alloy v7.6
UV light, as I understand, would replace the UV light from the sun so, in some cases, as they say, especially if the temperature is too high, it promotes the growth of algae. But if you're planning to set up an indoor planted tank, its bound to be a necessity. Also useful if you plan on caring for turtles since they need a lotta UV rays. Hehehe. Hmm, but yeah, I suppose it could prevent mold and mildew. But The best way to handle an aquarium is always through TLC. Its better to clean up the tank rather than install expensive things to prevent the build up. Even a regular light buld, when placed on top of the tankk, with a DIY shade would look uber cool on Common Goldfish. What's important is the passion for the hobby. Just my two cents. rickgonzales
UV Sterilization In Fish Keeping It is a safe and natural method to reduce waterborne pathogens and algae the causes “Green Water”. UV is as natural as sunlight. Unlike chemical treatments that can potentially harm the fish, beneficial bacteria, and plants in your aquarium or pond, UV does not leave any residuals in the water and therefore cannot harm fish and plants. A UV sterilizer works in harmony with other essential filters by eliminating nuisance green water caused by waterborne algae that can easily create problems and ultimately reduce filter efficiency. :hypocritesmiley: Quote Link to comment

pablo2long4
Medyo pricey ang UV light although my mga DIY din but in my case I don't need one since my shading (trellis + vines) yung pond ko which really minimized the problems with algae. Another advise I forgot to mention is make sure your pond is watertight. Wag kang magtipid sa sahara and waterproof paints if you're going for a concrete pond. If you're budget is tight, you can opt for plastic liners. I saw in the local agriculture magazine some ads about it. Or kung talagang wala, go for a mud pond :upside: saan makakabili ng mga plastic liner ? Quote Link to comment
