MRROUGHSEX
used to live in a house in the suburbs in QC, took us 2 hours or more to get to Makati due to traffic then; now baka 3 hours na yun.moved to a condo closer to Makati, but still in QC, closer pa rin sa school ng kids; less travel time, more convenient, safer too, lock and go. may move to makati by next year, so we'll see if it is a house or a condo there. we'll move the kids there, para dun na lang kami, traffic is getting really bad. Buendia pa lang e 2 oras na hahaCondo but not for living for passive income, im renting right now with 3 condos in baguio giving me roughly 90k a month.. saka na ko mag house and lot kapag may asawa nalol.Very nice. Yan din gus2 ko business in 2 years time. Pero 1 unit lang afford ko. Quote Link to comment

M Corleone
Personally, a house and lot is a better and wiser investment since it lasts for generations and while time passes by, its value appreciates. You can buy low and sell high sa house and lot. A condo unit, on the other hand, depreciates as time passes by. True, it can be a great source of passive income but only when you have some extra money to spend -- mahirap mamumuhunan sa condo unit lalo na kung di naman kalakihan yung sahod. Plus, may lifetime ang pagkuha ng condominium units. Ownership doesn't even pass to you even if ang laki ng binayaran mo. Here, you're just a mere lessee and ownership is retained by the developer -- that's why may 50-year period sa contract. So in the end, wala ding mapapasayo. Just my two cents. Quote Link to comment
chessboxin
condos used to be nice due to its location in prime areas, however the traffic crisis has made the "prime location" a huge disadvantage, unless of course you work near your condo. If you have tried living in Ortigas, Makati or BGC (and you work elsewhere), it's as if you're locked out of your own house during the weekdays. that said, pag least headaches lang ang paguusapan, nothing beats a condo. There are no floors to fix, pests to control, roofs to fix, security investments to make. The association dues is nothing compared to what you'll be spending for house repairs in the long term. ang annoying lang talaga sa condo ay yung privacy. Quote Link to comment

"A condo unit, on the other hand, depreciates as time passes by" -- I have yet to see a condo depreciate in value over time. You are more likely to have depreciation in H&L if the builder is not good. (for example, an owner who likes to build his home using his own hands thinking he can do it but does a poor job). "may lifetime ang pagkuha ng condominium units" - Only for some of them, like in your example. But most condos are owned outright. Houses may are also be built on leased lands, up to 50 years. So, essentially, it's not what structure is on the land that matters but what the lot contract is about. Quote Link to comment

MRROUGHSEX
Eto me pegs na, delineating property boundaries. It's a small community on top of a hill. We are like-minded people who want to live off-grid, away from the bustling city life and into simple living, nature and wilderness. Animals found range from small creatures like rabbits and possums to medium creatures like coyotes and deers to big creatures like jaguars and bears. MRROUGHSEX
My lot is on by the cliffs LOL. Living off-grid and living on the edge, literally and figuratively. Nagsisimula na landscaping. Quote Link to comment
