Depends on what class you want to play in, production, standard, modified or open. Polymers are under production class, 1911s and 2011s in standard, modified 1911s and 2011s sa modified, but guns limited to a certain box size, free for all modifications for open restricted by power factos Quote Link to comment

streyer
Finding a gun for you will first depend on your budget. If you have a good budget then you're free to choose which ever category you want. Preferences as I may say. I prefer the standard category using SV .40cal pistol. troubleshooter8
I prefer using cal 40 in competitions. However my standard issue is a Mark IV Cal .45 Quote Link to comment

massive
if youre working on a budget you may want to get a 1911 GI series armscor or norinco would do, i do have to warn you coz eventualy you would want to tweek or even upgrade your piece, that will satisfy youre expectations as a shooter. I learned my lesson the hard way, I liked the Polymer gun released by armscor because of the way it looked it was with me for two years and still looks good like it just came out of the box. The thing is parts availability is hard to come by even if you go to the source (armscor). The Gun was not zeroed that means you have to pay the gunsmith to put adjustable sights and that alone would cost another 9k. other than that the gun shot flawlessly in the range no jams. I ended up selling that piece and got myself a 1911a1 FS match grade from armscor, it was the sweetest thing ever, it had an adjustable sight, shoots good no jams and groups excelent. here it is : budget gun go for the GI 1911 single stack 7+1 rounds 1911 practical series armscor available in hi capacity magazine amd single stack 1911 norinco STI is too pricey. cz's para ordnance .45 Bersa Thunder .380 Walther pistol You may want to consider also if you want to get a single or double action only pistol. before i forget if you want to use it for conceal and carry better get a small gun like bersa thunder or p22 walther pistol. The thing with a 1911 is the availability of the parts. Quote Link to comment
