bogliboi_blue
Get whatever you want. In everyday driving, many of the advantages of a fully synthetic oil are wasted. If you thrash your engine, then go ahead and bite the bullet, but everyone else will be just as happy with mineral or semi-synth oil. It's not the makeup of the oil that matters, it's the ratings, such as viscosity and oil grade. Quote Link to comment
johnlove
Regular lang gamit ko, but I might try fully synthetic oil sometime in the future. Quote Link to comment
feramsy
Synthetic is superior to mineral oil in terms of stability at sustained high temperatures. It does not breakdown as quickly. What is critical is to choose the right viscosity for your engine. Ideally you should choose the lowest viscosity that will enable your oil pump to still reach the maximum psi (~65 - 75psi). As a rule of thumb, if you change oil frequently eg. every 3000kms, it would be more economical to use a mineral oil. But if you go with extended drains eg. every 10,000kms, you would be better off using synthetic. Another rating you need to look at aside from viscosity is the API (i.e. SJ, SL, CD, CG) or ACEA (A3, A4, B3, B4) ratings. You should get at minimum the recommended rating by your engine manufacturer. I use 30 grade oil, fully synthetic for my cars with a minimum rating of either A4 or B4. Quote Link to comment
zanjoe
fully synthetic gamit ko kasi turbo charged ang engine ko mataas ang temperature na na endure ng engine kaya dapat synthetic para di mag breakdown agad yung oil Quote Link to comment
tacio
Synthetic is too expensive. I usuali use multi-grade oils with high api ratings. At most seme-synthetic basta di lalagpas P250 per quart. Basta normal driving lang with occational hataw. just be sure to change oil and orig filters every 5000km. Its is also important to make sure that your cooling system is ok. Kahit sysnthetic pa yan, pag nag overheat makina lusaw ang langis Quote Link to comment
ichiro_zen
if you frequently rev your engine higher than 3K RPM and mahilig sa spirited driving I would suggest mag synthetic oil ang gamitin. SOme people would not recommend synth oils on old cars and old engines because of its viscosity. Mas malabnaw ang synth oils kesa regular/mineral oil kaya ang tendency nito ay nagli leak. of course luma ang car luma na rin engine at oil seals nito kaya tumatagas. but yun good side naman nito eh mas mataas ang boiling point nito thus mas resistant ito pag madalas mainit makina. mas maganda ang lubrication. hindi agad masusunog ang oil. praktus
just try to put it this way, if you have a car that travels everyday and runs for more than 15 hours, whether it be straight driving or w/ pit stops, use mineral oil. its cheaper and just as effective, IF u change your oil every month or every 45 days. this is the common practice of taxi drivers. if you have a car that doesnt run like a taxi, use fully synthetic and you can choose to change your oil whether it be every 5 thou kms or every 3 months or which ever comes first. this way you dont need to measure if you had a month of heavy driving or if your car was just stuck in the garage. we've had several cars and even a taxi, works like a charm but then again you really cant blame the method if it doesnt work for you bec you also need to consider the age of the car. we have a new honda civic now and according to the manufacturers notes, the car can only use fully synthetic oil but the oil change could be every 10 thou kms or every 6 months or again w/c ever comes first. by the way all of our cars were casa maintained and we never experienced engine problem or performance issues. c32
motul 8100 xcess... great though it's a bit more expensive than other fully synthetic oil... Quote Link to comment
manhivin
Fully synthetic oil na, even if its' a bit expensive. But better use it on new engines. The expense will be offset by the savings of a properly maintained engine, in terms of less trouble, better fuel efficiency. Quote Link to comment
tacio
multigrade lang ok na for city driving. just make sure yung regular maintenance and use good or orig filters. pag barado filter mo kahit synthetic pa yan katok pa din makina mo. if ur racing the car then use synthetic. Quote Link to comment
otitismedia
question lang, do you wait until you reach 5,000 km or do you change oil pag-dating ng specific number of months (e.g. 6 mos ) ? Quote Link to comment
edc
question lang, do you wait until you reach 5,000 km or do you change oil pag-dating ng specific number of months (e.g. 6 mos ) ? Kung sino mauna. At least twice a year. Example mga sports car or yung mga bihira gamitin na sasakyan......Sa sobrang bihira gamitin hindi nga aabot ng 5thou kms sa one year.....Pero kailangan nila pa-change oil..... Quote Link to comment
