well... for him to do so wuold merit that he be given an opportunity to develop

given that... how can he if and when he barely plays in games?

Good point. But hopefully he gets his chance. Although the return of Dorian Peña would mean even less playing time for him. Still, if his fate turns out to be like Gabby Espinas' then I think he can still shine with another ballclub. Or he could end up like the next EJ Feihl maybe hehehe..

nah... he needs to have at least 20mins per game

he won't develop if all he gets is 5-10mins per game...

Giants book semis ticket; Realtors win

GAMES WEDNESDAY (Cuneta Astrodome)

4:50 p.m. -- Coca-Cola vs Red Bull

7:20 p.m. -- Air21 vs Welcoat

MANILA, Philippines -- In playoff mode this early, Purefoods broke away late in the first quarter and went on to rip Coca-Cola, 101-87, Sunday night and formally clinch the first automatic semifinal seat in the Smart PBA Philippine Cup at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.

The Tender Juicy Giants tore the game wide open using just a 9-0 run to close out the first period and eventually notchedtheall-important 12th win to reach the Final Four ahead of everyone else.

“We wanted to put our spirit to the test,” said coach Ryan Gregorio, who made the semifinals with still two games left in their schedule. “We came to this game with a playoff mentality, that’s why we played hard all the way.”

James Yap scattered 29 points, while Jondan Salvador, in possibly his finest game since coming back from a career-threatening knee injury last year, scored six of his 12 points at the start of the second period.

The Giants, champions here two years ago, improved their leading card to 12-4.

They took a 24-16 lead with that 9-point burst and then opened up the second period with a 14-5 salvo that all but took the fight out of the otherwise game Tigers.

Coca-Cola lost for the second straight time and dropped to 6-10 overall, down in ninth place.

Sta. Lucia Realty earned at least a playoff for the second spot after winning a franchise-best seventh straight game later, 99-77, over struggling powerhouse Magnolia.

The Realtors got 21 points from Kelly Williams and 19 points each from rookie Ryan Reyes and veteran Marlou Aquino in climbing to 11-6 and staying in second spot.

Magnolia, meanwhile, bowed out of the automatic Final Four race by losing for the eighth time in 17 games.

Peter June Simon contributed four of his 18 points in that Purefoods run as the Giants raced to a 38-21 lead heading into the final six minutes of the first half.

It was all Purefoods from there as the Giants kept the Tigers, who came into the game winners of five of their last seven outings, at bay the rest of the way.

“The real test of character of a team is when it plays with nothing on the line,” Gregorio said. “It’s a big luxury to be in the semifinals already. This is a huge blessing for the team.”

Yap, the MVP last season, hit 11 of 20 shots from the field, while Salvador completed a double-double with 16 rebounds.

The scores:

PUREFOODS 101 -- J. Yap 29, Simon 19, Salvador 12, R. Yap 12, Raymundo 9, Pingris 8, Lanete 6, Adducul 6, Sanz 0.

Eman is just wasting his career in Magnolia, the next conference, he will see even play even lesser minutes bec of the import. He will be another Gabby Espinas.

Same with Larry, he will never get the exposure he got with Red Bull in this team, he should have stayed with Red Bull after all.

eman really looks like the trainer from my gym :upside:

and what do you guys think of dondon hontiveros? he was really pissing me off when he was on team pilipinas, then i saw that nike movie and gained some more respect for him..

..but he's so inconsistent. is it the fact that's there's only one ball to go around with so many guys fighting for touches?

the reason why he's becoming inconsistent kase sa sobrang lakas ng line up.

mas maganda kung ipasa ko na lang ung bola sa kakampi ko at dumipensa na lang ako.

marami kaseng iiscore sa mbm kaya ganun.

this guy is capable of exploding big time in a single game, i know how this man can play ball.

wesley should just play in the PBL

too much pride :D

besides... Arben won't allow that to happen

he takes pride in the fact that the championship team of ADMU are mostly playing in the PBA

The coach is the main problem not the player. He cant motivate his player to play hard especially on defense. The team is complete but he cant find the right formula. The best solution is to change the coach. Bring back jong. Look what he did in ginebra last year with their star studded lineup.

here's the thing... last yr when coach siot was doing good with the SMB line-up everyone was saying to retain him as SMB/MBM head coach... and I can also recall that there was a very strong clamor to oust coach jong as BGK coach... now that coach siot isn't performing to expectations people would like to oust him? cmon... give the guy a break! the losing has more to do with the players... I say rid themselves of those "excess" luggage...
