THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM:

Universal has hired writer Tony Gilroy to write the third and final installment in the BOURNE trilogy, THE BOURNE ULTIMATUM. Gilroy, who wrote the previous BOURNE pics as well, was paid $2 million for the gig of adapting the Robert Ludlum book. Matt Damon hasn't yet signed on to star but expressed interest and would agree pending a final draft of the script. Paul Greengrass doesn't look likely to return to direct as he continues to look for a home for his project THE WATCHMEN. The studio won't start the search for a director until the script is finished and Damon signs on (the actor has approval rights on the film's director). While it's unclear who close the script will stay to the novel but the book follows our hero who's forced to go back underground when the villainous Carlos the Jackal finds out his civilian identity and looks to k*ll him and his family.

THE UNTOUCHABLES SEQUEL:

Paramount has been developing a prequel based on the classic 1987 film THE UNTOUCHABLES that at one time Antoine Fuqua (TRAINING DAY) was set to direct. Then Fuqua left the project and the status was up in the air. But over the past two months, Brian De Palma, who directed the original, has shown interest in returning to tell the tale of how Al Capone rose to power. De Palma was working with producer Art Linson on THE BLACK DAHLIA while Linson was also working on developing the UNTOUCHABLES prequel. He presented a draft of the script, written by Brian Koppelman and David Levien (ROUNDERS), to De Palma who sparked to the story and has been developing the project with Linson since. The film follows Capone's arrival in Chicago and his encounters with tough cop Johnny Malone (the role Sean Connery won an Oscar for in the original). Another classic crime movie prequel is on its way with CARLITO'S WAY: THE BEGINNING making its way to theaters with Jay Hernandez and Sean "P Diddy" Combs starring. De Palma's THE BLACK DAHLIA, with Hilary Swank, Josh Hartnett and Scarlett Johansson, was recently picked up by Universal for distribution. De Palma and Linson hope to get their UNTOUCHABLES prequel ready to start filming early next year.

BEWITCHED

Out in California's San Fernando Valley, Isabel is trying to reinvent herself. A naïve, good-natured witch, she is determined to disavow her supernatural powers and lead a normal life. At the same time, across town, Jack Wyatt a tall, charming actor is trying to get his career back on track. He sets his sights on an updated version of the beloved 1960s situation comedy Bewitched, re-conceived as a starring vehicle for himself in the role of the mere-mortal Darrin. Fate steps in when Jack accidentally runs into Isabel. He is immediately attracted to her and her nose, which bears an uncanny resemblance to the nose of Elizabeth Montgomery, who played Samantha in the original TV version of Bewitched. He becomes convinced she could play the witch Samantha in his new series. Isabel is also taken with Jack, seeing him as the quintessential mortal man with whom she can settle down and lead the normal life she so desires. It turns out they're both right--but in ways neither of them ever imagined.

Charlie and the Chocolate Factory

Running Time: 1 hr. 46 min.

Release Date: July 15th, 2005 (international)

MPAA Rating: PG for quirky situations, action and mild language.

Distributor: Warner Bros. Pictures

Starring: Johnny Depp, Freddie Highmore, David Kelly, Helena Bonham Carter and Deep Roy.

Directed by: Tim Burton.

What's The Story?

There are five golden tickets hidden in candy bars scattered around the world. Anyone who finds one is invited to meet the strange and mysterious chocolatier Willy Wonka and join him on a tour of his wondrous factory. For Charlie Bucket, a lonely kid from a poor family, finding a ticket could be the opportunity of a lifetime.

Three Good Reasons

• It's the fourth collaboration between director Tim Burton and star Johnny Depp, who always bring out the best (and weirdest) in each other.

• Screenwriter John August directly adapted the Roald Dahl novel. He didn't see the 1971 original film until after he was finished.

• Depp recommended Freddie Highmore for the role of Charlie after working with the young actor in "Finding Neverland."
