romero Posted July 3, 2008 Share Posted July 3, 2008 based on the replies, hands down si samboy "the dragon" "the skywalker" lim, then nelson "the bull" asaytono (perfect nga sya na image model ng red bull noon kc talaga namang kayod ng kayod sya non, then danny "dynamite" seigle... sa mga mejo bata pa ng konti, tama yung previous posts na...si samboy lim lang ang pinapalakpakan pati ng mga kalaban...aside from jaworski...sya lang ang may standing ovation pag papasok na sya game...kung first time mo pumasok sa coliseum or first time mo manood ng basketbol, aakalain mo na may away o gulong nangyari kasi biglang nagtayuan ang mga tao at nagsisigawan, malalaman mo lang pala na may papasok na player ng san miguel, #9 at mahaba ang medyas nung panahon na hindi pa uso yun.... and as i've browsed my collection of sports magazines (mga early 90's ako nagstart magcollect he he he)..pareho lang ang comments ng mga sports analysts whenever samboy's name was mentioned, "IF HE COULD ONLY FINISH ONE SEASON WITHOUT INJURIES" in the bag na yung MVP sana... and regarding the selection of Jaworski on Samboy for the National Team " eh san ka naman nakakita ng duguan na mukha eh babangon at lalaro pa" words to that effect...stressing the fact that Samboy took all the blows, the injuries, pati na yung nangyari with Jolas...para sa mga bata pa o di pa sinisilang that time, picture this, yung paa ni samboy umabot sa board... I've also remembered one game which made me really proud...this was when a fledging basketball association in the US, I.B.A. (International Basketball Association) yata yun, came to the phils for promotional purposes, led by Sean Chambers (who was eventually recruited by Alaska), they faced some our PBA teams laced with an import... they lost to SMB with Parks as the import but what was really proud for us pinoys during that time was when Samboy made mincemeat of their defense scoring 27 pts..prompting the commentator to say that "Samboy is going berserk"... Hehehe. =) And even the "Black Superman" Billy Ray Bates, when he was criticized for supposedly below par play in a losing effort for Ginebra said "[samboy] ... plays like he came from the NBA" Considering Bates averaged 20+ points for the Trailblazers before being busted in a drug scandal, that's high praise indeed. Sana man lang may special citation na binigay ang PBA sa ginawa nyang yun. Going back to Samboy issue, I think close sa laro nya ngayon sina Caguiao and Yeo dahil sa mga hangtime moves.
