One thing going for Wlad is he is out of options so the M's are reluctant to let him go if ever. With the season ending injury to Endy and with Saunders deemed not yet ready for the majors, it's his opportunity to shine. Hopefully he'd do better this time as the pressure is considerably lessened as now it's his job to lose. It's just too bad Wlad, being a right handed bat, is a bad fit with SAFECO. As for long term plans, I foresee Wlad being a Mariner at least until next year. If I were managing them, my plan would be for Saunders to be called up this September and act as the 4th OF next season - he could take some at bats from Gutz and Wlad. By 2011, if both Ackley and Saunders work out, Wlad could be sent elsewhere. And I won't be surprised if he blossoms after leaving SAFECO - this ballpark really gives right-handed batters fits.
