Team Pilipinas Basketball

After Gilas lost to Chinese Taipei yesterday, I've read lots of tweets on twitter blaming Gary David for not being his usual self the past few games of the tournament. There were tweets like "Si Gary D kasi all offense no defense, di pa maka shoot" "Asan ang galing mo El Granada?" . Seriously, why blame the man? It's a team effort and not individual. They win as a team and they lose as a team. If you only knew how hard it was for El Granada in making it to the team. Stop the blame game, and besides coach Chot already admited that it was his fault for making such coaching lapses.

Stop the blaming, suportahan nalang ang Gilas! Laban Pilipinas!

+ 1 HERE

Let's just move on, and no longer dwell on past mistake. The key is to learn from them and improve.

our main problem is castro's role in the rotation. he's one of the best slashers kaso he's not a good point guard. if he's playing we need another point guard (thats why in the pba the combination of castro and alapag works), which means we have 2 small guys in the team. big height disadvantage naman ang problem.

and also we need to learn how to pace marcus. laging kapos sa endgame.

gary david is not the problem. he's just playing token minutes.

Ako tingin ko the team did well vs taiwan, bwenas lang sa shooting..... Suggestion ko lang sana they should not fall in love sa 3point shooting....find their sweet spots ... Dont double sa poste at penetrators para walang shooter na malibre.... Win or loose they are doing a good job... Mahirap maglaro ng competitive basketball gabi gabi....

Here's an interesting piece from The Dean:

Should we beat the Qataris, we would most likely end up No. 2 in our Group, where we would most likely meet the Chinese who would be tipped to be No. 3 in the other Group. This will be a dreaded scenario, where obviously the Chinese team is conserving energy and strategizing ploys. What is positive 'though is that the Chinese isn't playing well as they used to be (no highly-skilled point guard, injured star player, aging back-up to the star player, and 'new' system by the new coach).

Pero para sa 'kin hataw lang baka magsisi pa sa huli, marami pang pwedeng mangyari...

+1...if we have to beat the chinese in order to be champs (or at least achieve our mission) then let it be.

They should better focus on their games, including tonight, rather than think about their position on the KO games (let their coaching staff dwell on that matter). They way I see it, they are peaking at the right time and they are playing an inspiring basketball.

If the Philippines wants to win in all, all it takes for them is to beat every opponent they face regardless of the strengths and weaknesses. ;)

Congrats again Gilas! Hands down to kuya Marcus Douthit for playing despite of being hurt. Special mention also to Jeff Chan for those cold blooded threes, Gabe Norwood for a tremendous job of defending Jarvis Hayes and Japeth Aguilar for those rim rockin' dunks!

Now we hope that Qatar beats Chinese Taipei by more than 15 pts.

Laban Pilipinas !!

Marcus Douthit, kaw na ang may pusong Pilipino!

Great defensive game by Gabe Norwood vs NBA vet Jarvis Hayes. And other teams should watch out for Japeth "like it's HOT" Aguilar for those awesome throwdown dunks!

Hope Qatar beats Taiwan tomorrow so Philippines will rank #1 in their group.
