I noticed that the previous thread was chock-full of spam posts, since it would take too long to remove and edit the s@%t, I made this new thread. Any poster going OT (defined as not about Islam, pro or anti) will be taking a 2 day vacation for the first offense and doubling after that.

Please note that any form of personal attacks or flaming is also verbotten.

This is a new thread, don't make it a dirty one.

I like Islam for their honesty when it comes to male and female relations.

Their honesty in terms of recognizing and legalizing polygamy.

In the real world in Manila, this is the reality on the ground, it's called asawa, kabit, girlfriend, fubu and prosti system.

Islamic marriage policies put order in the mayhem of reality.

Indonesian Islamists eye proselytizing Christians

(philstar.com) Updated July 03, 2010 09:00 PM

BEKASI (AP) - A banner with a picture of a young, bi-spectacled Christian man is draped in front of the mosque, a fiery noose around his neck and the words: "This man deserves the death penalty!"

Churches are shut down. And an Islamic youth militia prepares for its first day of training.

Though the events all occur less than 5 miles (10 kilometers) from Indonesia's bustling capital, making headlines in local papers and dominating chats on social networking sites such as Facebook, they've sparked little public debate in the halls of power.

"I really see this as a threat to democracy," said Arbi Sanit, a political analyst, noting leaders never like to say anything that can be perceived as "un-Islamic," because they depend heavily on the support of Muslim parties in parliament.

"Being popular is more important to them than punishing those who are clearly breaking the law," Sanit said.

Indonesia, a secular nation with more Muslims than any other in the world, has a long history of religious tolerance, though a small extremist fringe has gotten more vocal in recent years. Members of the Islamic Defenders Front, or FPI, have been known to smash bars, attack transvestites and go after minority sects with bamboo clubs and stones.

Now, they are targeting Christians in the fast-growing industrial city of Bekasi.

Outsiders have steadily poured into the Jakarta suburb in search of work, bringing with them their own religions, traditions and values. That has made conservative Islamic clerics nervous. Some have used sermons to warn their flock to be on the lookout for signs of proselytization.

So, when 14 busloads of villagers arrived on June 30 at the home of Henry Sutanto, who heads the Christian-run Mahanaim Foundation, rumors quickly spread that he - and Andreas Sanau, the condemned man, whose face appears on the mosque banner - were planning a mass baptism.

A spokeswoman for the group, Marya Irawan, insisted the crowds were invited as part of efforts to reach out to the poor.

The FPI was not convinced. Video footage provided by the hard-line group shows hundreds of people getting off buses and entering the residential complex, many of them women in headscarves holding babies in slings, and milling about the pool. When the questioner thrust the camera in their faces, demanding to know why they came, most just looked bewildered.

"Someone asked if I wanted to come," said one woman with a shrug. Others accepted a ride into the city because they were bored, and thought they would at least get a free lunch out of it.

When the questioner found Sanau, who had one ear to the phone, he asked if baptisms would be taking place. The 29-year-old Christian's brow furrowed. He shook his head, "no, no." Asked if he had an ID card, Sanau flashed it at the interviewer, who zoomed in on his home address. The house has since been abandoned.

"He should be executed!" said Murhali Barda, who heads the Bekasi chapter of the FPI. "He tried to carry out mass baptisms!"

Days later, his hard-line group joined nine others in recommending at a local congress that Bekasi mosques help set up youth militias to act as moral police and to intimidate Christians who are trying to convert Muslims.

Barda said more than 1,500 volunteers came forward. They were scheduled to start training Saturday, he said, stressing the men would not be armed.

"We're doing this because we want to strike fear in the hearts of Christians who behave in such a way," he said. "If they refuse to stop what they're doing, we're ready to fight."

A regional leader of Indonesian Muslim Forum, Bernard Abdul Jabbar, said about 100 of the mosque's young activists in Bekasi attended the first day of training early Saturday, with a mission to oppose ongoing attempts to convert people to Christianity.

Jabbar said youths, mostly wearing martial arts uniforms, were given physical training and taught about Islam. "They will guard Islamic faith and preach the right path to the people," he said.

Priest Andreas Yewangoe, a chairman of Communion of Indonesian Churches, said the militia will only create fear, nervousness and unrest in the nation. "The government must protect all citizens from anarchist action as mandated by the constitution," Yewangoe said.

Religious-led violence has been on the rise for months in Bekasi.

Mobs have forced shut two churches this year. Last month, a statue of three women was torn down by authorities after hundreds of hard-liners wearing skull caps and white robes took to the streets, claiming the monument symbolized the Holy Trinity.

Weeks earlier, black-clad youths attacked a Catholic-run school over an anonymous blogger's "blasphemous" website.

Increasingly, the public is jumped into the debate.

Stories appear regularly on the front pages of newspapers about FPI. Opinion pages are filled with letters calling on the group to be banned. More than 50,000 people signed petitions on Facebook, which has turned into a portent political force.

The government - except when three lawmakers were attacked by FPI during a meeting in East Java - has made no public comment.

The religion of peace in action!

In the real world in Manila, this is the reality on the ground, it's called asawa, kabit, girlfriend, fubu and prosti system.

Islamic marriage policies put order in the mayhem of reality.

This must be the "honesty" you are referring to:

"If ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly with the orphans, marry women of your choice, two or three or four; but if ye fear that ye shall not be able to deal justly with them, then only one, or a captive that your right hands possess, that will be more suitable, to prevent you from doing injustice" (4:3)

And by "order" do you mean this:

"Good women are the obedient, guarding in secret that which Allah hath guarded. As for those from whom ye fear rebellion, admonish them and banish them to beds apart, and scourge them" (4:34)

Or this, which is according to the Pakistan Institute of Medical Sciences:

Over 90 percent of Pakistani wives have been struck, beaten, or abused sexually - for offenses on the order of cooking an unsatisfactory meal. (April 17, 2002, http://web.amnesty.o...

And to what extent do you find their marriage policies admirable? To the extent that child marriages are encouraged, perhaps?

"In Egypt 29 percent of married adolescents have been beaten by their husbands; of those 41 percent were beaten during pregnancy. A study in Jordan indicated that 26 percent of reported cases of domestic violence were committed against wives under 18." (Andrew Bushell, "Child Marriage in Afghanistan and Pakistan," America, March 11, 2002, 12.)

The passages that exhibit this honesty you speak of beget a pervasive belief that women are mere possessions to be used by their husbands, and not worthy of equality of dignity with men as human beings.

Pakistan, the so-called “Land of Pure” openly degrades the western culture and takes pride in preserving modesty. The country also has banned about 17 anti-Islamic websites.

Yet, Google has revealed that Pakistan tops in certain word search, such as “Horse Sex”, “Donkey Sex”, “Rape Picture”, “Rape Sex”, “Animal Sex”, “Camel Sex” and “Dog Sex”.

Following the tradition of Prophet Mohammed, Pakistan also tops in searching, “Child Sex”.

controversial fatwas.

DUBAI - Saudi authorities are toughening rules for Islamic clerics who wish to issue fatwas, or religious edicts, urging them to check with a Saudi ministry before approaching the media to avoid controversy and embarrassment.

The call comes after a fatwa issued in May said that women should donate their breast milk to men in an attempt to get around the kingdom’s ban on the mixing of unrelated men and women.

Women in the kingdom threatened to adopt the controversial fatwa and breastfeed their drivers to turn them into their relatives.

Yahoo! Maktoob News takes a look at some of the most high-profile fatwas in recent years.

BREAST MILK FOR UNRELATED MALES

Saudi scholar Sheikh Abdul Mohsin al-Abaican suggested in May 2009 that women should donate their breast milk to men in an attempt to get around the kingdom’s ban on unrelated men and women mixing.

“The man should take the milk, but not directly from the breast of the woman," Abaican was quoted as saying in Saudi newspaper. "Drinking the milk makes the man a relative of the family, "a fact that allows him to come in contact with the women without breaking Islam's rules about mixing".

Saudi citizens and bloggers have slammed the fatwa saying it is “totally unrelated to reality” and have called on scholars to focus on “much more significant issues”.

WORKING IN BANKS IS UNISLAMIC

Darul-Uloom Deoband, India’s oldest Sunni-run seminary, issued a fatwa in May 2010 against Muslims working in banks, newspapers in the country reported.

“According to the tenets of Islam, Muslims must not work in banks because as employees they would have to deal with transactions involving interest and also make interest entries in bank ledgers,” the group said.

“That is a violation of sharia ... Interest is strictly banned under sharia law. Anyone having anything to do with interest is clearly committing an illegal act."

The same group in 2006 issued a fatwa against Muslims buying life insurance.

DOGS ‘UNCLEAN’, NOT FIT TO BE PETS

Senior Iranian cleric Ayatollah Naser Makarem Shirazi decreed in June 2010 that dogs are "unclean" and should not be kept as pets.

His fatwa, aimed at discouraging Western-style dog ownership in the Islamic state, could see people who carry dogs in their cars or take them to public places stopped by police and fined.

"Friendship with dogs is a blind imitation of the West," the cleric was quoted as saying in Iranian daily Javan. "There are lots of people in the West who love their dogs more than their wives and children."

The Koran does not explicitly prohibit contact with dogs, Shirazi said, but Islamic tradition showed it to be so. "We have lots of narrations in Islam that say dogs are unclean."

EMOTICONS ARE EVIL

Many finds emoticons, facial expressions such as a frown or smile sent by SMS or email, annoying and dramatic.

But Muslim Internet Forum Multaqa Ahl al Hadeeth, which calls itself a "meeting place of students of knowledge, said in February 2008 that emoticons are "forbidden" under Islam because of their "imitation to Allah’s creatures whether it is original or mixture or even deformed one and since the picture is the face and the face is what makes the real picture then emoticons which represent faces that express emotions … all that (adds) up to make them Haram.”

This virtual forum of Islamic intellectuals added: “A woman should not use these images when speaking to a man who is not her mahram (relative), because these faces are used to express how she is feeling, so it is as if she is smiling, laughing, acting shy and so on, and a woman should not do that with a non-mahram man. It is only permissible for a woman to speak to men in cases of necessity, so long as that is in a public chat room and not in private correspondence.”

FACEBOOK IS HARAM

A prominent Egyptian cleric issued a fatwa in February 2010 forbidding Muslims to use Facebook, blaming the popular social networking site for rising marital infidelity and divorce.

Sheikh Abdel Hamid al-Atrash labelled those using Facebook “sinners” and said the site “endangers the Muslim family”, , Daily News Egypt reported, citing an interview in London-based daily Asharq Alawsat.

"It's an instrument that destroys the family because it encourages spouses to have relations with other people, which breaks Islamic sharia law,” said Atrash, former head of the fatwa commission at Cairo's Al-Azhar University.

"While one or other of the spouses is at work, the other is chatting online with someone else, wasting their time and flouting the sharia."

He later lashed out at media for misrepresenting his quotes. A week after his controversial comments, Dubai’s Iftaa committee decreed sites such as Facebook are not forbidden in Islam as long as users surf them for the correct reasons.

MALAYSIAN TOMBOYS CONDEMNED

Malaysia’s National Fatwa Council in Oct 2008 issued a fatwa banning tomboys, saying girls who act unlady-like violate the tenets of Islam.

Newspapers in the country and abroad reported that the council deemed tomboys as showing little respect for the faith.

Harussani Idris Zakaria, mufti of the northern Perak state, said that the behaviour and dress of this growing number of “disrespectful” young women can turn some of them to homosexuality. “It doesn't matter if it's a law or not. When it's wrong, it's wrong. It is a sin ... Tomboy (behaviour) is forbidden in Islam.”

It was not clear at the time what punishment awaited the tomboy fatwa violators.

HINDU YOGA CAN CORRUPT MUSLIMS

On the heels of banning tomboys, Malaysia's top Islamic body in October 2008 decreed that Muslims should not practice yoga.

Newspapers around the world quoted Abdul Shukor Husin, the chairman of Malaysia’s National Fatwa Council, as saying that elements of Hinduism in the ancient Indian art of exercise could corrupt them.

"We are of the view that yoga, which originates from Hinduism, combines physical exercise, religious elements, chanting and worshipping for the purpose of achieving inner peace and ultimately to be one with god," he said.

Marina Mahathir, an activist in the country, wondered what the council would ban next.

"Gyms?" she questioned. "Most gyms have men and women together. Will that not be allowed anymore?"

allah akbar, salah malaj kum. if you have nothing nice to say about a religion, say nothing. islam is peace.

Yeah there will be peace after you are done with "seeking out" all the infidels in the planet and the only existing religion is Islam. By the way how come the Shiite and the Sunni muslims are always after each others throat? Is this also to attain peace on earth?

So nangagalaiti ang mga Muslims because some people burned copies of the Koran during the last anniversary of 911. But how do you reconcile their behaviour 9 years ago when we saw on TV how they danced and called heroes the hijackers immediately after the planes crashed on the World Trade Center. From how I look at them, talagang utak pulbura ang mga ito.

Well, Muslims minds are operating in a one-way street no reciprocity! They always want they have the upperhand against non-believers! They want to exercise freedom of religion and build mosque in countries where they are minorities but they don't allow churches and other beliefs in countries where islam dominates. F>CK PISSLAM!
