RED2018
What's important is for Andray to be in fighting form come the FIBA-Asia, and for him to keep and not forget Gilas' system of plays. Malay natin, this episode could motivate the Gilas Boys and make this as a spring board and rallying point 1 Quote Link to comment
junix
It doesn't matter if Blatche does not play in the Jones Cup since it is just a minor tournament. The end game is FIBA-Asia. What's important is for Andray to be in fighting form come the FIBA-Asia, and for him to keep and not forget Gilas' system of plays. Malay natin, this episode could motivate the Gilas Boys and make this as a spring board and rallying point the ultimate goal is the fiba asia gold...which will bring the philippines to the olympics. JonDaniel
We know that the players from the San Miguel Corporation teams were prevented by management at the highest level from suiting up for Gilas and no matter how team representatives to the board strive to deny the fact and in so doing blame the players for the decision not to play, won’t fool anyone. Our people, especially the basketball fans, are far more discerning and simply refuse to buy the SMC hogwash as well as that of Rain or Shine who, at least, haven’t publicly explained their decision not to allow Paul Lee and Jeff Chan to join the national pool under coach Tab Baldwin.Marc Pingris, in a turnaround which was precipitated by the terrible backlash especially in social media sites against SMC and the launching of a boycott of their products, joined the team and sought to soften the blow against San Miguel Corporation with an explanation that nobody regrettably believed because Pingris is basically a nice young man who has always wanted to play for the country. But when he was initially preparing to attend the Gilas practice he received a phone call from PBA chairman Robert Non telling him not to attend because those were the instructions of Ramon Ang. That forced Pingris to pull-out and it certainly wasn’t his decision.Junmar Fajardo’s claim that he was suffering because of an injury in both feet also doesn’t hold water because he had a terrific PBA Conference Finals and if he could play hurt for his commercial team, surely he could make the sacrifice and play for our country. The attitude of Jordan Clarkson who is a legitimate NBA star unlike some of our PBA players who are nowhere near his caliber, should make those players who refused to heed the call of duty and those who engineered the refusal, ashamed of themselves.Whatever happened to the riveting slogan – Para sa Bayan? VERY STRAIGHT FORWARD..I LOVE THIS ARTICLE FROM RONNIE NATHANIELS...SPREAD THIS... Quote Link to comment
RED2018
Korea (represented by their national team) was clobbered by the flamboyant Iran by 31 points (77-46) Edited August 29, 2015 by artedpro Quote Link to comment
RED2018
We just won our first game against our nemesis and host Taipei, 77-69. Terrence Romeo and Calvin Abueva were effective. Nice start for a team without Andray yet... Quote Link to comment
azraelmd
Not hec calma but a younger castro(romeo )... Nice replacement for LA...at least pagpinalitan si castro gilas can maintain the fast paced game with romeo... Kulang lang sa rebound.....japhet and junemar would have made us almost unstoppable....replacing thoss and pingris... Quote Link to comment
ray004
Gilas made me proud tonight! Quote Link to comment

azraelmd
Fajardo will be for Asi and not sure bout Japeth. Pingris got defense and hustle over Japeth.Hustle yes...defense not really ...in FIBA asia...lahat ng nasa position ni pingris mas matataas sa kanya...hustle can only get you so far...japhet can guard those tall PF and SF..plus yun mga nagdradrive towards the basket...we can use japhets shotblocking prowess...tsaka with romeo and castro na magaling magdrive....konting pasa nlang sure na dunk na sa loob kina fajardo and japhet...Nde ginamit si rosario? Sana si troy nalang kesa kay thoss... Quote Link to comment
RED2018
Imagine Gilas' potential if Junemar and Clarkson can be inserted in the line-up.Am drooling and salivating on the possibility...SANA...SANA!!! 1 Quote Link to comment
RED2018
To me, this tournament should be for the creation of cohesion. Gilas doesn't necessarily have to win this tournament although it wouldn't hurt if Gilas wins this tournament. I agree...build up the cohesion and chemistry as they run thru their system, and bonus na lang kapag nanalo. I also believe that Coach Tab is smart enough not to lay out all his cards Quote Link to comment
junix
Imagine Gilas' potential if Junemar and Clarkson can be inserted in the line-up.Am drooling and salivating on the possibility...SANA...SANA!!! i am waiting for that time, too chief. somebody in this thread suggested a starting five composed of junemar, blatche, clarkson, norwood and romeo (?). guys who can come off the bench would be abueva, castro, troy, japeth and greg (if eligibility issues can be ironed out). go gilas. let's get win no. 2!!! 1 Quote Link to comment
smyts
Korea, Taiwan , China did not play against gilas with Blatche. Mas effective nga plays ni Tab. Quote Link to comment
smyts
T. Rome reminds me of a young and athletic Hec Calma although Calma is more cerebral. Abueva was f#&king fearless. These two should be in the FIBA-Asia line-up. No Blatche, No problem. RP clobbers Taiwan in their house. What made this victory even more impressive was the Taiwanese played with Jones while we were Blatchless. That Taiwanese line up is the same that defeated Gilas in Fiba- asia in MOA Quote Link to comment
azraelmd
But...our asian rivals(korea, japan taipei etc) learned their lessons from their last fiba asia stint here...theyre expecting our tall guys in our lineup...look at korea...thay now have 2x 6"-9 players and moon...we're gonna be outmatched on the boards...hopefully we can see how rosario and MGR handles playing inside... azraelmd
Aside from building cohesion, Tab would know who to cull from the pool in this tournament. So far, Abueva and Romeo are showing why they should be included in the FIBA-Asia line-up.Abueva and romeo are shooins...replacing LA and dilinger...now if only they can find replacements for japhet and junemar...even ping...sana maganda laro ni rosario para palitan si ping Edited August 31, 2015 by azraelmd Quote Link to comment
Zee Z
Sobrang sayang nung last possession natin sa end of 3rd. 4 point swing yun. Pero we need to be better sa defensive rotations natin. Two games na laging nalilibre ang mga 3 pointers Quote Link to comment
bughaw1
if we win 5 games sa jones cup ....coach tab is doing the right moves and gilas will be at its fighting form come fiba asia. sakto sakto lang tayo dapat dito...para di tayo masyado paghandaan sa fiba asia ,yun naman ang main goal eh. isa pa,sana kung sino yung nasa roster plus blatche eh yun na din lang ang lineup sa fiba asia. mag cut na lang from the roster..wag na yung bigla idadagdag si japhet, marcio o si junemar..makakasira pa sa cohesiveness ng team yun. we dont need to win against iran...we just have to make it competitive enough...dont get me wrong.....winning the jones cup is nice pero qualifying for the olympics is much better. 1 Quote Link to comment
