Yung mga naaalala ko sa 80's ay yung mga palabas at pelikula katulad ng the Goonies, Star wars, E.T, Kumander bawang at mga pelikula ni Tito, Vic and Joey. Sa TV naman yung He man, She ra at Knight rider sa gamit yung Discman.

Classic cassette tape brands included the top of the lines like TDK SAX-90 and metal, and Sony Chrome. The cheaper ones included Betamag (ughh!), and Uni. BASF later came into the scene in the late 80's or early 90's, which improved the quality of the cassette dramatically.

 

I remember going to the old National Bookstore branch along Quezon Avenue after my class in UP almost weekly to look for new LP albums to buy. Back then, an LP cost P26 while a 12" (extended mix) version was at P19. Some of my best buys included:

 

1. The Fixx - Reach The Beach

2. Men At Work - Cargo

3. Billy Joel - Glass House

4. Duran Duran - Seven and the Ragged Tiger

5. Madonna - Madonna (1983)

Until, I got 80s music in all my music sources. Pero gumagamit pa ako ng cassette player sa AVR gamit ung mga ni-record ko galing sa FM stations 30 years ago.

BASF was the best tape brand. It's made in Germany. It was being sold even way back in the 70s. Another favorite brand was Memorex

One of the downers of the 80s was the farce of a revolution in 1986.

I actually think it was the best thing that ever happened to the Philippines...not only in the 80's, but the entire historical landscape.

 

Removing a treacherous, evil and scheming leader considered as the world's second biggest thief was a testament to the principles, beliefs and values of the Filipinos back then.

 

Sadly, we can't say the same today...
