clipclip
What is true for one type of provider is true for all. Internet speed is all about bandwidth. There is an allocated bandwidth, and that is shared by all subscribers. Hence, more subscribers on line, bandwidth is more divided, slower internet speed. The less subscribers online, more bandwidth is available, the connection speed is faster. When a particular service provider says you have a guaranteed 1Mbps connection, that is only partly true. 1Mbps means that would be the allocation to each subscriber IF total available bandwidth is divided by X number of subscribers. BUT, service providers would easily allow more subscribers over their projected users. Why? Because logically, the expectation is that NOT ALL subscribers log-on at that same time. That is the provider's expectation and projection. It does happen, however, that there are particular times that everyone, and more, go online. That's when you will start to experience a sluggish internet connection.Case in point: all service providers are only good at the start, when there subscribers are just few. But you will notice, in time, your internet speed will also slacken. That means, the number of subscribers have already increased, hence the reason why your internet connection will start to slow down. When that happens, your service provider SHOULD upgrade their bandwidth. If they don't, they're service will start to suck, and they will loose their subscribers as these will transfer to another service provider. The real test of true internet speed is your actual observation when you browse, or when you upload/download files. Not even sites like speedtest.net show the actual and real internet speed.I agree! Quote Link to comment

ej_qn
DSL - no cap, more reliable.Tried the demo of Sky the speed varies greatly on how many Sky subscribers are within your area. Also, majority of websites have issues that fail to display.. that was almost a decade ago and till now the issue has not been resolved. Kumidlat lang or mawalan ka ng signal eh wala ka nang cable tv wala ka pang internet. Yeah, still capped ang data. Quote Link to comment
ibirp
i'm currently using Sky Broadband. For many years, it was very good: high speed, no cap, discounted cable rates, etc.recently, frequent na ang intermittent disconnection due to congestion. andami narin kasing subscribers sa area namin. kendrasee
broadband is recommended pag nasa village ka since its faster with less users connected.for densely populated areas, better go with DSL since speed is more consistent regardless of number of users connected. Quote Link to comment
Fhunkmeister
I'm currently subscribed to SkyCable's 50mbps plan. Unlimited (no data cap) so sawang sawa kakadownload. Ok naman s'ya, no problems since maikabit a few months ago. All devices can now watch 4k/1080p streaming kahit sabay-sabay, most torrents can go up to 7mbps DL speed (fastest I've seen), and hindi naman bumibitaw sa games so far. Quote Link to comment
