Tried the demo of Sky the speed varies greatly on how many Sky subscribers are within your area. Also, majority of websites have issues that fail to display.. that was almost a decade ago and till now the issue has not been resolved. Kumidlat lang or mawalan ka ng signal eh wala ka nang cable tv wala ka pang internet. Yeah, still capped ang data.

i'm currently using Sky Broadband. For many years, it was very good: high speed, no cap, discounted cable rates, etc.

recently, frequent na ang intermittent disconnection due to congestion. andami narin kasing subscribers sa area namin.

broadband is recommended pag nasa village ka since its faster with less users connected.

for densely populated areas, better go with DSL since speed is more consistent regardless of number of users connected.

I'm currently subscribed to SkyCable's 50mbps plan. Unlimited (no data cap) so sawang sawa kakadownload. Ok naman s'ya, no problems since maikabit a few months ago. All devices can now watch 4k/1080p streaming kahit sabay-sabay, most torrents can go up to 7mbps DL speed (fastest I've seen), and hindi naman bumibitaw sa games so far. Ang nakita ko lang na issue is medyo mabagal sa facebook videos... mukhang sinasakal nila yung bandwith nila sa FB kasi madaming nag-facebook.

 

When the broadband installer came, binantayan ko: ang typical kasi na gagawin sa'yo dyan para mapabilis sila isshare sa connection ng TV mo, sasabihin kaya naman nung line. Lima yung tv sa bahay na connected sa cable kaya hindi ako pumayag, pinakabitan ko ng sariling linya yung internet galing sa poste. At least hindi mo na kaagaw yung mga tv sa bahay para sa signal, yung mga kapitbahay mo na lang.

Kung konti lang sa area ang naka cable, then it would be ideal to get cable over dsl. DSL is preferred if there are many in your area subscribe to cable. High possibility mabagal ang speed sa cable pag madami kayo sa area.

 

Overall, fiber would be better than both dsl and cable.

Best option for Internet is to move out of the country until PLDT's monopoly in the ISP industry has been removed for good.
