ATONG ANG
food and beverage handling seems to be the most common culprit. Quote Link to comment
pitbull69
hindi naman siguro 'to rampant... may reported case na ba na nagkasakit dahil sa ice? may anti-bodies ka naman eh, it should work for you. Quote Link to comment
BlackWizard
I make my own ice... Mas delikado pa nga ang ice na nabebenta sa kalye, yung usok lang. Sometimes named Meth, obats. etc.(Gets?) Quote Link to comment
bingo2balls
tube-ice is clean , the production process is simply different ( its untouched by human hands ) but BLOCK ice and the CUBE ice that comes from block ice is a different story altogether. Quote Link to comment
juancarlos_enriquez
Yeah, it's bacteria infested, pero tolerable. It's healthy to ingest some of them little critters once in a while. Quote Link to comment
fireman9927
i think the expirement deals only with the lab rsult and not based on the internationally accepted parameters...like it covers lab results on bacterological examinations?also, i understand that all restaurantsnow arte following the HACCP to monitor the quality of their products...as for the ice, bacteria will only grow there if the staff allows them..my suggestionis that use only one scooper with is stirile to scoop ice from the copintainers. dont use any equipment..keep the ice container covered and maintain the temperature of the ice to keep ift frozen..... dsm2gst
Whenever I go to the Philippines I never drink anything with Ice in it. I usually order bottle water, coke, C2 or SMB light I just drink it out of the bottle just to be on the safe side. Quote Link to comment

I usually order bottle water, coke, C2 or SMB light I just drink it out of the bottle just to be on the safe side. i should have learned this lesson several years ago when i got hospitalized for typhoid fever after a trip to manila. the doctors were stumped as to what was causing my erratic high fever and chills which didn't respond to certain antibiotics, until one of them suggested a typhedat exam ( i hope i got that right). they never entertained the possibility of typhoid since the only place i had been two weeks earlier was metro manila. in fact , after the test results came in and they had to put me in antibiotics they use on cancer patients, the doctor in charge of infectious diseases came in the room and ask me if i drank any water straight from the tap and i said no. i only ordered from reputable restaurants and would drink coke...but with ice in the glass. after that incident, i would always request the restaurant to skip with the ice. artvader
You could always just put the ice in boiling water to k*ll bacteria first, of course if you really want to be safe... But then... Quote Link to comment
1800donttry
How bad is this bacteria though? You have to consider that they DISINFECT toilets with really strong disinfectants. Just because there's bacteria in the ice/water, it doesn't mean that it's terrible for your health. After all, a little bit of bacteria helps build your immunity. Quote Link to comment
maui25
hmm... how safe?? well sa house kc we used mineral water to make ice sa fridge, sure na safe yon pero kung sa labas, well thats another story nausually pag sa mga restos na may pangalan naman safe yon, kc if not, sila rin masisira sa mga customers nila... pero kung sa mga sidewalks naku 50/50 yan about dun sa bacteria naman, meron kc bacteria na nabubuhay sa malamig at namamatay sa init and vice versa Quote Link to comment
