riv123
Hello everyone, I need your expert opinion on my laptop's issue: The laptop would work/start fine and I can surf, work and everything on this laptop. Problem starts when I shutdown via windows shutdown computer procedure. The laptop will go to the process of shutting down BUT it will restart by itself as if somebody pushed the power botton. This machine used to have Vista and I have upgaded this to Win7 thinking the issue will be resolved but unfortunately it didn't. Specs: HP Pavillion DV6353aAMD-based Has anybody encountered same problem? Opinions? CHEERS!!! Quote Link to comment

riv123
just check the registry if it shows the same values...or try to disable all your start up programs Ok, this is a new install... I have already updated to the latest BIOS after talking to HP customer care. I believe the w7 activator modifies the BIOS so think this is an issue. Downloading Vista Home Premium OEM iso and will downgrade this lappy and see if the issue will go away. @SamanthaJones - Thanks! Quote Link to comment

Check If Your PC Supports 64-Bit Windows 7 If you have bought or upgraded your computer in the past couple of years, with an Intel Core 2 Duo or equivalent/higher processor, your PC is already equipped to run 64-bit Windows 7. If you want to make sure, you can do any of the following:If you are running 32-bit Windows Vista, go to Control Panel > System and Maintenance > Performance Information and Tools. Click View and print details. In the System section, you can see whether your PC is 64-bit capable. You can use the Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor to find out if your system can run 64-bit Windows 7.Check the Windows 7 Compatibility Center to see if your devices have 64-bit drivers. http://www.makeuseof.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/10/Win7UpgradeAdvisor.png When You Should Use 32-bit There are some situations in which you are better off using 32-bit Windows 7:If you use only 2GB of RAM, and do not plan to upgrade anytime soon. To really take advantage of 64-bit Windows 7, you need minimum 4GB RAM.You have legacy devices like scanners and printers that do not have 64-bit device drivers. 32-bit drivers are not supported under 64-bit Windows 7, so you should make sure all the devices you need to use are compatible with 64-bit.You run old 16-bit applications that were developed for Windows 3.1 or DOS. Set it to advanced mode if it's not already.- At the top left, click the "Graphics" menu, and then "Desktops & Displays".- For your desired display, click the little black triangle in the bottom part of the screen, on the LITTLE picture, not the BIG one, and click "Configure".- The scaling options will now be selectable, check the "Enable GPU scaling" box and select "Maintain aspect ratio". Hit Apply.- Set your old resolution back. Even though the forementioned scaling controls are greyed out and you can actually see "Scale image to full panel size" grey-selected, don't worry.- Go play your games!
