At one time, there were Battletech tournaments all over the place. They even had an enclosed battletech sim game when I visited WOTC with my friends. The game was super fun. I still have all my cards since I spent over $1k on everything. Even though they are worthless in the market place, the enjoyment I had with them are priceless. Quote Link to comment

Many players of defunct TCG lines have done so, and some of their projects can be seen online in Lackey CCG. You might also want to check there in case someone already made a Battletech plugin.
