Blxst
The basics are to reduce sodium intake and lose weight. The extra mass around the heart and circulatory system increases pressure. Depending on your age and your current heart condition, you might need a drastic diet change or cholesterol lowering/regulating medication. Cutting down on red meat helps bectof the high sodium and high cholesterol. Ideally you eat it only once or twice a week. But you might have to cut it out entirely. Sodium is tricky because it makes food taste better. If you look at the sodium in all of your commercial snacks, you'll see that they're all quite high, delivering 20-50% of your daily recommended sodium intake. So, unfortunately, you will have to check nutrition labels if you love snacks. But that's life. Quote Link to comment

While grapefruit and other foods can help due to its anti-inflammatory properties, many patients treat this like a magic solution and lean into high fat and high sodium diets. A mild diet change is required for most people with blood pressure issues, as you don't need to stop eating your favorites but cut down on them and increase intake of fruits and vegetables.
