It used to be known as RK 96 Real Radio. On October 6, 2008, it has been announced that the Elizalde Group of Companies' Manila Broadcasting Company has purchased WRocK from the Hodreal family, owners of ACWS-UBN, for PhP229.6 million. Except for the acquisition price, further terms were not disclosed. [1] Also, radio guidelines dictate that an entity could declare no more than one station under its direct ownership; hence as MBC is the declared owner of the network flagship FM station 90.7 Love Radio, it could not be the declared owner of 96.3. As such, the frequency was assigned to Cebu Broadcasting Company. This December, new management started the process of moving the station from FEMS Tower 1 in Osmeña Highway in Manila, its home for 20 years, to its new home at the MBC broadcast complex in Star City, to share facilities with its new sister stations. While the Manila & Provincial radio station is under the control of Cebu Broadcasting Company, ACWS-UBN retains control of the www.hayag.com/wrock online stream, with former radio DJ Cherry first calling the shots for stingers on the stream. Also, the said stream is entirely different to that of the "WRocK" Manila broadcast under the MBC group.
