vkalbos
IMHO, Coach Jawo can obviously bring back and lift the "Never say Die Spirit" of Ginebra. No doubt about his charm to the fans, but does he still able to adopt the system of playing in the PBA today? He's off for many years and I think his a little bit rusty with a solid big heart in basketball. but Legend speaks for itself, Coach Sonny is one the best coach in the PBA history... Futuristic Idea? I would like to see Coach Guaio giving instructions to Ginebra Players someday. Hell No for Cariaso!!! Quote Link to comment
jepoyskieLOVEbianca
I think Coach Sonny would be effective as Ginebra Head coach... and this is with all due respect to all comments which says that Coach Sonny's old coaching style might not be effective today... here's my point: * First, a lot of us were able to witness what a short pep talk from Coach Sonny could do to this team...(then now imagine what could a 3-hours practice,or any number of hours, depending on how long doour team usually practice, could do to our team) I bet majority of us believes that if not for that dug-out appearance by Coach Sonny, BGSM-SanMig series could have ended even more earlier (Game 6) Coach Jawo is a great motivator... just take a look at our last champion team which was held by him...Marlou (who happens to be a lot more slower than Japeth), Feihl (who unarguably lacks talent than Slaughter), Hizon (whom i think is as deadly as a shooter as Baracael), Locsin (who is as hardworking as JR Reyes), David (who is as quick and intelligent as Tenorio), plus Jarencio / Gayoso / Ong / Cheng (now we have an improved team with Ellis, Mamaril, Helterbrand, Ababou), and oops i almost forgot...they have Dodot Jaworksi (man, we have Forrester, 100% better, right??) may mga hindi pa ko nasama dyan... pero Coach Sonny brought that team on top!! * Second, dun sa nagsasabi na baka hindi na updated ang basketball ni Coach Sonny sa mga recentna game changes, aba eh kaya nga may mga assistant coaches eh... dun nila matutulungan si Coachin looking for plays na pwede magamit... si Coach pa din naman ang mag-implement... magbibigaylang sila ng ideas... in the game si Coach na ang mag-design ng plays... once a great coach, alwaysa great coach, kaya i'm sure makaka-adjust sya... ska hello???? do you have to still play basketballto be a great coach??? wala ba silang TV sa bahay para hindi na makapanuod si Coach ng mga games?si Yeng Guiao ba naglalaro??? si Norman Black ba naglalaro pa??? i'm sure in his own waysinteresado pa din at nanunuod si Coach ng mga games... kailangan ng BGSM yung coach na magpapakita ng authority, someone they look up to... if coach Sonny was able to do it before, he can do that again today... 1 Quote Link to comment
vkalbos
Edited April 25, 2014 by vkalbos Quote Link to comment
darksoulriver
No to Jeff Cariaso for replacement.... Point taken. Having Coach Sonny on the bench of Ginbera is a huge crowd impact. Yes, I think he's a little bit short of style today compared to his glorious years in the PBA. I mean, "magkaiba pa ren yung nanunuod na lang kesa nung sya pa ang nag titimon". Quote Link to comment

azraelmd
Iba ang nagmomotivate sa nagcocoach...i love the big J.....jawo is hands down a really really great motivator...if not the best motivator....but coaching before vs coaching now is very very different also....you cannot keep on comparing marlou with japhet, feihl with slaughter etc....since during their time the talent pool and quality of teams are vastly inferior compared to todays player...dati rati one on one lang ok na eh...kaya nga napagiwanan tayo ng mga ibang bansa dahil sa one on one plays natin...Now look at the different plays being used...from gilas dribble drive to san mig all dependable triangle defense...sama mo narin yun kay black , trillo and of course RoS...thats why im implying that maybe jawo will be behind sa coaching style...tama sinabi ng isa dyan ....ganun ba kadali magadopt si jawo??? .....iba yun nagpep talk sa nagcocoach na...pero syempre mas maganda kung magaling magmotivate and magcoach at the same time...SA NGAYON HA!....compare mo sina yeng and trillo...then kay cone and black....mas magaling mag motivate si yeng kesa kay trillo...pero si cone magaling magmotivate and coach pa....NOW ...will cone out motivate jawo sa mga players? Of course not....but will cone out coach jawo??? ...perhaps ....sa ngayon...Yes we all agree na kelangan palitan ng coach ang ginebra...but dont get our hopes too high that the BIG J will instantly bring the GINs the championship trophy Quote Link to comment
