Bobby Fischer died today (January 18 - Manila time) at the age of 64. RIP Bobby.

when I was playing serious chess, for some reason i loved capablanca. i still do, but the title of greatest player probably belongs to kasparov.

For me, its mikhail tal. For sheer attacking courage and brilliance. I disliked the positional games employed by karpov and kasparov, as it delineated into who memorizes the most variations wins. For Tal, chess was ironically exciting. Google his games if you like po.

I used to play chess a lot when I was in school. The greatest natural talent was the late Bobby Fischer. It is too bad we never saw him play Karpov for the championship in 1975. Kasparov and Kramnik may be a close second.
