Bitoy
I think with the acquisition of Denok Miranda and Arwind Santos, SMB is infusing some fresh blood into their line-up. Medyo tumatanda na rin kasi yung mga current superstars nila. Quote Link to comment

tagalupa
hehe parang my napikon sa kanya noh? hehe hopefully danny S. will play na!! Danny Seigle is practicing together with Lordy Tugade. DS trimmed a lot. He's in his game shape & looks very determined to bounce back. While Tugade bulk a bit. Danny Ildefonso looks very serious & concentrating on practice. Dunking the ball from time to time. While Dorian looks physically fit. Eman also added some muscles & very active in practice session. Rounding up the other Beermen in practice today are: HontiverosCortezCustodioRacelaVillanuevaCalaguio Those who did not attend todays practice: Arwind Santos & Mick Pennisi (both excused to have time to rest after their RP team stint) JWash (injured) Wesley Gonzales (No reason given) Coach Siot is giving some new offensive patterns. --According to Sir Than--- Quote Link to comment

tagalupa
Tugade, Seigle return Already loaded with stars in all positions, San Miguel Beer will welcome back veterans forwards Fil-Am Danny Seigle and Lordy Tugade in the coming PBA Philippine Cup set Oct. 11 at the Araneta Coliseum. SMB head coach Siot Tanquingcen said yesterday that Seigle and Tugade, who were both sidelined last conference due to injuries, were impressive during the team’s recent practice. “But we don’t want to rush them,” Tanquingcen said. “Both of them are doing okay.” The 6-foot-7 Seigle missed the previous Fiesta Cup, which San Miguel Beer won by beating sister-team Barangay Ginebra in seven games, to rehabilitate his back injury in the United States. Tugade, the 6-foot-3 native of Alaminos, Pangasinan, missed the latter part of last season’s Philippine Cup and the entire Fiesta Cup with a left knee injury. Seigle and Tugade, according Hector Calma, the one-time San Miguel playmaker who is now the team manager, are under the watchful eyes of conditioning coach Chester Tiongson. “Maski hindi pa nag-start nun ang training ng team, they already started with their conditioning,” Calma said. “Sa ngayon OK naman silang dalawa, nakaka-sabay na sa ensayo. Siguro both of them nasa 80 percent na ang condition sila.” In a recent survey, nine coaches have tagged San Miguel Beer and defending champion Talk ’N Text as the ‘teams to beat’ in the Philippine Cup. Calma said that they are hoping to carry the momentum of their successful title campaign in the Fiesta Cup as they try to win their first All-Filipino championship in eight years or since winning it in 2001 under coach Jong Uichico, who is now with the Ginebra Kings. tagalupa
Siot facing ‘pleasant’ problem FOR coach Siot Tanquingcen, what his San Miguel Beer squad does on the court matters more than the "favorite" label being affixed to the Beermen just three weeks before the opening of the PBA’s new season. "We cannot hide the fact we have very good players. But having good players is vastly different from having a good team," Tanquingcen stressed yesterday. "Ang mahalaga you can play well together," he added. "If you can’t play well together useless ang pagiging good players n’yo." That explains why Tanquingcen is making a very careful assessment of his slew of 16 star players before coming up with his final 14-man lineup for the Philippine Cup that kicks off Oct. 11. Tanquingcen has the enviable luxury of having the likes of Dondon Hontiveros, Dorian Pena, Danny Ildefonso, Mick Pennisi and ageless Olsen Racela as shoo-ins while the likes of Danny Seigle and Lordy Tugade, both coming back from injuries, lead the possible "fillers." "This is a relatively pleasant headache dahil unlike other teams, na ‘yung 11th to 14th players nila hindi pa sigurado, kami ‘yung 15th to 16th players namin magaling pa rin," noted Tanquingcen. Seigle and Tugade hardly suited up at all last season and missed SMB’s Fiesta Conference title-run. But the two, according to Tanquingcen, have been taking part in full practice and have even suited up in all of the Beermen’s four tune-up games so far. "Slowly at dahan-dahan lang ang balik nila into game-shape, but they’re getting there," reported Tanquingcen. Another forward, Jay Washington, underwent surgery on his tendinitis during the off-season and also one player Tanquingcen is keeping a close watch on. "If they recover in time for the coming season, nandiyan din sila sa lineup. Pero kailangan 100 percent ," warned Tanquingcen. And the final lineup must be attuned to Tanquingcen’s system. "Everybody must be aware of what we’re trying to accomplish," he said. "Sayang nga dahil we already had good chemistry in the Fiesta, maganda na ang takbo ng team. "Pero may mga changes, kahit ibang teams, at kailangan mong magbago din, ng kaunti." Quote Link to comment
