During family gatherings, the conversation will ALWAYS go this way:

 

Elder: Nag-asawa ka na ba?

Me: Hindi pa po.

Elder: Ilang taon ka na ba?

Me: 30 po.

Elder: Nagkaboyfriend na?

Me: Opo.

Elder: Asan boyfriend mo ngayon?

Me: I broke up with him last year.

Elder: Oh, e bakit single ka pa rin?

Me: By choice, tita/tito. Ineenjoy ko pa po ang pagiging single.

Elder (and this is the most annoying): Mag-asawa ka na tingnan mo si.... at si.... ilan na anak niya.

Me (in my head): Yeah, look at him/her... Tsk. Seriously?

Questions that I find to be insensitive and not just uncomfortable:

 

On my special day:

 

"Buntis ka ba?"

 

Now:

 

"May anak na kayo?"

"Wala ba kayong balak mag-anak or mag-ampon?"

"Si ________ 3 na anak, kayo kailan kayo magaanak?"

"Di ka ba worried na mangbabae si __________ kasi wala pa kayong anak?"

 

Everytime I hear these questions, my mind goes totally blank. WTF?!?

 

My those are super insensitive questions Ms. Darkeinjel. So what do you tell them? Or do you just give them a nasty look? If I were in your shoes, I would have just told them "that's none of your business."
