Bohol remains one of the best island destinations in the Philippines, with the Chocolate Hills being a genuinely unique landscape you won't find anywhere else, and the access roads have improved a lot compared to the old days when the rough trails would knock out your suspension, so even smaller vehicles can handle the trip now without much trouble. The tarsier sanctuary, the Loboc River cruise, and the beaches in Panglao round out the experience well, and while the Panglao area has gotten more commercialized with foreign-owned establishments taking over, there are still budget-friendly local options if you know where to look. Has anyone been recently and found any good local spots for food or accommodation that are still reasonably priced?
