With all due respect to all the answers here, and I trust that you abide by them, but the clothes make the man.  We always have the propensity to judge people by their looks, and that includes clothing.  We should always strive to wear our best and present our best.

Many people do not give us the chance to prove ourselves and our abilities, and simply brush us off based on external appearances.  Cliche, but true.

Trivia:  The saying "The Clothes Make the Man" is erroneously attributed to Mark Twain.  In fact, it was originally written by Erasmus, from the Middle Ages.  His original quote:

vestis virum facit

This means "Clothes make the man."

Here's an article on this beautiful quote:  https://alex-65670.medium.com/what-is-the-origin-of-clothes-make-the-man-7f75e070bf45

I have always received the best treatment when I wear a suit and tie.  Of course, you must also learn how to carry it well.  And as much as possible, have a car too.  It's hard to commute carrying a suit bag.  But if looking your best is important to you, you will find a way no matter what.

Good evening!
