Wyld
yes pineapple is fiber but if u dont take enough water intake, u will tend to constipate because fiber is bulk-forming (hardens our stools)...so in order to utilize the benefits of fiber, u should take in lots of water at least 8 glasses everyday so as not to suffer the consequences of constipation.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> I never assumed that one would give up water for pineapple juice... That would be very very unhealthy as pineapple juice has a lot of sugar... That might lead to diabetes and we dont want that. I was merely reacting to your point about pineapple causing constipation because as far as my experience goes... it actually causes the opposite of constipation. I think everyone knows that water is essential to health and that 8 (even more) glasses a day is the norm.... The key here is balance in everything we eat and drink. Quote Link to comment

bonjing
Just a slight correction. Pineapple IS fiber and fiber makes you go "number 2" easier .... Actually people call pineapple (fruit and juice) the "walis" of our tummy because it really helps you flush out everything.... But youre right its a good diet food and will help lower your bp and your weight. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> yes pineapple is fiber but if u dont take enough water intake, u will tend to constipate because fiber is bulk-forming (hardens our stools)...so in order to utilize the benefits of fiber, u should take in lots of water at least 8 glasses everyday so as not to suffer the consequences of constipation.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> yup, fiber is bulk-forming... pero it doesnt constipate.... one of the triggers for defecating is stretch...when the colon (yung ating malaking bituka) is stretched to a certain diameter due to the bulk of the stool. yun nga lang, without enough water intake sobrang titigas ang stool mo... you'll feel the urge pero you'll be straining your neck out trying to pass that hard-formed stool... kaya feeling natin "constipated" ang dating.<{POST_SNAPBACK}> I would agree with all of the above, based on experience. I am regularly taking fiber breakfast, lunch and dinner. But if i don't take in the recommended 8 - 8oz of water a day, yung yung sinasabi ni in_vitro na straining your neck. Pero kung tama yung water intake ko for the day, yun naman yung sinasabi ni Wyld na "swoosh" in the morning. Ginhawa to the max! hahahahaha just my own 0.02 cents worth.... @lyonhartWhen you say pineapple juice, is that the freshly squeezed or the ones that come in cans? Quote Link to comment
Wyld
^ I think na mention somewhere ... canned PJ ... and I actually prefer the Del Monte brand ...hindi matamis at natural na natural ang dating... But if I can find matamis na fresh pineapple, thats what I take instead... Damang dama ang pag walis nya ... "swoosh na swoosh" ... :boo: Quote Link to comment

Mike Chester
Wahhh!!! Napaka mahal ng Pineapple dito sa lugar ko ngayun, gusto ko ring mag lose ng weights, is there any alternative aside from Pineapple? FYI, i'm staying now in a country where tropical fruits are really rare kaya medyo mahal siya. Somebody out there please, can suggest some high fiber fruits which can be found in cold countries Quote Link to comment

Dapat your caloric intake should be offset by the calories you burn in exercise. If your intake is more than the amount you burn, you gain weight.... You really need fruits in your diet so ... make do with what you can find... Just avoid avocados and bananas at first kasi these are high fat fruits.... Tapos eat less red meat and more chicken breast, fish and veggies. Load up on veggies kasi fiber din yan eh.... Drink lots of water (if you can do more than the 8 8 oz glasses all the better)... I hope this helps... Quote Link to comment

Q-Lazzarus
this thread is informative... thanks for opening. this is not for Hypertensive people but for people who would like to maintain good health... Quote Link to comment
in_vitro
If you are having blood pressures that read >140/90 on more than a few occasions, you should first consult your doctor and have a hypertensive workup. this is mostly made up of blood works, urinalysis, an ECG and chest XRAY. from the results, a probable cause for your hypertension or hypertensive attacks can be surmised. note, however, that most causes of hypertension are multifactorial, with some even showing normal lab results.
