyptian pyramids. Since its debut in 1988, the novel has sold more than 40 million copies in over 150 countries.

 

 

 

The Lovely Bones:

Ryan Gosling has signed on to co-star in Peter Jackson's The Lovely Bones for DreamWorks and Film 4. Rachel Weisz already has boarded the project, which is based on Alice Sebold's best-selling novel. The story is told through the voice of Susie Salmon, who is murdered but continues to observe her family on Earth after her death. Removed from the world she once knew, Susie witnesses the impact of her loss on her loved ones, while her killer skillfully covers his tracks and prepares to murder again. Gosling will play Susie's father, Jack Salmon.

 

 

 

Righteous k*ll:

50 Cent is in final negotiations to co-star with De Niro and Al Pacino in Jon Avnet's Righteous k*ll for Overture Films. The film has De Niro and Pacino onscreen together for nearly the entire film. The two play cops chasing a serial killer. 50 Cent will co-star as a drug dealer who helps the detectives with their investigation.

The Dark Knight::

Two new cast members have joined Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight: Melinda McGraw from CBS' Center of the Universe, and young Babel actor Nathan Gamble. McGraw will play the wife of Gary Oldman's Lieutenant James Gordon. Gamble will reportedly play the Gordons' son -- his name is James, Jr. in the comic.

 

In The Dark Knight, Batman raises the stakes in his war on crime. With the help of Lieutenant Gordon and District Attorney Harvey Dent, Bats sets out to dismantle the remaining criminal organizations of Gotham. The partnership proves to be effective, but they soon find themselves prey to a reign of chaos unleashed by a rising criminal mastermind known to terrified citizens as The Joker.

 

 

 

Body Of Lies:

Russell Crowe has stepped in to co-star with Leonardo DiCaprio in BODY OF LIES. DiCaprio signed on to star in the film for Scott back in April. Now Crowe will star in the film as a CIA leader who teams with an agent (DiCaprio) to bring down an Al Qaeda leader by claiming he's really in cahoots with Americans.

 

 

 

A Tale of Two Sisters (remake):

Arielle Kebbel and Emily Browning will star in DreamWorks Pictures' "A Tale of Two Sisters", the remake of the popular Korean horror-thriller. Elizabeth Banks (Slither), David Strathairn and Emily Browning (Darkness Falls) also star in the pic, helmed by Tom and Charles Guard. Lensing starts in July in Vancouver. The DreamWorks version centers on modern-day teenage sisters Anna and Alex Rydell who return home from a mental hospital only to find their recovery unraveling because of a cruel stepmother, clueless father and a lingering ghost.

Indiana Jones 4:

Another picture from next summer's Indiana Jones movie has magically appeared. This time we see a very un-Indy-like Harrison Ford on a motorcycle with Indy's son, played by Shia Labeouf.

The Echo (remake) :

Amelia Warner will be joining Jesse Bradford in Yam Laranas' remake of The Echo, which begins shooting in Toronto, Canada later this summer, according to Twitch Film. The story revolves around a young ex-con who moves into an old apartment building, only to learn his neighbor is an abusive police officer who savagely beats his wife and daughter. When the ex-con tries to intervene, he becomes trapped in a curse.

Beowulf:

The film is based on a screenplay by scribes Neil Gaiman and Roger Avary, inspired by the ninth century Old English poem. In the epic tale, Beowulf, a hero of the Geats tribe, travels to Denmark to help defeat a monster named Grendel. He later returns to Geatland, where he becomes king. Beowulf's all-star cast includes Ray Winstone, Anthony Hopkins, John Malkovich, Robin Wright Penn, Brendan Gleeson, Crispin Glover, Alison Lohman and Angelina Jolie.

 

 

 

Speed Racer:

The legendary Richard Roundtree has joined the Wachowski brothers live-action version of the classic 1960s Manga 'Speed Racer'. Roundtree will play Ben Burns, a racer-turned-commentator who is an icon to the fans and a hero to Speed Racer. Roundtree joins Emile Hirsch, Matthew Fox, Christina Ricci, Susan Sarandon and John Goodman. Speed Racer opens in theaters May 9, 2008.

Blood on the Leaves:

George C. Wolfe (Lackawanna Blues) is set to direct Blood on the Leaves starring Jamie Foxx for Paramount Pictures. Based on Jeffrey Stetson's 2004 novel, the story centers on a district attorney who grapples with feelings of revenge as he prosecutes a black history professor on trial for the murders of white men accused of crimes against blacks during the Civil Rights movement. The studio is searching for a second male lead.

 

 

 

Insomnia:

Wrong Turn" director Rob Schmidt is set to the helm an adaptation of Stephen King's "Insomnia". The story follows the recently widowed Ralph Roberts who develops acute insomnia. His sleepless nights wandering the town soon become stranger when he starts noticing not only varied color auras streaming out of people's heads, but two odd like men dressed like surgeons and up to no good.

 

 

 

Resident Evil: Extinction:

Alice (Milla Jovovich), now in hiding in the Nevada desert, once again joins forces with Carlos Olivera (Oded Fehr) and L.J. (Mike Epps), along with new survivors Claire (Ali Larter), K-Mart (Spencer Locke) and Nurse Betty (Ashanti) to try to eliminate the deadly virus that threatens to make every human being undead... and to seek justice.

The Dark Knight:

Spawn star Michael Jai White has reportedly joined the cast of The Dark Knight, director Christopher Nolan's sequel to Batman Begins. White will play "Gamble" in the film. Dark Knight producers Charles Roven and Emma Thomas described Gamble as "one of several mob bosses attempting to take over Gotham's streets now that Carmine Falcone (Tom Wilkinson in the first Batman flick) is out of the picture. As Dark Knight opens, Batman and Jim Gordon must decide whether to focus their energy on aspiring thugs like Gamble, or the homicidal Joker (Heath Ledger), a costumed anarchist bank robber."

 

 

 

Saw 4:

Jigsaw and his apprentice Amanda are dead.

The Random Spiel: July 3rd 2007

 

- A great collection of photos of one of the converted Kwik-E-Marts for the upcoming "Simpsons Movie".

 

- "Transformers" pulled in approximately $8.8 million from its Monday evening preview screenings.

 

- Trailers expected in front of "Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix" next week include: "10,000 B.C.," "The Dark is Rising," "Fred Claus," "Get Smart," and "The Spiderwick Chronicles."

 

- The "Alien vs. Predator" sequel has changed its title again, now its "Aliens vs. Predator".

 

- A pretty interesting script review is out for the film adaptation of "The Losers".

Sex and the City: The Movie

New Line Cinema has decided to jump aboard the film as longtime "Sex and the City" executive producer/director/writer Michael Patrick King will direct from a script he wrote. Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon are all set to reprise their roles as filming aims to get underway this fall. No story details or any other casting have been confirmed.

 

 

 

Bullitt:

Brad Pitt will star in a remake of the 1960's classic Bullitt. Pitt will play Lt. Frank Bullitt, who was made famous by silver screen legend Steve McQueen. The movie is about a San Francisco cop hunting down a hitman who killed his fellow officers. It is renowned for what is considered one of the best car chase scenes in the history of movies.
